That was the correct decision to "not go back" after a screwdriver (or whatever it was); too many mishaps occur doing useless chasing around on group rides. Also, slowest/smallest bike first is advisable. I used a Ninja 300 to lead a group of larger bikes beginning in 2013 here in the foothills of Virginia, the Gold Wing riders asked me to slow down a little bit 😊

In full honest disclosure, the “screwdriver“ was part of my tripod. It was the boom handle the second part of my video which got lost showed this.. lol.. I now have a new tripod. 😂 yes good idea about the slowest bikes first :D !
That route... seems like I've ridden it? Will have to double-check ;)
