Do you ever worry about your dogs getting hurt when amongst all that kind of rubble? Have you had any dogs get hurt?

The dogs are incredibly good at avoiding injuries. Significant injuries are actually incredibly rare. With that being said, I do still worry about it because I love my animals.

Only one thing I would worry about. If they step on something very sharp or appointing out metal objects that could split open their paws but other than that dogs are just awesome to avoid injuries. Like Crocodile Dundee would say: "No worries mate"

With farms maintained that way, you'll never run out of contracts.
To answer the question on why dogs don’t mistake the mink and rats/mice is that dogs can smell different smells and latch on to one particular smell which is the rats and mice, Mark Rober just made a video on what makes a dog so good at tracking

Pitbulls can be amazingly deep and loyal dogs. My mom has always been a supporter of "bully breeds" and has been rescuing them from shelters to keep as companions for years. Pitbulls and pitbull mixes, rotties, and Doberman are a few of the more "vicious" ones we've rescued. The rottie and red dobie were both already seniors basically when adopted, and both died from cancer, but were THE sweetest old ladies ever. They were the most polite and conscientious dogs. The pitbulls/mixes we've had have all been amazing. The worst case we've ever had was one, which we think was a mix of neurological issues and behaviors instilled while a stray and at the shelter as a very young puppy. Mostly, she had food aggression. I'd managed to work it out of here for the most part, but she'd still sometimes snap at other animals that came close. Dogs are as different as people are. Some are born with less than healthy genetic or personality traits. It's unfortunate, but dogs with severe "defiencies" can't exist the same way humans do, and those are the ones the loudest opponents of bully breeds like to use as examples of the entire breed. The real issue is preventing abandoned dogs, which produce more strays and ferals, and also continue bad genetics down the line which could get some breeds in trouble later on. It sucks humans have to micromanage this, but it's our duty as the species that brought such diversity and complexity into the equation. We shouldn't just be dumping the ones that aren't bowing down to our authority or begging for attention. It's fine to prefer certain traits, physically and personality-wise, but doing it to such a severe degree is how we've gotten where we are. It's sad for the dogs and cats we've created. 😢
@Cheshyre.

I'm not a fan of them either; too many jerks have bred them to be aggressive, they remain a status symbol of aggression and people think it's the fashionable thing to do by game cutting their ears to make them look like a fighting dog and then whining about people not trusting the breed.

Pitbulls are still overrepresented in attacks on humans. So much so, many conferences bring them up on incedent mitigation. Campgrounds, RV parks, ect. It's highly unlikely that pitbull owners are not training their dogs well compared to others. Data suggests its the breed. Joseph has done an excellent job in not only his training, but selection of dogs.
Look at Bindi wait for them to kill it so she can pick it up and go put it in a bucket what a badass Dog well trained Joe
one thing I love about this channel is you solve animal problems with animals but not only that, but you sometimes feed some of the animals using the meat of the animals they hunt therefore they're still rewarded and motivated to help clear out pests that not only affect the wellbeing of the property they're on but also the ecosystem around them since as we know, these pests are usually over-populated or invasive and destroy the ecosystem. Another thing is that this is usually better than traps or poisons that also affect local life and/or are wasting a perfectly good rat corpse that could be eaten by another animal, although some people do dump the rats that have been deceased into the woods if they're close enough there aren't many people who do that. overall very good channel I've been subbed to over the years, also I tried not to say rat as much since you hunt way more than just rats edit: I just realized the relationship between the dogs and mink when hunting is reminiscent of coyotes and honey badgers when hunting prairie dogs
I'm fascinated with the mink's prowess and movements.

It's the mix of seeing these dogs have fun and their effectiveness at work and at the same time sharing that feeling of progress while slimming down the infestation of the farm.
It's really cool to see animals work together towards one goal! It's truly entertaining!
I wish the farmer would remove the old and unused parts, pieces and derelict equipment that he doesn't need or use anymore. Same goes for the out buildings. Despite your best efforts at pest control he is still maintaining the perfect habitat for the rats to hide, feed and breed. SMH 🥺🥺
Watching your videos always leaves me wanting more! They’re so exciting I don’t want them to end.

I absolutely love your videos. I commend your patience and training for not only the doggies but amazing mink. My only concern/question is why do you go to these junker properties? If it were me, I'd refuse to help these slobs out. If someone's land was unkept and trashed, I'd have some stipulations. ONE.....Clean your trash up..... the list would go on. I really hope you charge a hefty price for your hard work. It's like hiring a biohazard specialist to come clean up a disaster of a me+h lab (what have you) before the authorities "clear" the scene. Why go in before the scene is "secure"? But it's not that. So I'm genuinely curious as where you get the patience, and why you're willing to deal with certain slobs

Another reason poisons aren't good in the long run is that the rodents can become immune.

