Rip, stick to lifting. You might be correct about nuclear in the American context, but there's like 100+ other countries out there. Take Australia, the CSIRO (government scientific research agency) has determined that nuclear enegy is wayyyy more expensive and less practical than other renewable alternatives *for Australia*. Just reached the part where you call windfarm advocates "criminals". I don't like business people either, but calling them criminals? Really?

I triple check all my loads. I was at the meet where they misloaded Ed Coan an extra 70 pounds on the squat and he got pinned. I think it was the next meet where he blew off his patellar tendon. I always felt that misload caused it

I was once sitting on a bench resting between sets and my eyes wandered around the gym. I spotted a guy getting ready to do a squat and noticed he had at least one more 45-plate one one side than the other. I ran over and got his attention just as he was about to unrack. I pointed to his plates and I will never forget the look of horror that appeared in his eyes.

It will happen eventually. I workout in my garage, and I remember a time when I squatted 225 x 5 as a warm up set, then after I loaded another plate, I was interrupted by my sweet little daughter coming outside. After that conversation, I went to squat it and thought WHAT THE ****. I had 3 plates on one side and 2 on the other. Thankfully, I was able to set it down without issue. This is why it's so important to do all these movements inside a rack with the safeties set appropriately - because these things happen.

I’m going to be honest. I looked worse heavier. I got down to 173 from 220 during covid. Gyms opened up, followed Rip’s philosophy and got to 240. I looked awful and now I’m down to 210 trying to get to 190.

Here's an example how I feel about bodybuilding Vs strength. I recently started paying attention to my form with the starting strength videos I just tried the deadlift. I'm 54 years old and I've just broken my personal best on the deadlift. In my experience don't do exercises like shrugs for your traps do deadlifts properly and you will exercise your traps effectively. Compound movements for strength will make you stronger and bigger...most bodybuilding moves will shape your muscles not make them big
