I'm noticing that a lot of you guys in the comments think we missed what Rudeus was trying to do in 1 of the scenes. We actually did notice it but didn't feel the need to talk about it because of certain reasons. It was also so fast that it really didn't give us an opportunity to really talk about it.

The anime didn't explain it well, but the mud ability he uses that traps enemies called Quagmire, because he's creating a Quagmire on the ground (the definition of quagmire: a soft boggy area of land that gives way underfoot.) So because he uses that spell so often when he works with different people, he's become known as that

@@MunkeyyCANA He doesn't go in depth. This show respects the audience's intelligence. He does explicitly state that the name is from the spell he uses, though. I believe it's in episode 4 but it could be a different one.

Rudeus's only remaining possession from Roxy is the holy relic, the wand was given to Silphy, the pendant was given to Ruijerd, and the handwritten book was lost in the mana disaster.

Rudeus mental struggles should really not be understimated tbh. He's a dude that was mentally scarred deeply in his previous life early on as a teenager, rendering him a social inept & outcast for the rest of his life till death. He carried those scars to the next life and struggled with them until Roxy helped him overcome them. Now, after he thought everything was alright, he was thrown into an arduous journey out of nowhere and then abandoned by his only loved one at the moment, while the rest of his family and friends are far, far away, with his mother's fate still uknown. Now, after he finally found a group that he was slowly feeling he could belong with, he screws it, leaving him alone again (not to mention he found out he has E.D). I don't know if you guys noticed, but he literally was about to kill himself after picking up the sword. If Soldat wasn't there to stop and support him, then well... Rudeus has an extremely low self-steem and suffers from clear depression, anxiety, and was literally having random panic attacks on previous episodes. Man needs support REALLY BAD and most importantly, understanding.

Idk if I would call him a “good guy” ,he punched someone in the face with no questions asked over a misunderstanding (sure he apologized but still not exactly good guy material).he was also bullying someone who he knows nothing about just because he didn’t like how he acted. Sure when he actually got to know Rudy for who he actually is he became a good person, but again I wouldn’t generally call him a good guy for that , he’s just a “good person” to those he doesn’t necessarily hate,and a complete asshole to those he doesn’t know or doesn’t like

Man really laughing while our Boi is down in the dumps and tried to kill himself 💀

Only reason why Rudy couldn’t get it up was because he was so traumatized that Eris left him and he body gave him signals that the same thing could of happen with Sara.

Rudeus may be able to nuke a Village, but that damage still pales in comparison to what Eris did to Rudy's heart.

Just letting you guys know that Rudy was ready to commit the S word after Sara left when he picked up the dagger. He is that far gone.

The episodes literally go out of their way to show all the things rudy has been doing to better himself and try and get out of the depression hole he's in. Imagine being told you're awful bc your brain is fucking over ur lil man down there. Dudes 13 going through all this and you wanna say he's like takemitchi after he just tried to kill himself. Depression kicked my ass and im 23. What do you expect from a kid forced to grow up so quickly

It wasn't about feelings, he liked her, but he has erectile dysfunction from Eris traumatizing him. It's not just that he can't get over her, like the lady said, hes terrified of getting involved with women now sexually psychologically. Only thing that could he help she said is if he can form a connection with someone he truly trusts that he knows would never betray him like Eris did

The full opening song is even better! It's sang from 2 different people, a man and a womans, and really well symbolizes Rudy's story both in his first life and second life and how he views life/love and his need to start over and be better for his loved ones now.

“What was [Rudy] trying to do?” He attempted suicide but Soldat smacked the dagger out of his hand before it hit his neck.

about the panties, you got that right, it's weird, you wish it was something else, but it is what it is. I know it looks really weird, inappropriate and disgusting, but that's only because we are seeing him in third person. Rudy worships that piece of clothing for reasons I know you already know, that piece of fabric was a memento of the person that helped him overcome his fear of the world, helped him made the first step. If not for that person he would not be here. At this point is big part of what drives rudy forward, it keeps him sane when he feels like he's losing it, it keeps him wanting to keep living when he feels like killing himself. That's why it's so important to him that he even makes a shrine for it in secret. Everyone has a secret in there own that they don't want anybody else to know (of course we know about the panty because we are watching), but that doesn't define him as a person. That's what this is telling us about.

I remember when I saw episode 3 and Rudy try to end himself with the knife I screamed so loud cause I really thought he died until homeboy stop Rudy

The panties are very important because this entire story is predicated on sex as a thing of pleasure and sex as a thing of love. If he had anything else it wouldn't symbolize that he went from being a very perverse child when he met Roxy to growing attached to her, respecting her, and wanting to honor her efforts. Most folks only see the panties for what they were.

It's just this is the first time in his life that he experienced things like that, Rudy don't have that kind of experience in past life and was even harder for him after all trauma he got being bullied and people just leave him. He doesn't know to handle that kind of experience, so its not easy for him to take it easy like you'd expect him to do, don't forget that he was already really depressed because of Eris before hand and already give up on his life during 1st episode, and when things seems starting to get better this happened.

The way I look at Rudy's erratic behavior at the end of ep3 is that he went through his whole previous life as an outcast and alone. Then he comes to this world and is able to improve and make some connections, but the one he wants the most left him with no explanation so he felt abandoned and alone again. Now, even though this situation was 95% his fault, he feels like he's been abandoned again and he doesn't want to go through that loneliness and pain again

i feel likes its important to note that Rudi isn't a drinker/doesn't have a super high tolerance at this time. Sara just so happened to hear Rudi rambling at his buddy while wasted. man was borne to be in the wrong place at the wrong time every time he makes a mistake... feels bad man feels bad

heard lot of good stuff, was hard for me to see rudeus like this cause i felt that before as well. When you think everything going super well in your life and it end in a instant. After he destroy his relation with sara he felt like everything he was doing, would just be meaningless since it would destroy in the end. The anime really give justice to this part. Once again i recommend reading the LN, there is so much stuff they didnt show in this arc. Im glad you guys notice that rudeus is maturing, some time have pass since the demon continent, wont tell you guys since they will mention it in episode 5.

sadly we couldnt get sara perpective in the anime, i really recommend de LN for those extra detail. lot of cut content in episode 2-3. Anime always suffer from it but still.

