Fantastic and useful video as a Chase CC customer! I've only ever accumulated points and haven't used them yet but this video gives a solid primer on how best to maximize benefits. It would be good to know how points depreciate over time in different programs (e.g. frequency, value decline) and your thoughts on spending points regularly to maximize value vs. saving for a dream experience (but risk devaluation). 👑

A LOT of our trips are the random airport hotels, roadtrips, small ones that make sense but aren't really worth filming. Conventions are usually another big win where we've gotten "$450 per night" rooms for like 10k points.

👑took my first Cruise with Virgin using the points and I’m glad it’s back this year. The cash fares are pretty reasonable for some cruises notably the Caribbean ones on non peak days but im glad the deal is back to try the Med ones.

Thanks for the review. Mileage will vary, but for my use case I agree with the hotel / airline points redemption. I mostly travel with my family and the availability for flights for four award tickets is limited and if I were to find 4 tickets, the amount of points needed can put me in a category 6+ Hyatt for a week+ (season and location dependent).

👑 I have the Southwest Priority that I use as my primary. Once Companion is met for my wife and I, I shift over to my Chase Preferred or I use it to pay for travel expenses where the Preferred makes sense. Recently thought of shifting to the Amex since there are more point rewards for travel and more options for point redemption. We do prefer to stay at Hilton which is a redemption option for Amex. Any thoughts?

Can you do a video on economy point redemptions? I get that the aspirational travel/high end experiences are a big draw, but I think for some of us it’s more about making a $1500 economy flight around the word affordable by finding a 70,000 point option, or something like that… I’d personally take 2 economy long haul int’l flights for free over one biz class flight even if it’s only 1.5 or 1.3 c per point instead of 2 or 3 or 4 c per point but can still be tricky to find best redemptions for the same reasons like different cost of fuel surcharges and variable award points charts etc.

Trust me if you're planning intl long haul.. Like Dubai, 12 hrs.. Economy is the worst. My back hurt for the first 2 days of my trip. Didn't get to sleep or rest.. Kids crying whole time..I would've loved to have biz class , good food, and sleep

Just booked a FC seat for my mom for Mother’s Day to Dallas, some points for a stay at Hilton Plata del Carmen for a quick bday trip and finally 30k Transfer to VA for a Seat to Rome for the P2. Wanted to ask for myself currently sitting at 2/24 CF/CFlex/CFU/CSR/Boundless/WOH/CapVX/CitiDouble in hand with 2 NFCU ccs also in hand. Looking to grab at least 2 more ccs this year for a intro as I have big spend coming up. Deciding if I should dive into Amex now for a Hilton and Green or Gold start? would love a video about amex points and chase points, the options for each, pros and cons, and which you think is better or why you would want one or the other, if having both would ever make sense, etc. I feel like the Amex and Chase ecosystems are the two biggest, and would like some opinions on the two.

One thing is it doesn’t have to be a chase bank account to redeem for cash back it can be any bank that you have linked to your account that you use to make payments on your account

Hi Sebby, I've been a Bonvoy member for a long time and I'm holding the Chase Marriott Boundless card. I’m thinking of upgrading the card. Can I upgrade the Boundless card to the AMEX Brilliant to get Marriott Platinum status and also get the Chase Sapphire Reserve card to stay with Chase? Is it worth it? What are my options?

There are some cases I can cover but for domestic, probably not worth the time spent researching / planning. Easier to lock in the 1.5 CPP imo.

👑 So I’ve been farming chase points for 2 years now, and I’m surprised but how few transfer partners you considered to be good value. I know flight redemption market changes a lot each year, but I was hoping with Chase I had better value options with more international transfer partners. Is British airways not a good one at all to transfer to? I heard using them for avios can be a good deal for traveling to other countries outside UK like Japan (and if it’s business class I don’t care about the fuel tax). Is the value no longer worth it with them? Emirates is definitely still on my list to experience first or business class too, as well as Turkish air.😮

Having an updated video on the best value travel partners would be nice, especially if you group the airlines by destination, ie. this airline is good for Europe, but not Asia.

👑 I stayed at the Hyatt at Waikiki Beach in Hawaii for a whole week using chase points, off peak season too, about 20k per night whereas after fees the cash price would’ve been $400~

👑 recently transferred to KLM for the first time and got great value. Also have done Hyatt before. But best use case for me and my P2 is Southwest (especially when we had Companion Pass).

Hyatt is a great transfer partner. We also get good value out of Southwest due to having companion pass, so about 2.8-3.0 cpp.

Def want a deep dive on transfer partners! I get completely overwhelmed just trying to search, compare, and do analysis on what's a good deal. Both deep dive into the good options and how to actually search for good value award travel in a way that doesn't take all day, if that's even possible.

👑 I think it would be helpful to see how one goes about booking air travel through points, where you show us literally how you do it. Step 1: Figure out how many points are needed specifically for the airfare Step 2: Transfer those points through AMEX / Chase, etc... Step 3: Pay taxes or fees if appicable Actually seeing you do it would help. I think a lot of people just default to chase travel for 1.5CPP when there may be a lot more value if we did transfer points instead. Just a thought.

👑 I like the Marriott 40% boost. That can work out to a decent value down the road if I can catch the right deal at the right time. Last year I was able to book a room in Austin during the race for 130k points. Given that rooms were so inflated in price it worked out to be 4.5¢/point value.

👑 love Pay Yourself Back. Spent all our points on hotels in Iceland recently. Sebby could you do a video on best premium/business class for couples? Seems like all airlines are making their first classes (Mint, Polaris) into single-person cocoons, only some widebodies seem to have seats together, in the middle. We flew Icelandair Saga which was fun but feels like if we want to sit together we have to fly economy 👑

This would include direct redemptions (e.g. transferring to Emirates to fly that airline) and partner redemptions (e.g. transferring to Aeroplan to redeem Singapore Airlines flights)

👑 I use points for partners if there's a bonus, but otherwise I have used it through Chase travel. I'd really like to see a deep dive into point redemptions with airlines and hotels with Chase points, but mostly the reasoning you have for why a product may or may not pass the Sebby test if it's good or bad. 😂👍

Seb, i just did my first points transfer! I needed to book a room at the dallas hyatt regency for a conference. Regular room rate was about $250 a night. But I was able to transfer over 9000 URs & got the same room for 1 night. If my calculations are correct thats a 2.8 cpp! 😎

Maybe Avios, and AA for partner redemptions are the easiest ways to consistently get over 2 cents. You can often find domestic USA economy travel for 2+ cents as well (I've done it with UA and AA). However, transferable point currencies very easily get 2+ cents each if you're into biz/first class. I generally get 2 - 4 cents per UR/MR if booking long haul premium fares (using r/t at time of booking prices, not inflated 1 way close in prices).
