Excellent review. Basically covered all the points from an end-user POV.
the things that i like: -the upgradability : you can add more ram and ssd as well -the rgb effects -the keyboard shortcuts and layout -the speakers are bloody amazing -it's damn fast: it takes only less that 10 seconds to boot up -relatively good battery life for a gaming laptop ( around 4 hours) -the screen -and more... the things that i don't like so far: -the keyboard flex on the wasd side (even the keycaps doesn't sound the same) -after the bios update the fans are now louder than before. -the power brick is HUGE and very bulky.

In the pro 7i I actually prefer Intel slightly. But really just get whichever is cheaper
After watching this, a stock temperature of 90°C on the CPU on heavy load sounds like needing to open it every three months to clean it out, I don't think the Intel variant seems to be an option for me. Also a sad thing that there's no AMD graphics card option (at least in my country), I was thinking of switching to linux, which would make this laptop a no go for me. Aside from that, with an AMD CPU this seems like a really good deal
I've had the 4090 7i pro for a week now, Does not play audio when outputting on hdmi to a tv at 120hz.. There are loads of threads on this problem. USB audio out also randomly stutters. I’m not sure about the cooling on the 4070. Tbh non of them run hot on the gpu side. One major advantage is the lower wattage this year. My main gripe is there is a major perf boost going 4080. They are very different machines. Helios predator has both CPU and GPU in mid 90s, its awful, M16 Alienware's GPU runs mid 70s but CPU touches 100 often. G18 and omen run similar with GPU in low 80s and CPU in mid-high 80s. Legion had its GPU in mid 70s and CPU in mid 80s. If anybody is looking for a 4080/4090 laptop go with either Legion or g18 or omen. I am leaning towards Legion because it had the best thermals, great build quality, and it doesn't scream that its a gaming laptop. It has many great offers going (plus I can get a student discount) ) so I might get a 4080 around $2300 or a 4090 for $2800. Just mulling if a 4090 is worth extra $500 for a 12-15% performance boost.

No. 3080 has more vram, and better memory bus/bandwidth. It uses more power though
I wish we see a full comparison between this year and last year legion 7
Incredibly the 4080 and 4090 have almost the same price now. Just bought the 4090 with 2tb and 32gb ram for 2500! With tax!

yes the prices are becoming very compelling
Just as loud as mine. I've always hated gamer logic. "Just put on headphones!" Idiots online also blindly believe vapor chamber=superior thermals. Idiots don't realize it's just another type of heatpipe, and you ultimately still need to blow the heat away, and small fans mean loud laptop. Thicker laptops don't benefit much from vapor chamber as there is diminishing returns whereas the regular heatpipes become better as they get thicker. That's why vapor chamber is great for thin and light laptops or smartphones but not so much roomier laptops. Gaming laptops don't have to be loud, and not everyone has to play on full blast at max speed, but Lenovo didn't pay heed to such basic logic. The fan profiles are borked and you can't adjust fan speeds slower, even though there is plenty of thermal headroom. Apparently they try to pander to your tech enthusiast side with specs and the illusion of control but ultimately treat you like a dumb child who can't make their own performance adjustments. On the lowest fan profile which is the only decent sounding one the temps drop to the 50s...BUT they kill the power so much it performs like a 4060. So WTF am I doing with 30C worth of extra thermal headroom? The card doesn't throttle until 87C and they are designed to work at these high temps with no issues. Yet Lenovo in their infinite wisdom thinks it's okay to have 80C temps in high performance jet engine fan mode but dear god the same temps at lower fan speed is DANGEROUS! Could have easily gotten 90% the performance at much quieter fans, if Lenovo wasn't so asinine. The low contrast washed out condom covered screen is also trash tier. Ditto the speakers. And yes I returned that screamer straight away. At least there's one other person who isn't paid to gush about the $400 laptop keyboard. It may be shaped like a thinkpad but it's a fraud.
Which laptop is more powerful?

I also wanted the AMD version but even in China my friends couldn't find it. So i bught the intel version Y9000P with 4090 just today.

Not a bad idea. It launches in a week.
I wonder how it performs in VR

It should do well. I don’t use VR, but in theory it’s like a wattage limited 4080 desktop.

I'm not sure about wired but wireless VR is not great on it using Virtual Desktop and Quest 2. Ethernet from laptop to dedicated VR router and Quest 2 to dedicated router. I get too many lag spikes and it messes with the experience. I use the same dedicated router to connect to my desktop PC with 4090+13900k and it had no such issues. It's only the laptop. Might be the realtek Ethernet, might be something else, don't know.

@@rayw8252 Thank you. I was using an Asus F15 laptop (3060 RTX) with virtual desktop just for Flight simulator 2020. Since my original question I decided moving towards a desktop PC with a 4090 RTX OC.
I just bought one, I regreted it. The keyboard is worse than the previous edition, so flexible when i press "S" button, all button around sink too !!! On my legion 5, I don't have this problem.
Get it with Amd

Got my RTX 4090 7i for $2,600, couldn't pass that up. Directly from Lenovo.
i got the 2022 3080ti 7i instead of the 2023 4090 because i felt that the quality of the underchassis and accents were a bit "gamey" for my liking. 2022 had a more minimalist design to pack serious power under the hood without making it look like a gamers laptop. With the 2022 3080ti, you could literally bring this into your board room and conduct staff meetings with no one noticing that it's a gamer focused laptop. since i crunch numbers on the numpad, i chose this laptop vs all the other competitors out there. There are others in the market which beat this laptop but for mixed professional and gaming use, this is almost like a well balanced touring car in terms of appeal and performance

The chassis of the 2022 7 and 7i are better for sure . I had the 2022 7 amd. The speakers are better on the 2023 but that’s about it (outside of obviously better specs). I think a lot of people should eye the 2022 models if they can find it. Hell lenovo still has them on their site
Wait for Vega

Money sucks, expensive laptops 4 days
I wonder why they decided to put there this ugly plastic thing around ... aha, now I know. They want to put it on the "lower" shelf compared to the Legion Pro 9i ... where you can upgrade the SSDs and WiFi easily, while the RAM slots are from the other side of the motherboard - which is very very bad :-) so I would really prefer to buy this 7i.

4080=£2000. 4090 (+15fps) £2700 🤔
