Rush - Losing It (cover by Brody Dolyniuk & Nina DiGregorio) Neil Peart tribute

Музыка

Tribute to Rush and Neil Peart. Cover of the song "Losing It" from the 1982 album Signals.
We humbly offer this cover as our way of paying respect to Neil and the band Rush.
Brody Dolyniuk - Drums, Guitar, Keyboards, Vocals, Mixing and Editing.
Nina DiGregorio - Electric Violin
We recorded and shot this video at home into Logic Pro X, an iPhone 11 Pro and Final Cut Pro X software.
Guitar is a stock Epiphone Les Paul. All other instrument sounds came from within Logic Pro X, except for the violin which was a Yamaha EV205 through a Line 6 Helix pedalboard and then into Logic Pro X with added eq/comp/pitch shifter. Drums are triggered via Roland V-Drums/TD-20/MIDI. Vocals were through an AT-4050 mic and Avalon 737-SP Tube Preamp.
Catch Brody live with Zeppelin USA, British Rock Royalty, Symphonic Rockshow or Windborne Music.
Catch Nina with The Femmes of Rock.

At 52 this year this song is starting to hit home. I’m not as fast as I use to be. Having to use reading glasses and memory is fading a little. Got aches and pains and wonder how much more is to come. Framing houses all thru my younger years has taken a toll on my back. I have framed literally hundreds of them. So I have lifted millions of pounds of lumber in my days. It’s amazing what a human body can endure. But like the song says in “The Garden” the arrow flies while we dream, while we sleep, the cells tick away. Age is our biggest enemy as so is time. Use it wisely like Neil did. He said he was never bored. At 52 I will follow his lead and fill my days being successful in my business. But most important I feel the need to spend every moment with my wife and be as close to her as possible at all times. I would rather walk the mall with her today than go hang out with the guys on the golf course. May be hard to believe but that’s the way I feel these days and especially with what’s going on in the world these days. We don’t know what tomorrow brings.

I've seen hundreds of Rush cover bands, tribute bands and folks doing covers on KZread and many of them were exceptionally good, but I have never gotten goosebumps, the hair raising charge through the body and a flood of emotions from them until now. That was beyond phenomenal. You are obviously well trained and excellent musicians but you also have that something extra. That vibe, that atmosphere of soul that shines through and grabs hold of the listener's heart. Thank you for sharing that. I'm sure Neil would be proud.

I don't know exactly why, but the lyric "And he stares out the kitchen door, where the sun will rise no more," always puts a tear in my eye. Maybe it's because at 50 years old, along with being a two-time cancer survivor, this song and especially that specific lyric reminds me of my own mortality. I have always considered this song to be among my absolute favorite songs by Rush, which means it is among my absolute favorites of all time by anyone. We have so much in the beginning, and as time goes on, more and more is taken away. Like the dancer who can no longer dance, or the author who can no longer write, we too will reach that point. Don't take anything for granted, guys. If you can dance, then dance. If you can write, then write. If you can enjoy your favorite food or movie or sporting event, enjoy it. You won't forever. Thanks for reading. And this is an EXCELLENT tribute to one of the greatest bands ever. Thank you for doing this.

Brought a tear to an old mans eye. One of Rush's best songs and Neils finest lyrics - the Hemmingway link is inspired - unfortunately summing up his life's ending. The man was a gentleman, a genius and a giant of music and it was sad to know that towards the end that he lost his ability to be the man he once was. ''The bell tolls for thee'' is such a powerful line.

I feel my body losing the strength of my younger years. My memory isn’t as focused and sharp as once was. So the song is really starting to hit close to home. Now about you guys making the video. I don’t know where to begin. But I will say Im blown away by everything to do with it. I find myself watching it again from time to time. So thank you for such an incredible display of talent written and played by such an incredible band of 40plus years. You two nailed it beyond expectations. You truly are way up their on a professional platform of skills and talent. Thank you again. Im sure Geddy and Alex have seen it and are as equally impressed as everyone else. Imagine recording this in your loft when this song originally came out in 1982, and coming out this good! LOL!! Who needs huge recording studios anymore!?!? I remember first hearing this song when it first came out and reading the lyrics. Quickly became my favorite off the album. Great job on all of it, especially the violin and matching Larx's part note for note, screech for screech!! Wish there was a little more boom on the bass drum/lower end levels (I love more bass on everything), but the rest is perfect!

Rush was my favorite band growing up. They still are. I may have aspired to fame in the many groups that I played in in my teens and 20s, but I chose a different path. Now in my 60s this song hits home even more as the ever advancing years take A toll on my hands and fingers. Having had hundreds of people in my audiences, this song hits home. Neil, you will always be remembered and you’ll always be missed.

Sounds a lot like my story. In my sixties now. Played a few hundred shows worth. The line "then flooding through her memories the echoes of old applause" hits me way harder than most other people. Rock on my Rush brother.

Wonderful tribute to Rush and Neil Peart! The electric violin solo always touched my heart! Also this one! Amazing song..amazing version! My compliments! ps: a little while ago I realized that a year ago I already commented on this video and received thanks from the two musicians (the symbol of the heart). Excuse me...anyway.. remains an amazing song and version and a wonderful tribute!

I grew up with Rush, the sound track of my life... I'm 58,retired Army combat veteran..83-90. This Song, has always been 1 of my favorites, and to hear you 2 absolutely nail it ..left me without words, and choked up. For all of us ' Dancers",.."writers ',..warriors " .." performers and portrayers, who will never dance, write, defend or entertain again...the bell tolls for thee.😢 Best cover EVER!! Thank you.
