emmmm, depends on how big the battles are, I played a 2000 vs. 10000 siege battle today and GOD... it was like 3 fps, BTW I have ipad mini 5, a12 chip, I think only the a12x and a12z may possibly be able to handle battles like that.

It only took 12 years. By virtue of existing on tablet, this makes it the greatest game the ipad has ever seen. But this is unplayable for me, I've been playing Rome modded with Europa Barbarorum for years. It leaves vanilla in the dust. And who can ignore Medieval 2's Middle Earth mod.

@NO-1-U-NO Well your wish has been granted because Feral his released a ton of consoles games for mobile since Rome. Medieval 2 is coming to mobile by them this Spring.. and I hope Empire, Napoleon TW or Shogan 2 TW follows in the future

Still one of the best games ever made ^^

this is game was ported by Feral, so having it remastered on the PC is up to the publisher/devs of the pc version.

I second on the workshop bit, but I don't think it really needs any kind of update, to be honest. Especially seeing how easy it seems to be to fuck remasters up royally.

Appreciate the thorough breakdown Lion. This is indeed impressive: Jade Empire, KOTOR, Soul Calibur, Monster Hunter, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, Final Fantasy Tactics, Ascendancy (space 4x), Planar Conquest, Twilight Struggle, XCOM EW and now Total War Rome on my iPad? And all of these are the improved versions? Man... this is wonderful.

I was a bit skeptical at first but it looks quite good!

I wonder if this game will have MFI support, though I don't think it needs it and would have added more time to the development cycle. This game along with the 'gamevice' for the 12.9 will be awesome mobile gaming this week.

Feral do good work translating console and pc games for iOS and Mac. Dotemu are like Feral but they do mostly arcades. Both are great and I rely on them a lot for getting console/pc class games as well as arcade classics on mobile.

I bought an Ipad just to play this game on the go. So fucking hyped

a let's play from this would be good, and a historical battle.

@@moh7905 Yea, it isn't too bad. I struggle on my S10 with battles, as I dont feel like my screen is large enough to effectively use the commands. But the grand map and such are all brilliant. Just like the original PC version

So far the platform transition is pretty well made and it truly stays to the original game and content. Also, it does have a turn count, which you missed a bit. At the faction panel bottom says victory conditions and has in brackets turns remaining.

Not the same as an actual turn count of the one youre on but at least you can work out from the turn countdown on the VC.

you get more FPS playing on an ipad than i do on a 970. im gonna go cry in a corner now. that being said, this looks better than i thought it'd be. very much will considering getting it

This is crazy thought about this game the other day and considered buying a pic just to play come to find out they have it for the iPad and at&t just gave me a free one! $5 later I'm playing my favorite game :)

I still hit the table whenever i forget about another army and suddenly appear out of nowhere and get outflanked tho

I wish multiplayer was possible for Rome Total War here on iPad to complete the feel.

I personally would not play the ios and possible android versions of the game. But I think it is great how total war has expanded over to mac and ios for people who don't want to or can't invest in a pc to have a chance to start playing a great game in the series.

As I have an iPad Air 1, I am very interested to know how the game performs on this device.

Third age total war needs to be available on iPad too, this proves it could be done to a certain extent, although I'm sure it would cost a lot of money as well as time as it was created by modders.

27:00 in the original PC version of Rome 1 has the view your settlement. nothing new but always nice to know

iPad 12.9 is the way to play this baby on the go and for hours on end. Now it's something I look forward to when joining a weekly 40 minute phone team meeting at work.

I could play it on my Surface Pro 4, but only in laptop mode and I don't plan on playing it tablet mode while out in the field. So just playing it on my iPad Pro 12.9 is just so much more convenient.

Hello, i’m wondering. Will the Tutorial help a new player enough to help them get through the game lol. I know, weird question. But when i look at total war games on KZread, when i watch the gameplay I literally don’t have a clue what is going on. Might be just because I haven’t played it yet, but i just wanna know before i buy the game.

Is this an 1:1 port of the PC version with changed UI (for touch screens) or a watered down version designed for mobile?

It's a 1:1 port :) same as the PC version just with reworked UI for touch controls!

On my iPad Pro it's running great very smooth, the lower on the compatibility list of iPads you go the smaller the unit size you'll experience in order for the game to try and stay as smooth as possible.

sweet, cant wait for this to launch. i just spent 13.99 on the great medival battles game, its okay but nowhere close to total war. controls seem to flow, i hope its storage isnt insane

I would love to see a Rome Total war remaster or Med 2. Just like Age of empires 2, Starcraft 1, Heroes of might and magic 3 (but not like that) and more. Put it on Steam, workshop it, maybe add a few achievements. They have said that they are not making a Med 3 and Rome 3. But a remaster?

Can I use large unit size on my iPad Air 2? Cuz I used to play on huge unit size on pc and normal unit size is too small

supports iPad Air, iPad Mini 2 and up, though the graphics will scale depending on what generation iPad you have. The one in the video is running on an iPad Pro 9.7.

Will this not run at all for iPad 4 or just slow?

Well I also played a lot and i would usually take Patavium with a mission or not. I find it a very good city to use as my northern base of operations and it was my biggest city in a few campaigns
