When the Romans left, various German-speaking tribes invaded. One of these were the Franks (name still exists in Frankfurt). Their dialect influenced the language already spoken particularly in the North. In the South the version of French spoken was Provencal which I think was closer to Latin. @@jmundi2002 Yes, the Gallo-Romans spoke a kind of modified Latin but were conquered by Germanic tribes called the Franks. Frankish was for a time a prestige language. People pronounced the old Latin words in a new Germanic way. Pura (pure, clean) was pronounced "POO-ra" in the Latin way before, but under Germanic influence was now pure ("pür") and now just means pure. Germanic sounds entered the language because of sound-switches like this! The sounds spelled in French oe, eu and u (and in Germanic tongues ö, ø and ü) entered the language. There are also nasal vowel-sounds in French too, 4 of them, spelled (an/en, in, on, and un) where the n is not actually pronounced but indicates you should nasalize a vowel (pronounce with a closed-off nasal passage in the back of your throat with the back of your tongue). Portuguese has some nasal vowels too.

    As a Mexican (Spanish speaker) 🇲🇽, here is what I understood of the other romance languages on this video. My mother tongue is Spanish and I also speak Portuguese. I wanna learn French and Catalan! 🇮🇹 Italian/Italiano 🇮🇹: The north (of Italy) will be largely sunny. Occasional afternoon showers are not entirely ruled out in the alpine areas of Veneto and in the Piedmontese highlands. Clear or slightly cloudy sky. In the center of the country it will be densely cloudy in the Tyrrhenian strip and in Sardinia, where, in particular, temporary periods of sunshine are not ruled out. Widely sunny weather in the remaining sectors. In the south it will be good weather in all our regions. TRASLATION: As the day progresses, the sky will become much clearer, with temperatures still above 30 degrees, especially in the southern part of the country. In Asturias, the morning will also be marked by clouds, some showers and much lower temperatures; as you can see, some exceeding 20 °. Of course, during the afternoon, the rainfall will subside and be more and more occasional, but the sky will remain completely cloudy. There will be more intense and stormy showers in areas of the peninsular southeast. Undoubtedly there will be instability and there the thermal drop will be noticeable. As we told you, the situation for the following days will still be marked by the intense heat in much of Spain and also by the storms that will begin to affect the east of the peninsula. Nothing more. Enjoy the night! 🇷🇴 Romanian/Română 🇷🇴 Degrees Celsius, center, north, Moldova, precipitation, temperatures, especially in the north, zones, precipitation, moment. (That's all I understood, sorry 😅). 🇦🇩 Catalan/Català 🇦🇩: Let's start in the morning: there will be sunshine and periods of cloudiness in certain parts of the north and the extreme south; temperatures will increase. At noon the temperature will drop again and instability will decrease, the sky will clear up in a more punctual and scattered way, temperatures will increase a little more and will continue that same trend in the coming days. There will be some showers in the afternoon in the interior of the Valencian Country and there will also be some showers in the Balearic Islands; The weather in the Balearic Islands will also stabilize, which will cause the temperature to rise. This would be the weather trend today and the next few days. It will be a little more stable weather, with rising temperatures, starting Thursday and Friday. TRANSLATION: (This) is the so-called South Atlantic convergence zone. In several cities between São Paulo and Amazonas, the volume of rain tomorrow may exceed 50 mm, the equivalent of an average of 10 days; closed weather all day from eastern Paraná to Rio de Janeiro. Sunny day in the southern, eastern and northern light areas (on the map). Minimum of 14° in Porto Alegre and 17° in São Paulo; maximum of 27° in Brasília and 33° in Manaus. Until the beginning of next week, it will rain heavily with thunderstorms in Goiânia; in Rio and São Paulo there will be rain and low temperatures; in Natal there is a open weather forecast. 🇲🇫 French/Français 🇲🇫: On Saturday it will be cloudy and there will be a very considerable disturbance in the Mediterranean that will have an impact on the southeast. There will be a lot of stability in the center, contrasting with the Mediterranean area or the north. On Sunday there will be a lot of stability in the Pyrenees and the eastern border, with snow on the relief. There will be a disturbance in the northwest of the country, which will affect the weather in the north of France, where we will have rain.

