    If you are having tendon trouble in your elbow (happens eventually when you go heavier), do a set of bicep curls (not super heavy) in between sets of these. I had an old childhood injury which was flaring up a lot and when I put some bicep curls, that seems to "reseat" the problem tendon and the pain has gone away completely. LOVE this exercise!

    This is by far one of the best things Mark ever gave me right here. After watching this simple video I went and started doing these and within weeks I went from 10s on each side of an ez curl bar to now 35s for I think 14 reps (about to increase weight again). It has put more meat on the back of my arm than anything I've ever done before in my life and is going to be a staple of my arm training. Not sure why he says you need a spotter. If you can bring heavy dumbbells back with your legs onto a flat bench you can even more easily do it with a bar.

  • @jd0879

    @jd0879

    2 жыл бұрын

    On his forum he specifically said at 155 lbs you’ll need a spotter. 35’s depending on the ez curl bar can be anywhere from 85-95 lbs so you’re still considering to be lifting too light of weights to need a spotter

  • @HAL-dm1eh

    @HAL-dm1eh

    @@jd0879 So people don't need a spotter for that weight with dumbbells but they do with an even easier to maneuver ez curl bar. Makes sense.🤔

    @Bag Stallion I add weight while it's on the bench, then pick it up and rest it on my thighs before rocking back into the starting position. I don't quite exhaust myself with the extensions themselves, but almost, then I move the bar to do narrow grip bench press. Afterwards I just rock back up into a seated position and set the bar back on the bench.

    I actually used to do my skull crushers this way before I knew that it was a named exercise. I always found that going lower than the head allowed for a greater stretch in the triceps, and i noticed it softened the bottom end of the movement so my elbows didn't hurt as much. I used a lot more control on the eccentric portion though, otherwise my elbows were barking at me afterwards.

    I may have tried this one time and I believe there was something in my shoulder or elbow that just wanted to murder me. Thankfully I'm doing heavy weighted dips so I'm not missing out on tricep gains. But I will give it a try later on once my dip becomes too heavy to manage safely with a dip belt, or when I stop linear progression.

    I applied this to some light cable tricep extension, i believe mark demonstrates this in an older video. i had to work with it cause at first i was doing a pulldown, locking my elbows to my side then doing a tricep press. This didn't seem to get it. When i activated elbow extension at the same moment i activated shoulder extension i instantly felt firmness and tension in the part of the long head that crosses the head of the humerus and attaches to the scapula. I always thought that this was using the lats to cheat the tricep work. I was wrong. I don't have a problem being wrong. I just fucking hate how often Rippetoe is dead on balls correct because he's an insufferable ass. Its ok, I'll gladly use Mark's knowledge to achieve my goal of letting Mark know who's the actual pussy. You are Mark, that's why you're pink.

It is a great excercise though I did it twice weekly for months until the tendonitis started effecting my b and oh presses.

  • @LeChristEstRoi

    I have the same issue, my elbows tendons get easily irritated by this exercise. Maybe I'm just getting old...I still do it but infrequently. For instance, whenever I feel the need to deload the bench press I do a short cycle of triceps extensions for 2 or 3 sessions in a row...after that I resume my bench training and stop doing triceps extensions (I replace it by close grip bench press and some dips)
