I have a capital one card from 14 years ago capital capital one signature card only has 1%cash back on all purchase with a $60 annual fee . It was my first card and don’t know what I was doing back then

My AMEX Platinum doesn’t provide Credit Reporting Agencies with a credit limit, but $ spent appear to be counted toward utilization. This is a bite, as the limit would be a big number.

I love Upgrade offers and dowgrading options. First time I did it was with a CFU to a CF less than a year in. Then I product changed one of my earlier cards, Capital one platinum to a quicksilver. A few months ago I got an $250 upgrade offer on my amex bce to bcp. Currently have an Arrival+ I got in January that I'll probably pc to the 0 annual fee Arrival next year, and a CSP that I'll pc next year in March or April

I know this video is 3 years old but I always appreciate the advice! Just called and did the product change after watching 🥂

Good video, I would like to use AMEX more as I have been customer for over 30 years. I will go to your site and see if I can find info on which card might fit me best. Sebby, I have somewhat of a unique case, I have had my CSR for 3 years and my SCRA benefits are set to expire 1/25/21. I want to know if you think I’ll be able to get away with using the travel credit before downgrading. Ultimately I plan on getting a CSP soon after my CSR is downgraded (to some type of freedom) to get the bonus. I just want your advice if you think they will blacklist me or clawback the credit. Sebby can I have your honest opinion? So I had about 10 open accounts when I got my chase card. All for sure within the range of less than two years. Cards ranging from regular credit cards to store cards. Do you have any idea why i was approved for chase? Did the system glitch and approve me, because according to 5/24 I should’ve been denied.

I would just apply for a new card and get the bonus -- especially on a 10 year old, no annual fee, card.

Barclays allowed me to product change my Frontier MasterCard to a Barclays Rewards MasterCard (no annual fee, 2 points per dollar on gas, utilities and grocery stores, 1 point per dollar on everything else). I received a bonus of 10,000 points (worth $100) for spending $1,000, and a $50 statement credit to spend $1,000 each month for the first three months. Mediocre card, but I netted a 5% return ($150/$3,000) to keep a line of credit with them.

Follow up question to Q2. I had a generic USB Visa CC for a while, then this year they did a mandatory product change to USB Cash+ Visa. I've never had this one before and new applicants get a bonus. However, they never gave me one when they switched it. Do y'all think I have a case for asking that they retroactively give me the bonus?

They might give you some courtesy points equivalent to the bonus if you ask and explain the situation. Worth a shot.

When i did it with amex the allowed it an refunded me a pro rated amount for the amount of time left on the annual fee

Chase really needs to offer upgrade bonuses for at least the Sapphire Preferred to the Sapphire Reserve. American Express offers upgrade bonuses so there is no reason why Chase shouldnt be able to do the same. It could be sonething like 35,000 Ultimate Rewards for the upgrade bonus for spending $2,000 in 3 months

In all seriousness--while I get the "spirit of the law" when it comes to the CARD act -- there should be a dispensation (and there IS, if you read it correctly) for people who ASK to change to a product with a higher fee. I'm not exactly sure why they are being so literal with it. Esp given other practices banks often exercise that do skirt the law.

Weird data point on annual fees I PC the CSP to CSR and still got charged the $95 fee instead of $450

It may take a few months but they will hit you with the correct annual fee. It happened to me with the Marriott to Ritz upgrade.

Your credit history stays the same if it's the same account number. Upgrading doesn't mean that the account gets closed; same account, higher tier product.

Very dissapointed about chase sapphire reserve credit card customer service. I had a flight cancelled last December 2018 and started a claim for 348.00 that cost me to get the basics until my next flight. The claims company has been asking me for a lot of documents and I submitted them. I just called to check the status and they say I have to contact chase to ask for more information claiming they aren't chase so they don't have access to anything. I called chase and complained about the lady from the claims company and the lady from chase got mad at me and said that they only offer travel protection but they (chase) can't control if it is covered because that is with another company. So why chase has a company that isn't working for them properly? They aren't paying to them enough? I've had the sapphire reserve since 2017. I gave chase a try about the delay.

What about what I would think of as a lateral to forward pass move from co-branded to general purpose rewards card? For instance would American Express approve an upgrade request from Amex Delta Gold to regular AMEX Gold since the later can act like a charge card too? What about a Chase's United Airlines Explorer VISA to a CSP or CSR?
