Chorus:
For all you sucker MC's perpetratin' a fraud
Your rhymes are cold wack and keep the crowd cold bored
You're the kind of guy that girl ignored
I'm drivin' a Caddy, you fixin' a Ford
My name is Joseph Simmons but my middle name's Ward
And when I'm rockin on the mic, you should all applaud
Because we're wheelin', dealin, we got a funny feelin'
We rock from the floor up the ceilin'
We groove it, you move it, it has been proven
We calm the savage beast because our music is soothin'
We create it, relate it, and often demonstrate it
We'll diss a sucker MC make the other suckers hate it
We're risin', suprisin', and often hypnotizin'
We always tell the truth and then we never slip no lies in
No curls, no braids peasy-head and still get paid
Jam Master cut the record up and down and cross-fade

Part of the reason I love rock music, I'm surprised rap or hip hop music in general doesn't include more rock.
1984 Brooklyn NY. I was a 9 year old Irish kid who lived over a paint store with my mom. While all of my friends listen to rock stations, I listened to 107.5 WBLS. One night this song came on, and I thought it was the most amazing thing I had ever heard. Then I saw the video on Friday night videos and lost my mind. Loved hip hop ever since.

This song hit me at my lowest time, and when I listen to it takes me to place that I can't quite explain. It's almost like a masterpiece on the level of Mozart, and I say that very hesitantly. But in my heart it's that same beauty.
Damn almost 40 years later & still hits hard. Legends.

Rap rock was invented by this song. Rap rock emerged in 1984, when New York rap artists Run-DMC released their song “Rock Box,” which featured hard-rock guitar from veteran session musician Eddie Martinez. E. Martinez was a animal on guitar.

Run, D.M.C. and Jay broke the barriers of color in the music industry. So when it played on MTV, That really kicked down the doors and open up for the rest of hip-hop stars like LL Cool J, Beastie Boys, P.E., all of them. Run dmc paved the way to have guitar riffs....
In the movie Brown Sugar, they ask the question "when did you fall in love with Hip Hop"? For me, it was this song in 1983, my first year in college hearing this song for the first time at the tennis courts. The opening lyrics and the guitar riff had me memorized. Plus they wore the same Lee's I got at the V.I.M. on Jamaica Ave in Queens! Priceless!

most "real good" music videos have low views because the masses are incredibly stupid and think bieber and miley cyrus are real musicians.

To me, this is the best song they ever did!
Who remembers hearing this for the first time and saying this is the greatest song in the history of music
Ця пісня завжди відгукується в душі якимось сумом... Неначе сум по давно втраченій епосі*-* пісня на всі часи
That guitar is nothing short of fire!! Wow I’m so impressed with this early infusion! The drums, the vocal deliveries, and lyrics all blend together so harmoniously. This has a timeless classic!

1985 Ybi at its finest Detroit …Rip Aaron Gerald Dix ..one love from HB….West Warren 28 th street
LL Cool J in the Kangol hat and checkered shirt getting out of the car at 1:21, carrying a copy of Run-DMCs first album! I've watched this video dozens of times and just caught that!!!!! Awesome!
This is still the toughest song in rap to this very DAY!!! Much love to the OG's of ORIGINAL rap!!!!! 👣 👣 👣 💕
"Cuz Calvin Klein is no friend of mine, don't want nobody's name on my behind" still one of my favorite lines!
