That’s the norm now for a clean, industry standard ship and experience. Now it’s others that are more reasonable yet it’s a reason for that……

We have stopped cruising with Royal - I am not interested in private Islands or booze cruising and a lot of itineraries are super expensive when I compare them to Celebrity, Princess or Virgin. Even the older small ships are pricey. I booked two cruises - one 7 day on Celebrity and one 10 day on Princess (brand new ship) for the price of one Royal Caribbean 7 day cruise. Both of those itineraries included the Premium packages for drinks, gratuities, dinners etc. 17 days of cruising almost all inclusive for $6,500.00 total in Canadian! It is insane what Royal is charging now. We have loved all of our cruises with them but refuse to pay the huge amounts they are charging.

My wife and I are in the same boat. We have sailed almost exclusively with RC for the last 15 years but now we don't have any cruises booked with them and 8 cruises booked on multiple other lines. We have several friends and family doing the same thing.

I'm happy RC is moving forward and blowing the industry away. It's great for my stock. However, I do not agree with excessive price increase for many items and cruises now days.

Just came off of The Icon last Saturday and all I can say is WOW!! WOW!!WOW!! I am not typically impressed with ships and the shows on the ships but this one was literally in a class of its own!!! Already booked for next April 2025! We had an AFT balcony room on the 7th floor and it was a great deck. Love the new elevator system and the piano that rode the elevator!! Great trip!!

We are booked for Icon in September. I must say that we got our stateroom at a bargain price. Less than $3K for the 2 of us, we feel awfully good after seeing the astronomical prices that are now out there.

Compared to other cruise lines, Royal Caribbean has had the most successful launch of a new ship / class of ship with the Icon. Other lines have been launching new lovely ships, but the fan fare is not to the level of Icon. I want to go on this ship, but need the prices to moderate some. They will of course still be higher, but right now they are driving demand with people seeing how incredible a ship it is. They have hit the advertising on the nose! Plus I have been on 5 sailings since the restart, and have had enjoyable experiences every time.

I usually sail Regent since I am not a fan of certain lower demographics and they have great destinations (going on a 24 day Africa cruise this fall) however the Icon of the Seas is quite intriguing to me

I LIKE RC TOO, BUT JUST TOO MANY PEOPLE ON A SHIP FOR ME! YES. A SMALLER VESSEL PLEASE...

You can call this supply and demand. The more demand the higher the price. This can't last forever.

I love Royal Caribbean. This is the best. Out of the cruise lines I've been on, I always come back to Royal. Top tier for me.

I want to hear more about this Discovery Class fleet of smaller ships!

Mentions of the new class from Captain's Corners point toward it being larger than Vision class, but slightly smaller than Voyager class for that New Panamax form factor. Primary itineraries they're supposedly designed for are things like Alaska and the Mediterranean; scenic destinations with smaller ports. Possible launch in 2029 to 2030 time frame for the first one in the class.

If I went on Icon of the Seas, I would have to start paying for it at least 3 years before I actually get on the ship. Haven’t been on a cruise since several years prior to the pandemic. With the prices now, I probably won’t be seeing a cruise vacation in the near future. Sounds like my money would be better spent on an all-inclusive trip. But for those who can afford it, my hat’s off to you.

Hi again Justin! It's Liz, your #1 follower from Delray Beach. I am a 58 year old disabled RN and cruise once a year on Celebrity with my mom who is 92 and pays my way. I am super shocked that so many people can afford these Icon class ships. All I can think of is a HUGE ship filled with millionaires. I personally don't know anyone who has that kind of cash to pay a cruiseline for 1 week. Do you actually know of regular folks who go on these expensive ships?

We are average people RNs as well. We booked the Icon before it set sail over a year ago. Prices were not high as they are now. It was higher than Voyager however affordable. So many people cruising on her now may have booked early like us which saved tons. We could not book it right now at the demand prices. 😁❤️🌴

Definitely not the price of Icon now but I definitely could've booked a few cruises on Celebrity which is my mom's favorite cruise line. I hope you girls had a fantastic time if you already went and if you haven't gone yet I am sure the ship is totally amazing!

RCI is certainly #1 for high prices among mainline cruiselines.

I'm good with cruise lines having competition. They need to earn our business.. So earn it!

Carnival, princess, and Holland are partners with Windcreek casinos in Alabama.. these cruise lines be eating big time off gamblers! Royal is definitely in position to corner the market

Not if it forgets the regular middle class passengers and what they are able to afford. If they continue to charge sky high prices, I hope they fall on their collective behinds.

I love Royal Caribbean. Happy they are coming out with smaller ships to balance the mega ships.

Rci is very good. The problem is their ships are packed.

Don’t sail on carnival then, the Mardi Gras is literally the same amount of passengers as the Oasis class ships but Mardi Gras is 50ft shorter and 40,000 tons lighter. I’ve never thought the oasis class ships were to packed since they disperse people well

I really hope Royal doesn't increase prices drastically due to how successful Icon is. Icon is just too overpriced IMO when you look at comparable sailings on even the Oasis Class (specifically Wonder) where for the same sailing days/itinerary you can get a SUITE on Wonder.... or an INTERIOR on Icon. Those should not be so drastic of a difference and sadly you're probably right in the raising of fares due to Icon's success, however still.

