Running In The Rain | Everything You Need To Know!

Спорт

How many of you are running in the rain? Or at least trying to wrap your head around the idea?
While it can take a little more initial planning and preparation, running in the rain can be wonderful! And often a great alternative to feeling "stuck inside" on the treadmill, or skipping your workout altogether.
Coaches Holly and Morgan break down everything you need to know about running in the rain: what to wear, how to stay safe, and how to keep it fun. Good luck out there!

@@ScreamingEagle-xl3tw I used to run in the morning, 3:00AM morning. That is the only thing in the begging that got me to do it. In a non-superiority way I knew I was better than everyone since I was running that early. No one where I worked knew for about a year that I ran. But, then life happened and I had to move to after work running. Normal days for a while, maybe one or two other people running. One day on a Tuesday at like 4:30PM it was thundering out and I had the "let's go baby, ain't no one else doing this." I kid you not there must have been a running meet up or something. Over the 10k there was like 20 people running. Absolutely down pouring, not able to see in front of you, 20 degrees out so not cold. Never happened again, your comment just reminded me of that. Also, don't use any of that equipment. Its rain, you will be alright.

Yes, just power run in the rain is the best. You get the extra cooling and it feels great. It is like jumping in a bit colder lake. It feels great when you are in it, but you always have to overcome the resistance to jump in. Running in the rain is not different. No fancy stuff needed.

Great tips! Thank you for sharing! I especially like the newspaper to dry shoes and using the buff to dry off! I haven’t tried merino wool yet but, may try it this winter season thru training. You need to keep up with the times. Army Recon and special forces don't use Goretex. When it's cold it's easy with almost any waterproof jacket. The hard part is around 12-16 degrees C. You will sweat more than necessary. Look up scientific research from Natick Labs, etc.

A black hat isn't very visible. I bought a neon-green hat for running. I use it in a regional marathon because a lot of the race goes very close to traffic, and if one runs away from traffic, there's a slant to the road that causes a lot of stress on the legs. So I dress in bright clothes and run closer to traffic.

Say that you wear the hat and the jacket you mentioned, and afterwards also put the hood on top of the hat, and then at last wear the buff on your neck. Say that you wear all of these, Does water going to get inside your neck and then to your torso? Being from Ireland, surely you just mean running... 🤔 ... or do you live in some mythical warm dry sun drenched land, like that exists.

For those of us in the land of fire and ice(Alaska) the headband hat combo can be pretty handy. I started wearing a headband to keep hair out of my eyes in the wind, but quickly realized the versatility possible with a light weight close fitting head band and a light weight skull cap and billed brim cap. Skull cap is small, easy to tuck away when not in use, headband around neck when not on head, or, like the gal in the video, a quick twist around the wrist. Lots of options with minimal bulk. These ladies have some good tips. I like the emphasis on safety. Maybe a video on safety items(lights, reflectors etc) from driver's perspective inside vehicle and runner's perspective (cost, convenience, feeling seen) on the roadside or path would be a good topic for exploration. Thanks for the great channel.
