    Try these links. There’s audio, but no video of them playing the full song. I know it’s not the same as going to see them live, but it’s still something. They played both Book 1 & 2 live in 1978 and 1979. They also played them on the Permanent Waves tour, but they excluded some parts. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZJyKt5dpiLrens4.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/gZ9nmtuyd8jFkZM.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZKWlxLGMaZrLpbg.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/jJya29imp8ytZsY.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/eXuNubCEobjdpM4.html

  • @sergioflores7811

    @sergioflores7811

    10 жыл бұрын

    Pheminon I doubt it, those high notes at the end of the song are pretty hard to pull off, some of the highs he does throughout they're catalog are just F'n inhuman, they're almost king diamond-ish xD is quite sad though, I really love Geddy's voice, and yeah, I know his voice is starting to show signs of fatigue, but who can blame him, I'd like to see someone else tour incessantly for well over 40 years pretty much non-stop ans still preserve his voice almost pristine as he has, also, they're playing superbly, most young bands wish they had the stamina and endurance (and most importantly the talent) these guys have, it's truly admirable.

  • @figeon

    I read that for the Cygnus series, they lower the entire vocal range by an octave to accomodate his aging voice.

  • @jamesweldon9726

    @jamesweldon9726

    7 жыл бұрын

    Pheminon - He can't hit the high notes anymore, and by all accounts, he is ok with that. He was in his mid twenties when FTK and Hemispheres were recorded, and laying down the vocals for those albums, let alone singing them 200 nights a year, nearly ended his singing career then. It's why he completely changed his singing style for Permanent Waves. If you listen to what he's been saying for the last twenty years or more, it's clear that his real musical passion is playing the bass. He doesn't care so much about playing keyboards or singing - he wouldn't do either, if he could get away with it. He loves playing bass. It's what he is best at.

  • @jamesweldon9726

    @jamesweldon9726

    7 жыл бұрын

    Felken - That's partially true. For many of their older songs, they tune the instruments down a half or full step (not octave) to make it easier for him to sing the song. On some songs, like "2112" or "Circumstances", it sounds great. Others, not so much. It's part of the reason we haven't seen them do songs like "Beneath, Between and Behind" or "In The End" since the early 80s.

  • @jamesweldon9726

    @jamesweldon9726

    7 жыл бұрын

    Felken - Also, side 1 of Hemispheres was always too high for Geddy to sing comfortably. They didn't realize it until they had recorded almost all of the instruments. Back then, it would have blown their already maxed out recording budget to fix it. So Geddy really struggled with the vocals.
