    You put a lot of effort into making this video, it's going to help a lot of people out. You did a good job, the clear instructions and pictures demonstrated exactly what needs to be done. I've done the valves twice on my bike, first time, all but two of the valves were tight, last time they were ok, the job takes me more than half an hour, with practice, I'll get better. Take care and ride safe.

    Very well explained! Thank You! Here is how my first service went. At first I was dissatisfied because everything seemed so much more complicated than in the "olden days". All the cables and hoses just to be able to remove the tank. On my old XS650, I only had to remove a small Lid that was fixed with two cap nuts and be done with it When I was finished with the tappet adjustment, the bike wouldn't start. Cursing all the time I double-checked all the connectors only to find out, that I was still in 5th gear and, unlike the old motorcycles, she had noticed that.

    @@ridewithwarro Your video is very helpful and detailed, thanks again. Also important is your advice not to overtighten the bolts, many bolts should only be tightened to 8-10 Nm according to the manual. Also these modern spark plugs tolerate very little torque and Royal Enfield recommends even less than Bosch. For those who are not as experienced as you, I'd advise you to use a torque wrench. (if only I had had the chance to see the video before I did the work)

    Your videos are better than my eyes. I failed to get the gasket back in the grooves properly I assume, some oil leaking left side. Well at least I know the dealer will be adjusting the tappets and not just saying they did, lol. Video is fantastic; looks bigger, clearer, and easier than real life. I have a replacement gasket now for my next attempt at 6200 miles. Is that right? After first adjustment, you can go 10,000 km before adjusting again? RE has time element tossed in there but I fail to see how that matters. Thanks for all you do.

    Excellent video which helped me to service the tappets on my Meteor, but I wasn't sure about your TDC alignment. But next to the hole there is an arrow which i used to align TDC rather than the hole. When the arrow is aligned, the hole is offset slightly to the right which is how the tool would clamp onto it because from the images I have seen of it, the pin is offset slightly to the right. Everything else was useful information especially which side is the exhaust and inlet.

    Glad it helped and you got the job done and save a few $$ doing it yourself too. ref to the tdc hole. when i spoke to the dealer asking about the tdc tool - he just told me just make sure tdc is at the top and it will do...lol so far all good and i've done a few thousand kl since then. all the best and enjoy the ride till the next adjustment further down the track.

    Great video and comment. Personally, however, I think that there is no need to interfere with the valve head as long as the engine goes as it should go.

    As the valves bed in, the gap or tappet clearance reduces. I just did mine yesterday for the 300 mile service and found both inlet and exhaust clearances were very tight. As the engine heats up, this clearance naturally reduces due to expansion. Without proper clearance, the valve will not seat properly causing poor performance and more importantly a burnt valve. I would STRONGLY recommend that this operation not be avoided!

    Thx for your DIY vid. I actually as yet dont have the 350 but am strongly considering it as a second bike, cant make my mind up either Halcyon Grey or Chrome Red (kinda worried will get bored with the Hal.Grey beut tho it may be), then theres $800 diff between them, cant see the justification for the extra on the Chrome Red as the Halcyon has more paint on, the Green and Grey Halcyon have a remarkable paint job imho. Anyway back to my question, I have the 2021 Classic 500 Tribute Black model and am wondering did you make a similar vid on the 500? Clocked up 3k on it so far. PS. On average whats best discount can you get on theyre RRP prices with how many months rego? Am down in Melbourne.

    I don't understand at 19:07min into your video where you appear to be adding a permatex gasket maker to hold the factory gasket. Doesn't this ruin the gasket for the next use and was this their silicone based "right stuff" gasket maker?

  • @ridewithwarro

    @ridewithwarro

    Жыл бұрын

    remember if your bike goes to a dealer-there is no second chance. the original gasket is pulled and replaced. now back to 19.07 -i placed a very small smear of the sealer in all 4 sections just to hold the gasket in place. i did not overload the whole channel. the dab was just to hold while i seated it. ive had the gasket off roughly 6 times...its getting slack! in your case first attempt -it should just slide into the channel and hold its position. in that case no gasket sealer required. as for issues with the gasket sealer-i have had none and if i use a bit to hold it-i can peel it over no trouble
