Totally. For all the negative things, YT enables us to hear & see stuff many of us wouldn't or couldn't access. I think though this will decrease so to speak & everything monetised. Ive always been into Cure, SOM etc but Rush played a huge part in my mid/late teens. I was the'weirdo' at school but thrived on that! Neil Peart never be forgotten

Johnathan, I was introduced to Neil, by one of our local drummers who was widely known, and then opened a full music school. Spending my summer vacays with Neil, was NO walk in the park. There was a lot of physical conditioning/training. Every day since his untimely death, I sit down and play one of his songs.

This song literally gave tens of thousands of kids (myself included) the motivation to make it to and through another day.

Its entertaining to speculate who would be the drummer for a new RUSH...but...it stops there. Geddy and Alex will never EVER get on stage... or in the studio again...to create new RUSH music. Could they get a drummer who can play as good as Neil? I will honestly say theres alot of incredible drummers out there who are on the same technical and execution level Neil is....but thats where it stops. There will never EVER be a creative genius out there to rival Neils songwriting and lyrical skills which made rush RUSH. And furthermore, I believe Geddy and Alex will never try to replace Neil...for the complete respect for what Neil created. It would not be fair to anyone.

In 2008, I was at a bar in Etobicoke, ON. I couldn't help but notice a dude just casually playing an acoustic while stretched out across two bar stools. I asked the server what the deal was, and he casually replied, "Oh, that's Alex Lifeson. Yeah, we keep a guitar here for him. He likes to play it sometimes." Sure enough, it was him. Shy at first, I eventually approached him to offer some general praise. Despite my interruption, he chatted with me for about 15 minutes, topping it off with "It was nice to meet you". Just one example of how cool and grounded they are. I doubt I'll forget that one...

Neil Peart is indeed the greatest drummer of all time. My family and I was in attendance on the last leg of Rush' "Clock Work Angels" Tour in 2012. And Neil Peart was absolutely phenomenal!!. RIP Neil Peart, you will surely be missed by your millions of fans!!!

Live in an apartment complex in Quakers field, I mean Bakersfield California, drowning out the earthquakes with Rush lol might as well, most of the world seems to have lost its mind.

56. A good friend of mine lives next door to Neil’s cousin in Thorold (Neil is from nearby St Catharines)

Every time I hear this song I think of growing up back in the 80’s, riding my BMX bike with my friends, not caring about anything, getting up on Saturday mornings to watch the cartoons. It just gives me a dejavu feeling of that part of my life that I can’t fully explain....it’s weird. Gotta be the best decade.

There's no better power trio!

There will never be another Rush ever. The highest tech band and self made. Nobody had ever controlled their own production process at this time. It was their own company. The only way to be or give it up and do not do it at all.

There is no better example of what is meant when someone says "They were tight!" Not a note out of place, everybody killing it, and doing it live...just wow!

This is the ultimate Rush song in my opinion. The complexity of the music, the true to life lyrics, the grandness of the synth at the end, it just can't get any better.

Rest in Peace Neil. You're with your family now. Thank you for all the wonderful memories you have given millions of fans all over the world.

This, IMO, is one of the best versions of Subdivisions on KZread. Crystal clear sound and the guys at the top of their game. Oh, it brings back memories of the first time I saw them in Toronto for the Moving Pictures tour. In the last 40 years, I’ve seen well over 1,000 club, outdoor, indoor, stadium and festival shows ranging from amateurs and up and comers to the top touring acts and, instrumentally, they are second to no one. The greatest composer of drums in the last 40+ years and one of the greatest drummers. He also happens to be one of the greatest lyricists. A truly underrated guitarist, only by the music rag-mags who is universally respected by other guitar gods. And a lead singer, bassist and keyboardist who is just so insanely talented. Treat yourself to this outstanding version by listening through a headset. You can here every note of every instrument in this version. And they’re Canadian too, eh.

Honest to God true story: Back in the 90s my wife had a co-worker whose dad was big Rush Limbaugh fan (personally he repulsed me) and she won two tickets to "An Evening with Rush" from a radio station and thought it was Rush Limbaugh! She and her 80 year old dad get there and her dad said "Its good to see so many young people embracing traditional values!" Then the band came on..... She said they actually stayed for 5-6 songs and on the way out the old man says "Well, the drummer is very talented. There's no denying that."

This was my introduction to Rush...1983 I think. Listening to the radio...blew me away and started a lifelong love for the band and the music.

