    Hey! Good to see someone else like to shoot long range. I just bought this rifle today. Do you have any MOA in rail or scope rings? I've been trying to find best option for adding 50 moa to rail or rings, any suggestions? I also like to shoot long range matches. Our farthest target last year was 450 yards and this year we will be trying 500 yards ( reason for 50 MOA rail or rings).

    was out yesterday with a few of my other 22s and we were able to get out to 452. thats all the further our property will allow us to shoot. with a 30 moa base i had the scope all the way doped out and was running out of dope in the reticle.

    MIne shoots 1 moa at 50 yards, half inch groups. 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards. Mine also was rough and had failures to eject, after 1000 rounds its now buttery smooth. The key to consistent extraction is a smooth pull and to keep the extractor claw clean. I just take a wire brush and clean it up a little before heading out, pretty much solves the problem.

  • @coreyd1474

    @coreyd1474

    5 жыл бұрын

    funny that your extraction issues got better because mine got way worse. i ended up replacing the barrel with an er shaw true "match" barrel and that made things extra worse. ended up having to shim the barrel. i wouldn't throw any rounds out. so i got ahold of ruger and they sent me an new extractor and extractor spring. that made a big difference. they were real nice about it and fast. i suggest you do the same if its still having problems.

  • @Bloosee

    @@coreyd1474 I was going to contact Ruger about it but I cleaned under the extractor claw really well and practiced operating the bolt with some dummy rounds. I found out that if you pull too hard the extractor will slip off the shell and not eject. But if you pull too slow the ejector won't do it's job. It only took me 1000 rounds to stop and analyze the operation. Last time out I shot 60 rounds with no issues. Mine is shooting really well, accuracy is great the bolt is now smooth and my extraction/ejection problems are gone. Next step it to put one of the sweet new Timney triggers in it.

    Its way better than the 10/22 imo. My 10/22 now collects dust now. The reason they say its not good at 50 yards is they didn't take the time to read the manual and examine the riffle. It has a angled picatinny sight rail and you have to compensate for it it close range. or they may be using cci stingers, which the manual says not to use and other user error related problems. Also the jam problem is coming from SLOW bolt cycling. You have to be a little aggressive with the bolt. Pull the bolt a little faster and it will never jam. Once I figured that out I never got another jam. And man oh man this thing is actuate at long range. Blows both my 10/22's out of the water. Also find your favorite ammo for that gun and stick with that ammo. This video will help explain why, just to much to type...lol. But good video and dont listen to the gun snobs.
