The babies actually asked her at the end of the episode if she was serious and she said "get real!" So yeah, totally insincere. But she really did seem genuinely distressed to see her father not worried about her.

My mother didn't really like a lot of the shows on Nickelodeon because a lot of them had a bully and she didn't want them to be an influence. Rugrats was a rare exception because Angelica always got what was coming to her.

Note to self: Never have kids.
