The song is okay but it would be better if Run rapped more about being a rap God who started hip hop and ruled the world in the mid 80’s

What’s even funnier (or sadder, or both) about this, listening to the full song is that looking at the lyrics I’m pretty sure the verse starting at 1:46 was written for DMC but Run had to do it himself

It REALLY sounds like they wanted Korn to be the featured artist, but they couldn't get Korn, so they pulled Stephan Jenkins off the streets to do his impression of Jonathan Davis, combine that with the fact that DMC is just awkwardly standing around not doing anything. That just makes this hilariously awkward 😂

that's cause it's basically shit. DMC refused to rap on the album at all cause he felt it was a soulless cash-grab, and virtually every song is a cheesy mashup with some other "hot" top-40 artist that generally has nothing to do with run dmc or the band's history. it was a music-industry fatcat manufactured "return" that flopped massively. it may as well not even be a proper run DMC record.

@TheIvar19 "The white dude" is Stephan Jenkins, lead singer of Third Eye Blind. If you listen to it again with that knowledge, it'll be impossible not to hear it. DMC is chilling at the back of the stage for the whole video, which is odd because I could have sworn I heard him on the track. Run is fat because that's how he rolls.

@edkelley18 You're wrong. DMC's voice was messed up at the time, so he was unable to provide vocals for the majority of Crown Royal. It had nothing to do with whether or not he wanted to do rock-fused rap songs anymore. He released his own solo album last decade, and the song "Rock On" was a rocker.

D.M.C. looks real quiet and still posing a good b-boy attitude. So, Rev. Run took care of his own vocals and guest appearances like Third Eye Blind, Nas, Method Man, Kid Rock and Fred Durst (from Limp Bizkit) were filling in for DMC. His vocals wasn't the same at that time and he wasn't feeling like doing rap-rock. Crown Royal was the worst album I ever listen to. It should've been called Rev. Run and Friends. D's voice was messing up and the majority of Crown Royal went downhill and that's how that album led the end of the group's chapter. Jay died a year later in October 2002, Rev. Run moved on as a pastor and doing his own show Run's House (2005-2009) and D.M.C. doing his own thing like his show on VH-1's DMC: Adoption Journey. So now, Rev. Run and DMC currently reunied with two sons of Jam Master Jay doing live shows nowadays. But it's glad to hear DMC's vocals back in action not on Crown Royal.
