This song... simply Zeppelin strutting and having fun, while Robert Plant spins a tale about a rumored night in New Orleans when 'someone' in the group found himself in a hotel room with a 'woman' who, by that time of night, was developing five o'clock shadow. Read the lyrics when you can... the best line being... New Orleans queens Sure know how to schmooze it Maybe for some that seems alright When I step out, strut down with my sugar She'd best not talk like Barry White.

I love this album, but if I had one complaint, it would be that the overall sound seems a bit on the thin side. I’m pretty sure they were going for that sound, but I would love to hear it thickened up in a remaster.

Reminiscent of The Crunge for me. Just another layer of Led Zeppelin. Can't wait until tomorrow! A quintessential Zep song. It has all the elements. One of those songs I would use to turn on people to Zep. ✌

The last gig I went to before the pandemic in the UK was Fairport Convention. There was to be a support act but it wasn’t named, so you should have heard the gasps when Robert Plant wandered onto the stage… voice still fantastic!

@@BBaldwin I have another Led Zep anecdote, if it's of any interest, and it's kind of a bookend to the Robert Plant one. I was at art school in 1976 and a bunch of us went to Leicester Square in London to see the Zeppelin gig documentary The Song Remains the Same. We ended up occupying about a third of the front row of the cinema and after it ended one of the ushers said that some of us (including me) had been sitting in the same seats as Led Zep had used at the premier the week before. Probably bollocks but it felt great at the time). Due to my great age the only thing I remember of the film itself was an extremely long rendition of Stairway to Heaven, which seemed to last for hours.

Zeppelin loved to go to gay/drag bars when staying in Louisiana because they could be relatively anonymous and not get hassled. This song is supposedly about John Paul Jones bringing a drag queen back to the hotel and not realizing she wasn't a cis girl. Jonesy says that yes, while "Stephanie" joined him in his room, he knew she wasn't biologically female but they were there to get high. He said they rolled a couple of joints and both passed out, setting fire to the hotel room. Robert further tweaked Jonesy's nose by mentioning "John Cameron" in the song lyrics who happened to be a rival of Jonesy's from back in his session musician days.
