🦀Honestly, Hyatt points have been an excellent inflation hedge for me this year. A quick UR -> Hyatt transfer for a 2.5 cpp award stay is soo much easier to pull the trigger on when last year the same award was closer to 1.8 cpp. Hyatt, please keep your award chart and don't pull a Bonvoy.

Just a quick call out, at 13:01, the Hyatt Points calendar just shows you the point price per night, not availability. It could be 35K Hyatt points with no availability and still appear in the calendar view. Additionally, some higher end resorts have 2 or 3 night minimums.

🦀 the optionality is key for me. Have utilized the points to book Hyatt across from Disneyland at 2.5 CPP and saved hundreds, and also used via the travel portal to lock in at 1.25CPP where bookings would otherwise be .4 CPP-1 CPP for more economy bookings just mean a lot of savings.

🦀Sebby! I started earning points thinking about aspirational travel (and even just business class etc) but realized there is far more value for me in economy flights. I’ve stopped looking at “I pay x points instead of y $ for z thing” and now say “I pay x points for z thing instead of a $ for b thing”. I was never going to the Maldives or flying business internationally, so the points actually go much farther in economy for me. Cheap hyatts are great but 9/10x it’s a better idea to take the $70 a night Airbnb instead of points for the $150 hotel. And with flights, while I still look at the $ amount, mostly I’m flying because of the points. So I see a good points deal and take it. Recent points wins include 10k points RT on southwest to Cozumel and 15k RT to Belize. 40k RT den to Quito (twice!!) and some various 15k RT domestic travel on delta too. (All about 1.6 cents per point but I hate counting. Way easier to pay with points and think in points. It’s only money🤷🏻‍♂️)

🦀 all valid points. One negative I came across regarding plane tickets: when you book a RT ticket, as far ash chase is concerned, they are two, one way tickets. In the wake of all of the cancellations lately, it caused me issues both locating my reservation and remedying the situation. Eventually it was fixed but it was a big problem in the moment! Otherwise I’ve had no issues with my reserve. I’m interested now in getting more upgrades so any videos on how to transfer tow which cards would be helpful. I don’t have an airline card as of now. Will likely do something with American since that what’s out of Phillybut it’s not my favorite airline by far lol.

🦀 As an economy traveler, I typically either do BA Avios transferred to AA for short flights or I do Southwest where the Chase trifecta compliments all of my cards being enrolled in Southwest Rapid Rewards Dining where I get additional points beyond credit card rewards, so the Chase points are just a top off. I also have found that if you are going to a stadium concert or another large attendance event, the points cost with Marriott is less dynamic than the cash price and can result in some decent value. I got 4ccp after using a 25% transfer bonus to book an AC Hotel by Marriott less than a mile away from the stadium the night of the Coldplay concert.

Depending upon how heavy the silver spoons are, the raw material cost right now would be $24 per ounce. Assuming it's at least 2oz (i just weighed a fairly stout metal spoon, like a nice sized cereal spoon) that would be about $60 just in silver. Then you have to melt it, put it through a press to cut out the shape, another to round off the edges, another to bend and form, then probably another to finish the form. Then you'd most likely have someone burr and polish any lingering sharp edges, then most likely burnish at the end. If you're buying a silver spoon i guarantee you that if it arrives in your hand with milk spots you'll be pissed. I'm sure they're still making close to $300 at that price, but it is laborious to produce items like that with precious metals.

To answer your question: I would love a more "advanced" version of this. I have a lot of points and am concerned they're going to be devalued given the economic future so would like to know how to make the most of them.

🦀 Great video! I have recently booked an economy ticket using points since they cost upwards of $2200 in some cases. International travel

I would use UR points to get discounts on the Chase travel site. Rental cars, upgrades, etc. I don't pay the full price, but I do shop around (look at airline websites, rental car websites, etc.) to see if I can find a better deal. I know how much UR points I earn in a year and which quarter so I get an idea how long it takes to "recover" the spent UR points. Aspirational trips take longer but the US dollar (USD) is really strong right now depending on the currencies (EU, UK, Japan, Korea, etc.). It is just another factor you have to weigh in for costs.

Do a deep dive! I was trying to figure out if I can buy southwest flights through Chase travel portal (I think you have to call chase travel agent). If so would you earn 5x points on buying the flight and earn southwest points as well?

🦀 Was thinking about downgrading CSR to CSP. Will I still be able to transfer to Hyatt and United at equal values after I downgrade? Majority of the time, I transfer to hotels or airlines directly.

🦀 I use the Chase point system to help afford airfare for family vacations. Feels super passive and its great to never have to worry about the costs of getting to the destinations

🦀 I use my chase points for Southwest flights, usually can get about 1.6cpp. Not the best redemption but I prefer to stay at Hilton over Hyatt 🤷

🦀🦀🦀The thing most influencers leave out about the Maldives is that you still spend ~$10k there on top even if the hotel is paid for. Wish more would say this so those who wish to do this would get a realistic expectation.

No one is spending $10k when they get there unless you're doing excursions everyday + spa. Also depends on how much alcohol you drink.

I recently redeemed my UR Points to pay my CSR annual fee. I got 50% more value which brings down the cost of the card and increase the benefits. 36,666 UR Points to pay $550 AF. Pretty good value in my opinion
