Run Dmc was integral for hip-hop AS WELL as hip hop, it was thanks to Rick Ruben no doubt, but they still got on stage with hip-hop gear and everything that rap embodied and still made music that naturally reflected rock and street culture, Run-Dmc was the greatest "rap and rock" group of all time.

The concert footage for this video was shot on June 9, 1988 at their show in Albany, Georgia. They performed the song twice, for the cameras. That's my skinny white elbow sticking in from the left side of the frame around the 3:36 mark. Opening acts that night included Public Enemy, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince and JJ Fad.

This video was filmed in Albany, GA when Run DMC was on tour and came to my hometown...I think it was 1985. I remember it like it was yesterday because there were umbrellas in the video as it had rained that day. I was at that concert, and it was dope!! Those were the good ole dayz...

RUN DMC > GREATEST RAP GROUP TO EVER SELLOUT ARENAS & IT AIN'T EVEN CLOSE!!! I SAY YA HANDS DOWN!
Legendary oldschool Hip Hop will never die ! Greetings from Germany
Remember when me and a friend listened to this one in the 80's in a library with headphones... we had a blast! I like heavy metal but this was really new and funny!
I wonder how many people realize that this song was originally from way back in the 60s, written by Mike Nesmith of the Monkees and performed by them back in 1967? The first line in the Run DMC version obviously was changed (“buggin’” wasn’t an expression in the’60s…)-but they credited Mike Nesmith in the songwriting credits).
I'm Norwegian, and my older brother introduced me to Run DMC when I was a little girl. Mary, Mary was my favorite. I didn't understand the lyrics, but I would play the song, rewind the tape, play the song again, over and over and over. Still have it somewhere, he never got it back. I always wonder how close I was to singing the words correctly. Anyone know if there were lyrics within the cover? I had just learned to read, so that would have helped me a little.
L E G E N D A R Y ! ! !
never seen this video before. That first part was great (funny). Great acting whoever that is. "Let's go, ladies. This is War!" Is that the guy who did the "Crazy Eddie" Ads? "His prices are INSAAAANE!"

+Mr. Allen C. Sokolik Jr. (Awesome One) there is good rap today, but too it is too dominated by a cpl ppl so everything sounds like the other then the someone changes whats popular and everyone follows along. also too many songs all have the same ppl as the cameo. usually because it is their label, i.e lil wayne or rick ross was on every song on the radio a cpl years ago. it was ridiculous. but there is still good hip hop out there. kid cudi did his own thing with his own sound and wutang is still out there. the method man album 4:21 the day after was from like 2010 and was awesome. idk what haters say eminem was great and yelawolf is also pretty good imo

hawaiidispenser true, but i think it was the heavy synth use that makes it sound dated and terrible, i mean synth was in all types of music in 1980 it was ridiculous, rap was no different. hell even the clash went synth then. anyway the flows were pretty bad to, but i think the issue there is more it sounds corny because the slang is dated and hiphop/rap is slang reliant
