Rookie Lindsey Hunter Goes 1-on-5 Against Spurs (26 Points)

Спорт

February 17, 1994 - An ineffectual Isiah Thomas (playing in his final NBA season) combined with a quadruple-double performance by San Antonio Spurs center David Robinson led Detroit Pistons head coach John Chaney to provide an extended look into rookie point guard Lindsey Hunter. With his team trailing by double digits for much of the second half, Hunter didn't hesitate to call his own number, hitting an array of floaters and pull-up jumpers en route to scoring 15 points in the fourth and 26 points in all during his team's 115-96 loss to the Spurs.
The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Hunter was drafted 10th overall by the Pistons in 1993 after coming off of a senior season at Jackson State in which he averaged 26.7 points per night. The dream was for Hunter to step up as the team's point guard of the future a Isiah Thomas' career winded down. Hunter spent seven initial seasons with the Pistons, arguably peaking in 1997 when he averaged 14.2 points for a team that won 54 games under Doug Collins.
Hunter jumped from Milwaukee to Los Angeles (Lakers) to Toronto from 2001 to 2003 before returning to the Pistons in a key reserve role, helping propel the team that drafted him to an NBA Championship during the 2003-2004 season.

Final Note: George Blaha and Kelly Tripucka called this game. If you listen closely at 3:55, you can hear Tripucka bragging about his Zubaz pants, which were featured as a part of this game's Dunham's promo.
"What do you got your pajamas for? I said, 'Hey big boy, I'm comfortable, you're not.' "

Hunter was one of the few PGs who was fast enough to deal with Allen Iverson.
