Rolling Dumbbell Extensions for BIGGER Triceps

Спорт

Want bigger arms and a bigger bench press? Try the rolling triceps dumbbell extension - and grow your triceps, arms, and your bench press lockout. This offers a nice alternative if lying triceps extensions cause you elbow or shoulder pain.
The rolling dumbbell extension works both the short head and long head of the triceps muscles, which helps meet our three criteria for strength. Since we're using more muscle mass with this variation, compared to a skullcrusher, we can use more weight.
If you want big, thick triceps that will help increase your bench press and overhead press, give this exercise a try!

    This exercise done in this way, really exposes how painfully weak my triceps are. I can only do 2 reps with 40 lbs dumbells… This must explain why my flat presses are so weak…I wonder..

    Gotta try these today, since I can't do barbell skullcrushers/french press. It just rips my elbows in a bad way, no matter how much I warm up or play with the technique.

    That is a great exercise, and you've explained it very well. I also like Rippetoe's instructions; he says that to perform it correctly you have to envision that you're _throwing_ the weight when performing the extension.

  • @BarbellLogic

    @BarbellLogic

    Hmm, might take them conservative the first time, but soreness tends to happen when you introduce new movements, especially with higher volume. Thanks for commenting.

  • @CaptJackAubreyOfTheRoyalNavy

    @CaptJackAubreyOfTheRoyalNavy

    @@BarbellLogic Thanks for the reply. No complaints here about the DOMS. I know they're not necessarily "good," or a sign of progress, but they do let you know you hit the target muscle. And these definitely did that. Yeah, I think I did take it pretty conservative the first time. Only 20 lb dumbbells for about 3x10. But I haven't done any triceps isolation exercises in a long time; I've just been doing compounds for quite a while. But I wanted to add in a triceps isolation exercise to my routine, which is how I ended up here. I also went pretty slow on the eccentric, which probably contributed a lot to the DOMS.

    Wow, was looking for a replacement for the lying tricep extension with a barbell as I hit my head pretty hard with the bar and thought dumbells would be terrible as they would have too much side to side motion. This makes a ton of sense! Any advice on how to overload? My gym has only 5lb increments of dumbells. I was thinking I could work from 3x5 to 3x10 and then increase the weight

  • @ReynoldsStrong1