Hi, I watch all your videos and watching the ones that show you training your young dogs and minks always impress me , I never had the patience that you seem to have. I know nothing about training animals so I apologize if this is a dumb question but I was wondering if there is a way to teach a command that will tell the dogs to all come to you immediately, I ask because when you are going to lift something and there might be rats under you say WATCH and they pay attention to a spot you want them to, but sometimes many rats will run out and you have to call out their names one by one to get their attention, I alway think it would be so efficient that if that happened you could give one command and all dogs would know something exciting is happening where you point. Like I said I don’t know anything about training animals but I just wondered. I love watching your videos and thank you for the great content.
I find these videos fascinating.
that boss is something else. and Bindi seems like such a nice girl!
Thank for sharing! subscribed.
it's incredible to me how well train you have both your mink and the dogs, specially how the dogs wait for the mink to sometimes flush out the rats so they can kill them and at the same time don't hurt the mink in the process. My only real concern trough the video is the amount of debri in the area that could harm the dogs when they start running after the rats with all the wood, metal panels and nails, but other than that keep up the great work.
Beautiful!!!!
❤ loved it
I only really watch these to see the pretty doggies and cutie mink. 😂
I have a dobi mix, mostly dobi, that I think would do well at this. Despite being a bulky 75 lbs, she hikes many miles with me per week in rough terrain in the PNW and has great agility. By herself, she has caught squirrels, sparrows, quail, moles, mice, and grouse. Not quick enough for rabbits though. Totally good off-leash in all situations too, even big cities with many cars and people. One crazy thing is how tough coyotes are - two 25lb coyotes gave her real problems when she jumped a couple of em to save a Jack Russell.
Great vid 🔥✨
Can we give respect to the unsung hero today Bindi? Was both tracking and retrieving hound to cover the groups’ weak spots

Very impressive video and amazing to see the trading. I came to this video as we live on a lake in Canada and there is a family of mink that live on the edge of our property. We rarely see them and they seem to eat crayfish and fish mostly. They seem to as void our cat and vice versa. The real vermin in this video are the property owners who leave so much trash lying around. What a waste of land and resources. Not to mention toxic compounds leaching out of tires etc. clean that sh@t up!
Geezz,, after watching some of your video's, I now don't think we had such a huge issue with rats. We've been living here for 8 yrs. and never had a problem with rats. Sure we get the odd mouse in our basement, but nothing we couldn't handle. Early last Fall our neighbour put a fence up between our properties. In order for him to put the fence up, he had to take down some trees,,bush etc. Well it wasn't long after that we started noticing some burrow holes close to the foundation of our house. Then we started hearing them fighting in our basement walls. OMG, it was the nastiest thing. Baited some rat traps and put poison out. Only caught 3. We had to resort to calling an exterminator. He put out 4 bait boxes with poison and also some poison cubes around the basement. Within a week we got 15 including some that were in our detached garage. Bait boxes are still out there, we've just covered the burrow holes the other day. So now we wait and watch. LOVE your video's. Your dogs and weasels are amazing!!
That farmer would get his stuff in order. Good dogs and mink.
Love your vids. Just one thing, when you are lifting big pieces of plywood or the like, your dogs are charging in. If there were any nails through that wood they would really hurt themselves. Check first before they rush in under plywood etc.. It really is humane, its incredible how quickly the rats are dispatched..
My Dad hunted with Ferrets & Terriers & never had a problem, Joseph has a great balance, well done lovely. Also, continual praise works wonders. Greetings from Cyprus. 👍👍🐶🐶❤❤
Would the rats vacate if these farms cleaned up some of the clutter and garbage?
Maybe the farmer needs to haul off all that trash and neatly stack the wood.
Nice job 👏
Bindi has very good control for a APBT, especially around other dogs and not fighting other dogs for the rat.
Have you ever tried the dog "boots" that are used on sled dogs to protect their feet from ice and rocks?
It may help the farmer if he kept his property cleaner. Take the metal to the scrap yard. Have a burn pit to burn the wood, ect. I had relatives who were farmers and their property was never like this.
A junk yard in Philadelphia would be shut down for having tires, batteries, and wood laying around like that.
Your minks and dogs are amazing! What kind of breed are your pups?
I was concerned about the rusty, harmful stuff everywhere. You'd said in another comment significant injuries are uncommon, though, which is good. I'm curious about what your future plans are using mink in this way. Are you going to plan for future generations to tamer and more handleable, especially in working as a team with the dogs? Or are you focusing on honing their prey drive and leave them as-is? Just curious. :)
@JosephCartertheMinkMan
11 ай бұрын
My focus is mostly prey drive, trainability (which is mostly food drive), confidence, and athletic ability. Handleability being a trait I like, but it is at the very bottom of the list of desirable traits.
So they’ve tried with everything to get rid of those rats but a good clean up never crossed their minds!? 🤔 Awesome job you do and your gang deserves a medal!!