I agree. When I saw their prices, I was floored. Ive been to exotic destinations like Bora Bora and Maldives for the prices of Icon of the Seas. I can also go on some suites on different cruise lines 2-3 times for those prices.

Book with a travel agent and stop paying direct with the cruise line. You can literally get 2000$ off the advertised price on RCCLs website.

RCL Stock is already above pre-pandemic prices. CCL & NCL Stock is still around 3 times less than 2019.

Royal is dominating the market right now. Operationally, Royal is in a league of their own. From a management team perspective there is no comparison between Royal and the other cruise lines. It appears the other cruise lines are in catch up mode vs Royal.

I'm a Royal Caribbean convert. I was "loyal" to Carnival, but realized they were not giving me any loyalty back, so I quit them, tried Virgin Voyages (which I found boring) and went back to Royal Caribbean. I also have two Celebrity cruises planned and get a reciprocal loyalty membership from Royal Caribbean with lots of great perks. I love the ships and entertainment on Royal, but I really miss the friendliness of the crew and passengers on Carnival.

When i reach platinum on Carnival which i need 2 more cruises, then i venture out & try other cruise lines.

I am Loyal to Royal. Their entertainment, especially on the Oasis class ships, is way beyond other cruise lines. Their customer service is wonderful, their food is really good, and their bigger ships have tons of free activities for kids and the young at heart. I also think their loyalty programs through both the cruise line and the casino are great.

AND THIS IS WHY I AM LOYAL TO ROYAL!😊

I will pay the price for a better experience with Royal Caribbean. Good for them it makes our experience better and a better brand

Love the video and comments below. As RC continues to move forward with bigger, flashier ships and islands and casino partnerships, you mentioned the company investing in a smaller ship class for those that do not desire the moves forward. I can live with that. I love Holland America and Celebrity as does my wife. We have a very busy life and we just want to unwind with great food, piece and quiet on a cruise when we go. As long as we have that opportunity moving forward, I'm thrilled that the industry is attracting everyone. I would choose cruising over an all-inclusive resort any day of the week.

Your are spot on correct. However, Celebrity, the only cruise line we travel, have REDUCED onboard amenities while at the same time raising prices. Not good.

I love Royal Caribbean, we have so much fun and they treat us so good. I really love the big ships not the small ones. My favorite part is being out at sea.

Hi J, where can I find the video of your, R. C. Vision of the Seas review?

I said during the pandemic all cruises would raise & they did. We also are seeing more people cruising than they did. It still is a more affordable vacation than if you went some other places. As long as people will pay it they will charge it & we will see increases continue, at some point it will become too expensive for some but until many stop going this is what we will continue to see. We have sailed other lines but prefer Royal Caribbean, we enjoy the Oasis class because they are such ships. It’s not just RC that’s prices are up they all are. We try to book ours out as far as we can, just booked one for 2025 while cruising in April. Next year will be Wonder of the Sea but want one this fall so we are looking for it.

I love RC - just cruised Symphony back in January - loved it! Glad we got RC stock awhile ago. I'm not happy with all the add ons tho-but everyone is doing it.

Smart move and you're right Utopia is even newer than Icon and its going to be spectacular in its own right!

Private islands vs private clubs are the issue. On Labadee of Coco Cay it's better than a regular port stop because food/transportation and some activities are complimentary so you can choose the upsell if you want. In Nassau/Cozumel there's no free option, you pay to go. I've cruised Royal since childhood but are finally trying out NCL (and possibly others) because of the ridiculous prices.

Every cruise line treats their crew the same way. They are happy to have a job, also they know what they will be getting working on ship. They also gets extra tips from travellers. I travel on different cruise line and they all say the same thing. They are treated fairly, some will complain because they are away for a long period, however that's the job criteria. People will always complain, can't please everyone.

I went on a cruise in December . I was able to enjoy the Diamond free drinks, but I much prefer the laid back vibe of an all inclusive resort especially Hyatt Zilara in DR. Also, Royal’s food quality and service have also devalued. It’s definitely not the same after pandemic.

Jay when will you make new videos about working on cruise ships? I think Cruising KZread is lacking in that area, I’ve seen all of your older stuff but we need more!

What got me 'Royal to Royal' is their casino offers. It's just cheaper for me to go on Royal Carribean. However, what really goes against them is their smaller ships. They've seen better days and often I am smelling a mixture of sewage and food in my cabin or smelling this when I am going off the ship OR you have the toilet that doesn't work in my state room and I can't seem to get a hold of the front desk using the room phone. The toilet itself either didn't want to flush in my room or decided to overflush to instead flood the bathroom. I do like the big ships and the small ships for different reasons. Big ships more amenities. Smaller ships, I can go different ports. The large royal Carribean ships just go to the same ports all the time. For instance on the Eastern Carribean trips, I can only do so much Saint Thomas or Saint Maartin etc.