He was one of the few musicians back then who didn't go through some messed up stuff like others did. I am glad because Rush has a huge discography with so many . I was trying to learn this song on keys and man some of the odd bar numbers in parts make it so hard to switch stuff in some parts. A good free synth for this is the patch "LAURIE" on the free downloadable synth called Dexed. One of the top free synths I have found I think.

Harrison Crutcher Funny thing is that’s Canada in a nutshell. People living for a long time because they never smoke or so drugs. Just eating blueberries and salmon and other delicacies keeps them lively for decades. Of course even Rush had to retire but Geddy Lee never lost his voice. Amazing it is.

Never in my lifetime will we ever see another band with this much talent.

Discovered these guys with my friend our junior year in HS in 2000 and saw them for our first time at their r30 show in 04 and it changed our lives, not only was the show great but the fellow fans who were most friendly bunch of people we ever met, they all couldn’t believe that two 21 year olds were there to see the show. We were some of the youngest and I’ll never forget it!

Been a fan since 1982, and it just never gets old. This is the greatest band in the history of ever.

“....be cool or be cast out...” That was me. They got me. Neil’s lyrics equaled his percussion. RIP Professor.

Miss Neil so much. There's nothing that compares to watching him play with the overhead cam. His precision was incredible and unmatched.

This version of subdivisions is the best in my opinion. Tempo is perfect, Geddys voice is calm and controlled, his synth sounds amazing and no weird effects, the bass is dark and thumpy, and neils drums are tuned probably better than any DW kit live except for the r30 one. Shits just perfect

the only band that comes close is the Police and maybe Cream but neither of those bands have the catalog.

RIP Professor. Amazing bass. Geddy really thumps it. Alex Lifeson always a genius. Brilliant piece. And I am devastated.

Subdivision by Rush is 1 of my all-time favorite songs, Rush is 1 of my all-time favorite groups they're 2 amazing been 2 most of their concerts y can't get a drummer better than Neil Peart he's absolutely amazing he's 1 of my all-time favorites

Love that Geddy changed his name to Geddy, out of love for his mother, love that he stood in for the late Chris Squire when Yes were inducted into the R+RHOF, love that I was able to grow up listening to these three and love that I can still get away with hammering out Exit Stage Left into the wee hours of the morning. We are lucky to have experienced greatness, and luckier still to realise it!

What an awesome performance of Subdivisions, my favourite RUSH song. This is what happens when music and friendship overpowers ego and competition. These guys love their fans as much as we love them. If ever there was a Rush track to show someone who has never heard of Rush it would be this. It has everything Rush has to offer.

This is the most hauntingly beautiful song ever written.

Jan. 7, 2020. What a devastating start to the year that hasn’t let up!

Now that James Brown is gone, I nominate Mr. Geddy Lee as "The Hardest Working Man in Showbusiness." His singing is fantastic, he is playing the keyboard and when he begins to pluck his base, the walls threaten to come down. I know of no other human on the face of the earth who could do that and do it so well!

The perfect marriage of rock and synth. And God-in-heaven Neil Peart’s drumming!!! To call him brilliant or expert is underselling. Perfect rarely applies to anything. But his drumming was flawless and unrivaled.

Geddy skipping across the stage at 4:25 when he goes back to the bass and Alex starts his solo is just SO FUCKING EPIC!... a real, true, masterpiece.

I went to see them in 1978 at the Tarrant County Convention Center in Ft.Worth Texas not knowing who they really were....MAN !! that concert really had an affect on me...the fact that 3 guys could make all these different sounds was something to behold !!!! I was 16 at that time,i'm 57 now and I never get tired of listening to RUSH !!

Cool story. RUSH is for intelligent listeners. It's so intricate mysterious and multi thought process with so many changes within one song. I hear ya. Rush is UNIQUE!!!!

Love this band, neil is always so fucking chill back there geddy is a monster on the bass alex is just doing his own thing. love this band!

This is the song that introduced me to Rush in elementary school was a big introvert till 7th grade

How could you not love Subdivisions? That ending! Just awesome. Miss you Neil. ❤️

Saw them at age 15 doing Permanent Waves. My first real concert! Had to ride the bus to Baton Rouge. 2 kids, 15 and 14. Terrified! The bikers, hippies, before the popularity boost. But once Saxxon was done a ton of regular folk filled it up. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing!! That screen with the lights shining on them against it made them look like they weren’t real! And the guys up in the lights moving those spotlights. And, freakin By Tor! OMG. They played everything! And Ged sang perfectly. Man, then 7 more shows.

I listened to this song over and over while driving from San Jose to Reno. Great song!

I'm a vet.That is my favorite Rush song. That was the first time hearing Pershing 's Own version.Extremely awesome.
