    Almost applied for a different Citi card within the 8 day window. This was super helpful! Thanks!! -- I have no credit cards/ credit history yet and applied for the double cash card. I understand now that I should have applied for a secured card after hearing your videos, should I try to apply for the Citi secured card after 8 days have passed? Or should I wait 60 days?

    Any thoughts on qualifying for the Simplicity card? As usual, citi will reject application due to "balances on other cards". This is ironic because why would anyone want a balance transfer card if there are no balances to transfer? Other reasons for denial are understandable, but can't understand why the rejection with impeccable payment history for almost 10 years. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!

    Another rule I just found out about the hard way was that downgrading to the Costco card locks you into it for life, as part of Citi's sweetening the deal to wean Costco away from AMEX! We are chump change in that deal! If you ever want to cancel your Costco membership, you also lose you Citi credit card and your credit line with it. Want a different card? New application, breand new account!

  • @AskSebby

    Use the banks for their "secret power" rather than just put all your eggs in one basket. Citi = price protection + return protection Chase = rewards + relatively high limits (after awhile) Amex = return protection + almost always having your back (probably a terrible analogy but...) find a great goalkeeper, striker, defender. Don't find 3 people who can play all the positions "fine but not great" -- use them for their strengths.

    I strongly advise people against balance transfers. In most cases, it gets people into more debt. The only exception is if you're using a balance transfer to increase your earning power (i.e., coding bootcamp), interest arbitrage (4-5% accounts), or if it's related to your income (i.e., laptop destroyed and you're a dev).

    I was just approved for the Citi AAdvantage Platinum, and my next Citi card is gonna be either the Prestige or Premier. I'm thinking of getting the Premier for the SUB and no AF for year 1 then PCing to the Prestige in year 2. Seb, I know people will have gold or Priority status and get he $350 fee for the prestige, and it even gets locked in if they lose the Priority status. If my goal is to lock in the $350 fee, do you know if itd work if I had a Premier, and right before year 1 hits, open the Priority account for 1 month, then let the year roll over on the card, PC it to a Prestige, let the (reduced) annual fee drop, then cancel Priority status?

    Need to know about how credit inquiries are getting counted while applying for credit cards. For example lets say I have three credit cards from Chase, US bank and Amex. For Chase, the inquiry appeared on Equifax only, for US Bank the inquiry appeared on Transunion only and for Amex, on Experian only. So it appears that there is 1 inquiry in each of the credit bureaus report. Now while applying for the fourth credit card from for eg. Citi, will they consider three inquiries or just one?

  • @AskSebby

    @AskSebby

    7 жыл бұрын

    It depends on which bureau they pull, which often depends on your state/city.

  • @kvp1000

    @kvp1000

    Looks like I didn't mention the point properly. It happens to be that after applying for 3 credit cards from three different lenders, each credit bureau got one inquiry from each lender. Now while applying for a fourth credit card, will the fourth lender look all three bureau reports to see 3 separate inquires(one from each) or they just see one bureau report and see that there is only one?

  • @AskSebby

    @AskSebby

    7 жыл бұрын

    It depends on the lender. Some like Capital One pull from all of the bureaus. If they pull from only one, they'll see one. It depends on the bank. There's no hard rules.

    Is Citi equally enquiry sensitive for both business and personal cards? Apart from the 6 inquiries in 6 months, could there be a limit to the # of enquiries in the last 12 months or 24 months? Just making sure as they can see the enquiries in your credit report 24 months back.

This rep said that a request to reopen can be submitted and that there would be a credit pull (hopefully soft) If/when the account is reopened, I would have the option to PC Citi Diamond to citi dividend! On the other hand, I learned that a Citi Simplicity cannot be PC to any other card.

    Henry H1 hands down blindly go with BCP. So far saved more than a grand. Lost wallet, a ruined shirt, and cashbacks. Been 11 months. Then get plat. Then spg.

    Banks are de-risking. Example: Amex isn't even taking new customers if you don't already have a card. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ioao1LScipfSdLw.html

    Citi is terrible... the only redeeming card they have is the Costco card. Other than that Citi isn’t worth dealing with

    Citi's customer service is pretty weak. Well, insulting. When you have a question that the automaton can't find an answer to in the script binder, they suggest a manager call you back within 48 hours. I'm not joking. You see, all of the customer service managers are in meeting each time you call. Fancy that. So very busy. They'll perhaps ring you if available on their own timeline, say, in about two days.

    2:40: as long as a customer is once pre approved for citi, they are utterly reluctant to do hard pulls. Example: they approved me but there was not hard pull even though I was like month late than expiry of the last promo they sent me. Then I tried to get a credit limit rise, and they didn't bother doing a hard pull again. Lol. But yeah, service sucks in comparison to others. Good for only stuff where you know you immediately wanna skim off money using price rewind. Example: buying something at more expensive price and then using that feature to get money back. With other cards, a lot more procedure is needed. This is just online system that does everything.

    Good point with Price Rewind. It's super valuable, even though I haven't really used it much.