Brazilian Portuguese sounds like slower Spanish and more easy to catch words so I will put it as somewhat decent. French actually sounds decent and I can actually catch words at a better rate. Italian sounds too exaggerative and as a result a bit annoying yet less annoying than Spanish. Catalan sounds too hyper. Well the only Romance languages I actually like happens to be French and Brazilian Portuguese(I did not hear European Portuguese in terms of how it actually sounds in normal conversations so I am not placing my judgement on it.) .

    It is not a real perception as a degree of understanding between speakers of Romance languages. The more often you hear a language (possibly of international circulation) and you are used to it, the better it seems to you to understand it. The Romanian language, for example, is not as well known and publicized as the others, which is why some speakers of Romance languages find it a little harder to understand. But if it were a first audition for all languages, the situation and the degree of understanding would be completely different.

You see, there are 4 different latins: -ancient latin -midage latin -modern school latin -modern church latin I personally think, the modern church latin (lingua latina ecclesiastica) would be best because you can speak it easyly and fast (that's why I'm learning that type of latin).

E.g.: classical: DEVS ID VVLT. mid age: Devs lo vvlt. The modern school latin is like classical latin but it has an other orthography: E.g.: classical: MEA AMICA PVLKRA EST. school: Mea amica pulchra est. • @jackthompsonify

    @jackthompsonify

    Even though this is a very specific feeling, what you said is actually pretty accurate and I think I can probably explain why... So since Romanian developed separately from all the other Romance languages, a LOT of words that came from Latin ended up having completely different meanings. Like for example the word "heart", instead of being something like coeur/cuore/corazon, it became "inima" in Romanian because it didn't come from the Latin *cor* , but from the Latin *anima* which means "soul". Or like "world", which instead of being something like monde/mundo/mondo, it became "lume" because it came from the Latin word for "light". So one of the main reasons it sounds like a dreamlike Spanish that you can't understand is because you're hearing Latin words which sound like Spanish words, but at the same time, they're not making sense because they're in a sort of weird nonsensical order. Instead of hearing something like "this is the heart of the world" you hear something like "this is the soul of the light" which makes no sense.

It's just so sad that most people forget that Sardinia exists.

  • @annarr5543

    @annarr5543

    Giulia Vidal tomasi 1- Un pais, un estado y una nacion son tres conceptos diferentes: un estado se establece dentro de unos limites geograficos y esta conformado por instituciones politicas; un pais es casi lo mismo que un estado, con la diferencia que un pais tiene en cuenta la historia del territorio que lo forma, al contrario que el estado; y una nacion es la idea de pueblo, conjunto historico, cultural... Sí, es verdad, catalan es un gentilicio, al igual que lo es español. Ademas, si solo somos una comunidad autonoma, creeme, no es porque queramos 2- La diferencia entre italia y Cataluña y españa es que en italia pudieron decidir unirse y formar un solo pais, pero en Cataluña llevamos años pidiendo la independencia y como tu muy bien has dicho cataluña sigue siendo una comunidad autonoma 3- A lo mejor es porque nunca me he molestado en saberme todos los articulos de la constitucion (muy probablemente), pero podrias decirme qual de ellos dice que no podemos votar que queremos hacer con nuestra nacion? 4- Que solo tu quieras que tu ciudad fuera un estado independiente no serviria de nada, estoy de acuerdo en eso. Y que solo haya la voluntad de formar nuestro propio estado tampoco serviria de nada, en eso tambien estoy de acuerdo. Pero no es el caso, la voluntad no es lo unico que hay, tambien hay hechos: tu tienes idea de la de gente que coge un autobus des de su pueblo cada onze de septiembre para ir a barcelona en los actos de la diada de cataluña? O cuanta gente resistio contra la policia hace solo unos meses? O como aguanto la lengua catalana durante siglos hasta que finalmente se proclamo co-oficial? Puedes decir que cataluña forma parte del territorio de españa y al decirlo tendras razon; pero no puedes decir que cataluña no es una nacion, si no que es solo una parte de españa, ahi es donde te equivocas
