The amount of volume he does at the heavy weights is absolutely insane. When he talks about doing 315 for 12 reps, his one rep max would be in the 500 lbs+ range. He never really focused on powerlifting but if he did during his prime, he would have easily been one of the best power lifters of all time. Being superlean and the high volume training didn't allow him to max his strength.

They both trained equally as hard, and both dedicated there life to the sport. But IMO work ethic and gym intensity are two different things. Anyone stepping on stage, that has the discipline and work ethic to compete in bodybuilding? They are all following in the footsteps of these legends like Ronnie, Arnold, Dorian, and Jay. These are the guys that made the sport what it is today. But above all Ronnie worked harder, won more Olympia titles, and was more disciplined in order to achieve this. Genetics only play one factor. If anything Ronnie can look back and know he was the best. In second I have Dorian, then Jay Cutler and Arnold all had very hard work ethics and most likely were handed nothing in life
