I agree preventative maintenance is always best. The problem is the daily start and stop steps mean I can't automate based on a temperature sensor.

I’m pretty upset about my classic 16 inch 3 speed. I’ve gone through two motors since I’ve gotten it. Today my motor went again. I was able to get it off, but I had to take a grinder to all the rusted nuts and screws. You would think they would use some kind of stainless. When I got the motor out, water just poured from it. I called Portacool to see about getting a new motor, they informed me that my model is obsolete, and there was nothing they could do. I can’t find a motor anywhere, I’ve searched, called and googled everything I could.

Genpak in utah uses these, been there a few times, brand new units, dying, they wont change the materials, they wont delime the units.

I have one of these and after 2 years of use, and following these basic instructions, the unit smells to high heaven. This is not the way to maintain your portacool. Does anyone know how to actually clean one of these

They need to design a better way to replace the submersible pump, which needs replacement every one-two years, no matter how well you maintain it.

These pumps are horrible
