You probably meant to say pesticide, not herbicide. Herbicides are just one type of pesticide (that is meant to kill weeds, hence herb- as in herbs). There are also insecticides (insects), fungicides (fungi), nematicide (nematodes, essentially tiny worms), molluscicides (snails) and a few more.

@@roncalverley Probably. All large scale ag is chemically assisted, tho. If you're organic you're still going to use maybe rotenone or pyrethrins or bt instead of sevin, and probaby something like oxydate and copper instead of captan, but you're still using chemicals, and there still some (usually less, not always) environmental impact. @laurenmallon4963 Hi Lauren! I was born on a successful 450acre farm in 1950 run by my Parents and Grandparents. It makes me marvel at how they achieved such success with so few and basic machinery!! I wish I could have them back for "just one day" to sit down and watch this video! That is after I got them over the shock of using a cell phone, Kindle, and computer!! I think one of the reasons my Father was (Even before 1950) so successful was that he was open and enthusiastic in learning and implementing new ideas. As a child of The Great Depression, he put himself through college earning a degree in "whatever farming degree there was back then". He read voraciously continuing to constantly increase his knowledge about new and innovative farming techniques. What we see here makes me so proud of what they achieved without the benefit of these marvelous machines. I learned to drive on a tractor long before a car! Like you, I would love to test my old driving skills on these gigantic pieces of equipment!! (Something tells me it wouldnt go so swell!! My learning. Curve would have some comical and accidental outcomes! Excuse me for writing you a novel and thank you for your time and patience in reading my story of bygone days. Again, so glad to "meet" you on here and thank you for your lovely comment that fueled my memories. I hope to hear from you! Aging is NOT for sissies but we PLOUGH on, don't we (pun intended!)! Its gone backward if anything. Using "apps" to program basic machines that have been replicated from master designs created a century ago, is not the sign of human advancement. Its just tiny twerks on old patents to make money faster. It looks advanced, but the early centuries says "hold my beer" while we build a magnificent practical civilization. Look at the old stone mason mansions, cathedrals and city buildings. AMAZING. There is nothing that quality and lasting today. And 95% of the things made today are designed to have a short life anyway. Thats not advancement. Thats a RACKET. For more MONEY. They dont care about quality unless they need it to build a better money-making machine or an online data mining company. Thats human regression. Turn the PCs and power off and this generation would be lucky to survive the week. Thats not advancement. This is the most UNadvanced civilization EVER in history. Yes, agriculture machines are developing more and more, a worthy thing
There is nothing about the thumbnail. Clickbait only. Edit: 13:32 is the traumatizing part where young chickens are put through a machine to deliver the chickens to their new home. Packed in plastic crates that didn't look tall enough for the chickens or spacious enough because I'm sure they cram them in as tight as they can. I wish I hadn't seen that!

Love Agriculture, actually went to college to study Agriculture Science and specialized in Horticulture and Crop Science.. Agriculture is the 2nd to most high tech industry the Military is the 1st of course, the only issue with Agriculture is the lack of payment for workers and the appreciation of the industry.

"It's a cookbook!" ... Unfortunately it's the new norm, until maybe one day we won't need to enslave billions of animals annually for our consumption & get our protein somewhere else, like maybe from a fully-safe & organically lab-grown animal muscle & not from a slaughter of a fellow creature. Or maybe we won't need to eat at all anymore, of which that one I'm talking thousands or maybe millions of years from now, unless we extinct ourselves first.

i like that plucking robot at 8:01. It's not fast but it works 24/7 without taking a coffee brake, so in the end it does more than a worker that only works 7 hours a day. The same for the drones at 3:55, only i don't think that those drones are very durable and need alot of maintenance.
The magic of heavy machinery in agriculture - it's a sight to see
Most of this technology has been in wide use for at least 10 years in the US.
Awesome vid but the voice.. omg make it stop
These agricultural machines are growing overwhelmingly
A dream come true. Please, another one, asap. Marvelous tks
The problem is that only comparatively well-to-do farmers in some countries, e.g. USA, Canada, Western Europe, are able to afford these expensive machines. Farmers in Afrika or most countries of Southern America and Asia do not have the financial means and moreover they cultivate only small allotments, so it does not pay off for them, even if they had the money...
@hs6736
Жыл бұрын
Not really... Most asian countries have land ceiling or labour is cheap, making such investment unviable. There are rich people everywhere, who can afford it if it makes economic sense

That's why there are few small farms left in the U.S. Only large operations can make the finances work for enough automation to remain competitive.

I was talking about the impact of technology on slavery elsewhere, and this is part of it. Mechanization makes slavery less profitable. It takes care of a lot of the grunt work.
These are amazing. But I am sad about the ones shredding the trees in seconds. No way could any wildlife unable to fly or run get away in time to keep from being butchered (nests with babies, infant raccoons, squirrels, etc.)
@warframeees8013
Жыл бұрын
Birds and other animals will be gone ages before the machine even reach their tree. Those machines make a shit ton of noise and will scare away any animal within a kilometer of it. They are also a necessity for modern society. The only thing that wouldn’t be able to escape is eggs in nests and such and they wouldn’t escape if you chopped it manually.
@WakkasLove

@@warframeees8013 I wish that were true, but I've seen too many animal rescues of infant squirrels, raccoons and other creatures that were fortunately found in time by loggers. They usually call in animal rescue, and I am so glad that they do. But it does illustrate that not all are evacuated in time. But I appreciate your thoughtful and civil reply.