I was just hoping they would put more detail in the 3th episode. Like people think that sara said ''awful'' because rudy couldnt get it up when in fact it actually the opposite and that she tho she wasnt attractive enough to rudy. that why she snapped when he talked about her body being of a child, her pride couldnt handle it and so did rudy pride by his comment that was way out of line. Of course the monologue about her wanted to see rudy to appolyse about what happen but finding out he left is actually a big thing i find that they should have added that. She a side character to the serie so i dont blame them for it since it wont actually hurt the plot, nothing like eris, sylphy or roxy

so apparently something that was skipped over from the light novel is that Sara thought Rudeus' failure to get it up was her fault, she thought that Rudy might not like her body and felt awful about it.

Rudy started like a religion to his "goddess" Roxy by praying to her panties lmao. He feels safe doing so because Roxy saved him from his social anxiety when he was a kid. The effect Roxy had on him was so strong that even after more or less 10 years went by he's still gratefull to her. It's not pervyness what drived him to do so but admiration and gratefulness towards Roxy.

Honestly, its surprising how surface level yall are looking at this. Rudy doesnt just have insecurities. This is severe PTSD based on all his failed/strained relationships with friends, family and lovers...over two lifetimes. Remember what his first life was like. Remember he was literally questioning why people fight so hard to live. Now go back and rewatch the dagger scene in this episode. Its quick, like most decisions like it, but its screaming his pain in precious few frames. Rudy is hanging by a thread after being left by Eris, betrayed by his emotions and body as he starts to move on, adding literal insult to that situation. And finally, in trying to make himself feel better, he egregiously hurt someone he does care for.

Well in my own opinion this anime clearly is not for you guys to watch, a lot of deep information is not sinking in, in you guys because of the "Fun service" and "Sexual Stuffs" has more impact on you guys. But we still appreciate the effort you guys put in reconsidering to rewatch this anime.

24:38 One of the many reasons why I love, respect and appreciate this show as much as I do is how it handles and presents the sexual aspects. Most shows that have "fan service" need to keep projecting and throwing that around to keep retention up. Mushoku Tensei on the other hand largely uses it to propel, enrich and reinforce the story, despite the discomfort that causes us. I haven't read the source material, but it's a major part of who he was as a depraved recluse, and seems to be starting to become a less encompassing part of his life as other values gradually arise.

Roxy was told Rudy's mom was in the Begaritt continent, Rudy is current in the central continent. There are maps out there that show how huge their world their on is, its why took 3 years for Rudy to get home from the Demon Continent when him and Eris got teleported. There's caves all over the world though, this is not the area Rudy's mom was in

22:19 Rudy wanted to kill himself, fortunately he was detained by Zoldat. Elinalise was able to get to the town near Rudy because it's been a few years time skip, what you saw was Roxy and Elinalise on the demon continent the last time in season one before several years ago. Elinalise can get to the continent where Rudy is now. It should take a long time but because she got help from Elinalise's acquaintances when she was in the demon continent, she arrived faster, of course this story won't be told in the anime because it takes a lot of time.

the issue is he did the deed with eris then she immediatly left him with only a note all rudy can guess is he was terrible and she left him without even speaking to him the kid is insecure and easily hurt, also fun fact season 1 the medicine the shop keeper sold him remember what it was supposed to be used for but they dropped it after buying it for rudy while trying to ask him wat it was

With all due respect to studio bind, they didn’t necessarily do a good job of explaining how depressed Rudeus is at this point, nor do they show the aftermath of the events in these episodes. It’s not their fault, light novels can be as wordy as they want anyways, but look at these first couple of episodes from the angle of Rudeus feeling like he isn’t loved nor wanted by anyone in this world. To Rudeus it seems like everyone is tossing him aside like they did in his first life, even when he is making an active effort to have a positive influence on the people around him. It’s not that he isn’t attracted to Sara, his brain will just not let him get it up because of the mental anguish he went through last time it happened. The scene with Rudeus trying to off himself with the dagger is rash and impulsive, but that’s how most “self-deletions” are. From your point of view, it seems like you don’t really think he has it that bad or he’s being pathetic, but he keeps losing every meaningful connection he’s made in this world, and he’s just at the point where he can’t cope anymore

I wouldn't say he is still in love with Eris, he's definetively traumatised from the way Eris left after they did it. He is now scared of being ditched and have a bad perfomance. The trauma manifested in his erectile dysfunction. You should also watch the OVA, it is settled in Milis when Paul and Rudeus reunited and had their disagreement, the ova is centered aroud Eris and it shows how much she admired Rudeus as well as an encounter with new characters that will appear in next episodes. One of them appears in ep 5 of second season

Manga is behind. Web Novel is finished and Light Novel is on the final Novel, which is what the anime is following. The manga did a lot of scenes wrong and differently from the source material so they ignored it. They are getting the character designs etc directly from the sketches in the LN

Rudy really just tried to off himself so quick. Also the anime is doing a terrible job of explaining why he's in just horrible place emotionally. He has abandonment issues, its not just about Eris being his first.

If you're holding back your criticism, just let it all out and express yourself. If you're bored, might be better to just drop it.
