I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

I have one of these and after 2 years of use, and following these basic instructions, the unit smells to high heaven. This is not the way to maintain your portacool. Does anyone know how to actually clean one of these

i just seen the ad, so i check out your whole store and everything looks awesomeness, i can feel the air blowing my mind away. you can see all the parts in it, i love it. they have a cool tech look to it , well done.

First off what a great review!!!!! You hit the mobility part dead on. Just picked up one and experienced all the same except the wheels falling off. It needs all directional wheels in the front for easy maneuvering. I wasted over half the water trying to move it. It looks like I’ll be dragging the 100ft hose out on next refill. It also has this weird smell of electric wires burning but that probably due to the material being new. Hopefully the smell goes away soon. Over all it cools great. Dropped my garage temperature over 18F degrees in about an hour. It’s 95F in MS and my garage is 77F. I like it just needs a few upgrades to make it easier to move. To top it all off, picked it up a Academy Sports for $249 which was originally $399. ($150 off).

I’m pretty upset about my classic 16 inch 3 speed. I’ve gone through two motors since I’ve gotten it. Today my motor went again. I was able to get it off, but I had to take a grinder to all the rusted nuts and screws. You would think they would use some kind of stainless. When I got the motor out, water just poured from it. I called Portacool to see about getting a new motor, they informed me that my model is obsolete, and there was nothing they could do. I can’t find a motor anywhere, I’ve searched, called and googled everything I could.

is this machine durable in use considering the price is more expensive than other brands? I have a trauma to a machine like this because the pump breaks very quickly and also the bottom of the machine uses a cover like a plastic hose so if it is opened more than twice it will leak.

First off the Porta cool 510 is a terrible design, upon opening the box in excitement you can't help but wonder if this thing is just going to start working or did you just spend $430 on a piece of junk, it looks and feels like a great design, but there are some things that just aren't practical. First are the wheels, the wheels are placed in such a way that tells you this thing is going to be easy to transport, but it's not especially filled with water, we were in a position where we had to fill up the 510 in one area and transported to the location where we would be stationed in another area, but the moment you tilt it back to transport it, all the water spills out through the media and floods your shoes. Forcing you, to keep it flat on the ground and slide it on the floor Wheels ahead of you which now causes a dragging motion along the undercarriage of the 510, and after 3 days of doing that, a hole already rips through the bottom of your tank, there was no other way to transport while full of water for safe operation. Not only that, but the very first day of using the 510, the wheels just kept falling off nothing else came in the box but a manual and the 510, the wheels are not even fastened to the straight bar axle it comes with so while transporting the wheels just fall off. The area in which I was trying to cool was a small 10x20 tent space at the State Fair, it took quite a while for that space to be cooled off by the 510, the fan is very weak, and doesn't push out the air that you would hope for, after this is all said and done, $430 seems like way too much for a product that has terrible mobility when filled with water, cheap plastic undercarriage that with just a little bit of drag will rip a hole right in your water tank, wheels that fall off and are not fashioned or tightened down to the unit, and a fan that does not have the power you need to cool a simple 10x20 area. For $430 this product is a dud, don't spend your money find something else.

Took longer than the video shows but relatively easy. You have to hold the Screw in place while you use a socket wrench to undo the nuts that hold the bracket on.

I have been using this model for 5 years and just now the reset on the power cord is stuck and won't stop clicking. Everything works fine but the reset able switch won't reset. Any suggestions?

Genpak in utah uses these, been there a few times, brand new units, dying, they wont change the materials, they wont delime the units.
