    Great video, it would be nice to have a more in-depth video for those amateurs like myself who want to fully explore the position we play and expand our gameplay, or swap positions once we known a bit more about the game. Keep it up!

    @@OfficiallyActive I mean really diving into the roles and responsibilities of each position and the different ways you can play it. For example a big ball carrying center vs a faster and craftier one, what makes each of them work and how you can improve on your game in these ways. Could break it down into a series talking about a few positions each video. Just an idea.

    Funnily enough, at the beggining of the video when he asked the questions on why you are interest in finding out about rugby, I answered no to ALL of thoes questions 😂 I am not interested in rugby in the slightest (even though my country is obsessed with the sport). I mainly watched this video because I am a writer, and in my novel 3 of the main chatacter play rugby (and it is a big part of their story/character arcs). I mainly needed help understanding what kind of possition each of them would play 😅 This video really did help me on that so thank you

    I found when I played as a junior I was very nervous in playing as you are apprehensive at getting hit. It took about a season or two before you start to toughen up and start to get that fearlessness. By the end of my rugby days around 19 I could get absolutely blitzed and get up and play on. Just embrace the tackle drills so you get good technic and work on your fitness. The fitter you are the more resistent you are to injury.

    Hello, I am think of playing rugby and I want to know what position i should play. I currently play American football I usually play receiver and quarterback and on defence I play outside linebacker. I am skinny and smaller with long arms. I am great at catching in contact and great at catching In general I am also great at throwing. I am decently fast,elusive and I can plow through people pretty well. If any one has good rugby knowledge, would you tell me what position I should play?, thank you

  • @OfficiallyActive

    If you are going to play as a forward based on what you said. I would suggest number 7, these guys make decisions on the pitch somewhat similar to quarterbacks. Otherwise try out some of the backs positions such as number 11 or 15 they tend to be fast elusive players with a good catch to receive kicks.

    Slight correction: 16 to 23 are replacement players, not impact players (however, they can be). The replacement players are used when a run-on player is injured or exhausted. For example when a prop is injured he/she must be replaced by another prop or the scrums are uncontested meaning that the team feeding must win. Also, what is a deefensive player? I think that is American football terminology.

    To call a lock a "second row" is outmoded, and a hangover from when the scrum packed down 3-2-3. Nowadays it packs 3-4-1, so there are, in fact, four players in the second row! Similarly , to refer to the loose forwards as the "back row" is likewise an anachronism, as there is only one player in the back row of the modern scrum.

  • @MrPixiepantz

    @MrPixiepantz

    Жыл бұрын

    You say that the term 'second row' is outmoded as there are 4 players in the second row yet World Rugby Law19.5 states that a scrum (when 15 players are on the pitch) has "two props and a hooker in the front row and two locks in the second row. Three back row players from each team complete the scrum. So to refer to locks as second row is not incorrect and is still relatively common.

  • @lesterwyoung

    @lesterwyoung

    Жыл бұрын

    @@MrPixiepantz It would probably make it clearer to point out the anachronism of referring to the loose-forward trio as, collectively, "the back-row" when, in fact two of them pack in the second row.
