That's great Chip. I have other comparison videos on the DeWalt and both Bosch routers as well. Good luck deciding!

I'm a professional carpenter with and old trim, and D handle 3 1/4 hp P.C. I was looking for a real review, and surprisingly yours was one of the few I found. I appreciate that you are a legitimate human with a non A.I voice and you are not pushing a brand. You touched on many of the questions I had with today's newer routers. I like the thought of buying a designated inverted router with adjustments on the desk. See, I didn't even know those were a thing. Good video, Great Information. Thanks From Nitty Gritty Construction LLC!

Hello, great video. My local woodworking shop is selling the 3-1/4 HP Felisatti for $160. I've used the equivalent Freud for about 10 years but the bearings are finished. Would you recommend fixing, new Felisatti or a more accessible model?

I love the old Freud routers, and have two FT1700 routers myself. They aren't made anymore though, so I probably wouldn't spend much having them fixed. It all depends what you need and what brand you trust I guess. 3-1/4 hp, so I assume you're looking for a router table machine. If you're using a dedicated lift, many models will work fine. Best

2:03 Oh I see. But I think I saw a guy on YT use a top bearing, plunge but, w a shallow 1/2 inch cut length bit on a plunge base: He took a first shallow pass with the template on top. Then removed the template and the inside wall of the first cut became the “template” for successive, deeper cuts. But Insee what you are saying. If your plunge mechanism slips, you could easily back the cutter into your template, ruining it.

Yes, I think you are seeing my point exactly Andre. There are times when I'll use a plunge base with a bearing guided bit, but you have to be careful. Best

If the plunge slips then the router isn't that great is it? The Plunge aome routers have a positive feedback lock. That being said, many of us who pattern route don't hand route anyway we table route, it is far easier and allows more control.

    @@CDubbClub I think that's more of a human error, not a router.

Plunge router that can lock the depth solves the problem of bearing riding up. Right?
