Running Technique Drills | 3 Drills For Beginners

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video Brad shows you 3 running technique drills to improve your running form. These drills are appropriate for beginners, though Brad refers to them as "intermediate drills" because they are not easy or to be taken lightly!
-Hopping Drill
-High Heel High Toe (Butt-kickers)
-High Knees
Stay tuned for part 2 of this video series where Brad demonstrates a few "advanced" drills to hone your running form once you've mastered these three.

You're never going to get everyone to agree or even understand that the previous video was exaggerated to demonstrate the form more clearly. I run half marathon distances in minimal shoes with this form and have no issues at all with lack of efficiency or too much effort (two sides of the same coin). Thanks for the drills, those look helpful!

In a similar boat. Between 1:53 (good) and 2:04 (lazy), I’m not sure what the technique difference is that makes the latter look so much more laborious. Just time on ground?

Hi, great drills. The second drill - my legs are not flexible enough to touch my butt. My left leg more than my right leg. Is that okay or do I need to do some stretching exercises to make my leg touch my butt?

So, this is whats been missing in my running development. I´ve been maf running and got into the habit of lazy legs. Now i practiced these drills and it feels like sprinting in a lower speed :) It is very natural somehow but i must force it still. I have one question, everytime i set my foot down it feels like im breaking, my foot slides abit forward on the ground making this scratchy noise and my foot slides forward in the shoe and i loose speed. Is this normal?

A question for you Brad, when jogging with the proper running technique (cycling on hot lava), which is what i practice now, does the heel needs to touch the ground at one point ? I'm curious, since i saw your recent video about running drills in which you state that the heel must touch the ground at the end of the motion (before stepping up). Many thanks !
