Hey! Feral have clarified a couple of points regarding the controls I made in this review. There were clearly a couple of menu options I missed related to some of my criticisms about the 3D battles. While this doesn't change my overall opinion, I would like to update you with those points here. 1) Zooming in while maintaining a top down view You can go to Options → Controls → Manual Camera Tilt to enable this 2) Difficulties creating formations Positioning mode can help with this. aTp & hold a unit or group to highlight them → Tap and drag the square boxes in the corners to set the desired formation and direction → Tap on tick button to confirm 3) Difficulties in selecting units that are bunched up There is a menu option enabling overhead status indicators for each unit which helps with this. This is something I did discover on my own, but only late into my playtime after the script had been finalized - I should've added it after the act. I clearly wasn't thorough enough in this case, it won't happen again. Thanks everyone :)

I bought the Rome Total war mobile version for my Ipad 3 years ago and I was amazed by how well it was/is playable on a mobile device! I will definitely be getting Medieval 2 at some point

Yeah, I think a lot of people who are older nowadays who enjoyed this game and want to play it more are often too busy for long sit down sessions at the PC. I tend to believe that's the target demographic. But I dunno, I personally have always wanted the Rome 1 port and now this one just because I think they're fascinating ports

The way they did it is difficult and feels more limited than Rome total war

I only ever played 2 total war games growing up. Rome and Napoleon. I never got the chance to play Medieval 2 and always wanted to. The fact they made it available for mobile makes me very happy! But I do agree that the unit maneuvering doesn’t feel as smooth as Rome and I’m playing on a 2018 12.9in iPad Pro. Hopefully they’ll fix that in a patch

I remember playing this wayback on pc when i was on HIGHSCHOOL, my minimum playtime is 4hrs im addicted to this! Now im 30 i dont use pc anymore and always wondering if totalwar medieval 2 shall be releasedmon mobile, now is my time to play again! Its an easy purchase for me!

You know I don't hate it. Feral did this before for Rome Total War and I'm impressed they managed to do the same for medieval 2. Hopefully it'll be worth the time investment.

I asked for the game this was my first experience with total war games and feral did a great job with the port and the control do take getting used to played the Rome port for some time now but since they added the ability to use keyboard and mouse on iPad that is what I use now it’s much easier to control your units plus it’s better than being tied to an expensive pc that will be outdated in a short amount of time I hope they continues to bring us more total war titles perhaps empire might be next that would be awesome

does it have online play?

I share some of your criticisms, it's a bit awkward playing on my phone. Some of the ui changes are very welcome though. It's great for sitting on the tube, with my gf while she watches something. It makes me want a bigger screen and I'm excited for the steam deck...

I think there’s a weird free total war title also set in the medieval period

The main reason I like Ferel Interactive porting these games is I played these as a kid growing up I'm now an adult and have children of my own my oldest son loves company of heros now which is exciting for me I hope multi-player comes out on mobile so him and I can play together.

You're a little younger than I am. People that have full time jobs, kids, families, but still gamers and game when they can AND remember the great times in this strategy era are the ones that wanted this game. I don't like the newer post-shogun format - this fills the gap we needed. THAT's who they marketing to....also take it from someone who is actually against "mobile gaming."

Written April 7, 2022 While not as modern, TW: Medieval 2 is held the “greatest Total War” in the series as a 2006 PC exclusive game It’s likely mobile can play Empire, Napoleon and Shogun 2 now as all are PS3 era PC TWs, and we have phones that have 4-6GB ram with 6 core CPU since 2018 Now that iPadOS 15 raised the ram limit from 5-12GB allowing Divinity 2(18gb)and Alien Isolation with full PS4 graphics, we also have larger storage data limits beyond 18gb to get those TW games fully on mobile. Heck, the M1 iPads have 8ram, Cpu and GPU which for a game like D:OS2 is easily playable at 60FPS, and as of this posted date- is the only game to require 4GB ram..especially with the M1 16GB ram version that could probably play Warhammer 1 as all use TW3 engine. Let’s see if Feral keeps up the TW porting trend as we have 5-6 years, beyond improvements to current mobile hardware, b4 the ps6 debuts in 2027-2028 to get those games on mobile Nice review Zade Ps. I think using console generations as a reference for PC games can be deceiving. Specially for Shogun 2. I don't see a PS3 with its 2006 hardware running that.

@Igor I guess you’re right. A much nicer comparison is that Company of heroes, Civilization 6, Divinity 2 and TitianQuest are all are on mobile as 2006 and 2017 full PC games

The problem with smartphones and tablets as gaming platforms seem to be heat dispersion. Unlike their dedicated counterparts, they lack fans, vents, and so on. I’ve read good things about aftermarket heatskinks and coolers that you can attach to the back of the phone, but unfortunately they all seem to require an external power supply.

Gonna a get a keyboard and mouse for this. iPad really is proving to be a great multi media device on the go for gaming and productivity without spending stupid amounts on a macbook or gaming laptop.

How good this game really is? Can it becomes benchmark for future rts games?

The battle graphics on ipad air is a little bit of a mess, to the point that it affect heavily on the enjoyment of the game

I've been a Total War fan since a kid. Feral has absolutely crushed it. I am amazed at how well the game plays, functions, operates and executes. I must say this review was poorly conducted since he was wrong about A LOT of points, especially the 3D battles. At least he clarified his mistake in the comments. When reviewing a game that must've been absolutely straining for the developers to transition to mobile, please take the time to go through the game THOROUGHLY before reviewing it. It's just not fair

I tried Rome 2. I know the control's lost me. But honestly I can see me playing amd enjoying Crusaders King 3 mobile.

I'm really enjoying it. Like Rome, it took a little while to get used to the controls, but after some practice, it's a really fun way to play the game. Got myself into a spot of bother with two very powerful Timurid armies invading my territories in Acre and Jerusalem but I shall endure.

I was asking for this! Fortnite? CoD Mobile? Apex? Ugh! This is the first mobile game I was willing to pay more than a few bucks for and it's the first one I really enjoy (I have played mobile games on other people's devices, it's not the first "bigger" game I tested). I love the good old Total War games for PC and this game brings one of my favorites to another format and that exceptionally well.

I asked for this game. As someone who doesn’t want to spend thousands of dollars on a gaming PC that’s outdated in a couple years, this is the perfect fit. I also don’t want to be tied to a desktop, I can play this game wherever! I also prefer the controls on touch screen too as I’ve played several Rome Total War campaigns and Barbarian invasion campaigns. The best thing is there is no lag or bugs like I always dealt with on my gaming laptop before it fried. I’m really hoping they release kingdoms too but they haven’t promised anything. These classic strategy games are the best!

I don't want to spent thousands of dollars on a mobile that's outdated in a couple of years. I also don't want to be tied to my mobile, even more than I am already. So I play MTW 2 on my old PC which works fine and has a mouse.

It sucks it's not on Oppo A72 colourOS android 11.1

I already played Total War Alexander in Mobile and it's kinda not comfortable at first but once you get used to it, its gonna be kinda enjoyable.
