Song makes me break down in tears every time I listen. I think about my wife, my kids, my parents and siblings. We get so busy in life and I get so sad knowing that our time on earth is short! We need to make the most of every day and every breath we are alive.

Thomas Kramer TK'S Niche Definitely agree! This is a beautifully composed song that perfectly describes living with many blessings - it’s impossible to appreciate everything as deeply as we could and should because life moves so quickly. As wonderful as this version of this song is, the U.S. Army Band “Perishings Own” is absolutely definitive, matching Neil’s lyrics with deep passion and pathos. It makes me weep like a baby, especially since they arranged it and dedicated it to Neil within a month of his death.

Also divorced after 23 years of marriage and if only I would have savored those moments years ago while we were still with one another. This is what I stress to younger people now.

Neil peart, The Professor, was only 12 days older than I am. I was shocked when I read the news that he had died from a brain tumor he'd been suffering for the previous three years. RUSH, one of my first loves in 1968 and played to inaugurate my first turntable in 1971, I cherished this trio of human beings. I have every one of their albums on half speed master vinyl or import deep grove heavy gram playback. Forever.

This song has been getting tons of attention and cover's including the US Army. Even Aimee Mann from Til Tuesday (now solo artist) is the lady in the background. She sang "Voices Carry" which was popular around the time this came out in the 1980s. I don't know if it had to do with the passing of Neil Peart on Feb 10th this year but I'm glad it's being appreciated.

Ah, going straight to the "Hold Your Fire" album which has a very, very, very love/hate divide among the fan base. Personally, I love this era, just for those types of lyrics Neil really started to write. Even as a guitarist, 90% of what Lifeson plays is still untouchable, just not as in-your-face as their early works.

This young lady definitely has goggle eyes...I used to get lifted (and yes I would get the goggle eyes too) and listen to "2112", "roll the bones", "counterparts". Get the munchies, then put on "Signals" as a night cap....good times, good times...

A lot of people don't like Rush's Synth Prog period - I love it - I love geddy's haircut - I love everything about the green screen video - and - and - out of all the rush songs.. It is the best - lyrically - musically - the best - Is it my fav rush song? - no, but its up there - but i recognize it as the best

This video was directed by Zbigniew Rajinzcki and it was a difficult video for the band to shoot, it was two days at a studio in Toronto along with Aimee Mann, throwing around ideas for the video.

This is Rush in thier progressive rock period. Please react to perhaps the high water mark of that pregressive rock time for Rush: La Villa Strangiato. Also please react to another recording of 2112. All the world is a stage is a live show, but it is the full 2112. You Rock!

The background singer...Aimee Mann.... had an interview in 2017..... Here is the part where She talks about being called in to work with RUSH.... www.guitarworld.com/artists/aimee-mann-talks-new-album-mental-illness-and-working-rush-time-stand-still * This year marks the 30th anniversary of Rush’s “Time Stand Still,” to which you contributed a memorable vocal. How did your involvement with the band come about? I’m not sure if they had heard a song of mine or someone told them about me, but they contacted my manager at the time and asked me if I wanted to sing on it. I didn’t know Rush’s stuff that much but I thought, why not? I liked the song and thought the part was really pretty. Originally, Geddy Lee was singing it. He’s got such a powerful voice and I remember saying to him, “Dude, your falsetto is so great. You shouldn’t have me.” But they really wanted to have a different singer on it. I’m very proud that I had that opportunity.*

Sister, you're reactions are AWESOME!! First and foremost, thank you for reviewing one of my favorite bands! I saw Rush live three times in my life and their concerts were excellent. I'm sure by now you have heard that Rush's music is a little more progressive, eclectic, and articulate than most hard rock groups of their time. Now, that does not mean that other groups were inferior, but that Rush would deliberately write music and lyrics that were both thought-provoking and musically challenging to perform (I used to play guitar and this was one of the songs I wanted my band to perform, at the time). Some would argue that they have successfully changed their sound over the years, but IMHO, their sound only evolved. If you are considering a 'deep-dive', by all means listed to Rush's earlier albums; 2112, A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres-which contains their concert favorite La Villa Strangiato, Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures. I'm guessing that you have also heard that Neil Peart, heralded as the best drummer in Rock, passed away on January 7, 2020. "A man's mind, once stretched with a new idea, can never return to it's original dimensions." -Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. P.S.: I am African-American as well.

Yeah Geddy's hair changed alot during this era, as well as their sound. Even Neil had this super short hair with a giant pony lol I'd say this probably one of my favorite songs off of Hold Your Fire, from 1987. This album was one of the last straight synth pop albums. The next album Pretso in 1989, was a Pop album that sounded more rock, but still not Heavy like Counterparts in 1993.

Great stuff. Keep up the great work. Love the Rush rabbit hole! Try going back to the albums Permanent Waves, Exit Stage Left, Moving Pictures, 2112 (twenty-one twelve), Fly by Night and Hemispheres for some classics SURE to increase your subscribers. Consider some Wikipedia research... Their music and verses have a lot of depth... Besides you should level set and understand a little about what the band was going through, how old, etc. when the song or album came out. Thanks.