ALL cruise lines are charging crazy amounts. I've priced 1 week for Icon, about $6000 for three people in a balcony, Carnival Mardi Gras was about $5600 for one week, 3 people in a balcony, it seems Norwegian would be the most affordable because you get all the extras that you would have to pay for on the other cruise lines, MSC is cheap but I took a cruise on Seashore and that cruise line is NOT for me. So we will be doing short cruises with them land vacations to places we haven't been to yet in Florida.

Wondering if the partnership with Hard rock will work both ways. As a Diamond cruiser with Royal, will I get benefits and offers for Hard Rock?

They're not getting me. I look at their prices and look elsewhere. My son and his family did Carnival then 2 RC this MSC. He kept saying his favorite was Carnival. After we did Carnival a month ago, then he was jealous 😂 and said we have to do Carnival again. My 2 favorite cruises were Princess and Carnival. We did Celebrity and not really tempted to go back. The atrium was dark and not good seating and we love the top deck walking track which RCCL has taken out. Btw, we do 10 days or more cruises and are not drinkers or party-ers.

We just came off a weekend cruise with Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas!! It was Awesome! My first big ship… 4th time cruising… 2 with Royal and 2 with Carnival… it’s been 7 years since I went on RC and Coco Cay… Coco Cay was just the beach back then so it’s amazing what they had done in 7 yrs… We did the adult only Hideaway section, that was nice… we only paid $22 pp since April is not peak season…Also we enjoyed the shows on Allure (ice skating and Aqua show) they were top notch) went on mid size Carnival last year, paid almost same price and didn’t get the Entertainment I got on RC… also RC food was better… I may be sticking with Royal, I don’t mind paying a little more for good entertainment and food

Wife and I are loyal to royal. We prefer the older ships. They are generally cheaper. Icon is way too expensive for us. We are about 2 hours away from Hard Rock in Tampa. We may go there to earn some points. We are not big gamblers, but maintain prime status on club royale casinos.

Have you ever covered specialty cruises, not the standard or themed cruises, like archaeology cruises?

Look forward to the Discovery class, as long as they keep the passenger count under 4,000 (less would be better). Even if they just update the older ships to a high standard, I would be good with that.

I know that you are a Royal Caribbean fan, but Carnival is still twice the size across all of their brands...

Not a surprise that Royal is so successful. They have the best customer loyalty program in the business. Also if you book a year or more in advance you get the best rates for sure.

Worst cruise I’ve ever taken was with Royal but after almost ten years I think I might try them again (I’ve been cruising with NCL and haven’t had anything that’s even come close to how bad that Royal cruise was…) because they do have some interesting destinations.

I think of it simply this way. If you want a good itinerary then do not go on Royal. If you go just for the ship then Royal it is. However that changes slightly in Europe as Royal have better itineraries. Matching other cruise lines. About mid priced.

You are a Factor, turn the NOMAD loose on some of this break dancing. Love your channels. The NOMAD goes where the challenges are, like satisfying us with great videos. Take me on another cruise J.

I have only been on RC once and every time I want to go again the price scares me away. I don’t see the justification for the excorbament price tags for the newer ships. $2k for an interior room is not attractive. But people are buying and they are selling out. I don’t get it. I love Celebrity. I hope they will reconsider their pricing so it is more accessible to average cruisers.

TV microwave dinners are coming back

Factor is just like a frozen dinner and looks like smaller potions. Cook healthy meals or with your fiance. Its fun. Factor again is just like the frozen dinner at any grocery store and Factor cost more. But for you always running around meal prep take a few of those ( if you can) they even cost more.Do the ship dinning a few days just make healthy choices. And a few factors. But if you can't bring food on just start making smarter choices. When me and my fiance went I ended up loosing 18lbs he gained 11.lol I went in chubby and out 2 dress sizes smaller. He took advantage of all the food and drinks .I drank gallons of water and plain tea. No alcohol except the first one that knocked me on my ass.

I have experience rudeness on all ships. But you have to report it to higher up.

The private island thing is growing in popularity partially because of the crime now seen in the traditional ports of call in the Caribbean. They just are not safe any longer.

Seems to me that if the prices keep rising this way, and all other cruise lines follow suit, eventually as ordinary cruisers are going to be priced out. I hope that doesn’t happen 😢

GO @Royalcaribbean ! We have stock and it has been soaring. They are doing everything right. I do love other cruise lines, too. But have been on RCCL since 1986. Was on SilverSeas before RCCL bought them. The best high end cruising out there. Celebrity is awesome and they have Captain Kate doing all here social media for the Beyond. She is the best. They are doing everything right.

Full size candie bars cant be anymore expensive the. If you gorged yourself on food buffet, its honestly genius they dont have to have anyone cook and you will likely make yourself sick before you eat to much

They'll eventually shed the pandemic-related debt. Export financing for new ships is still relatively cheap. Royal Caribbean is going to be an absolute monster going forward.

Everyone knows RC is the cream of the crop, but at the same time I do believe they’re getting too pricey. Hopefully prices will go down soon because to continually charge these exorbitant prices isn’t sustainable for return cruisers who aren’t rich.

Yep I am also done with Royal Caribbean I don't want to go an island that has no history. They also need to learn how to cook grits.
