    📢📢📢 🔊*TIP* wearing a certified safety helmet and knee pads would definitely help you get over the fear of falling .... I feel like "getting over the fear of falling" is a very true statement. This would help you go full on and try and practice things with confidence rather than being scared and insecure in the moves you are trying to execute. I personally didn't want to wear a helmet because i don't like the aesthetic if them but i just ordered one today because i know safety is more important than how i look and i want to be able to learn to my full potential and not have fear if falling and potentially getting a concussion or dying from a fall 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 hope whoever reads this takes my advice and hope that it helps you in your skating journey :)

    I just skated at a tennis court for the first time yesterday but out of fear of being watched and falling I didn't do too much. 😫 Big bummer. I would love to have a friend to skate with! Also what helps me to transition from back to front is to turn my head in the direction I want to go first, then my shoulder, hip, then my foot. Dirty Deb has a great video on it. 🛼👌🏽

    Yeah I haven't done much skating but what I've gathered from a lot of searching is that unless skates are $100 or more they're going to be super cheap and fall apart. If you want something that's going to last a while you probably need to spend around $150 from a reputable brand.

    yes and no. A large amount of the community are people with the money to spend on high end gear, when you're used to that anything less feels like crap of course. My skates I've had for years, they're about 60 quid and haven't failed me at all except the time I tore one of the laces. If you know what to look for you can go under 100. Imo the most important stuff is what comes underneath the boot. You want the trucks to be metal 100%, the plates too if you can. Bearing around ABEC 5 and some decent wheels. However if you can tick all the boxes except the wheel, you can buy a proper set and usually still spend less than if you got one of the high end brands. Not to mention the community that says you must spend 150+ Can never actually agree on which of those expensive brands to trust

    With the wheels please just check all of the tightness on your skates. If you hear metal noises when you shake then 99% chance something is looser than it should be. Every-time you use them they will loosen a little bit. So checking every-time before you go is a good way to stay on top!

    Sooo your trucks should not just fly off like that. Those skates don’t seem safe to use. Unfortunately, especially with the resurgence of roller skating, there are companies making shitty skates just to make a buck. People can get really hurt. The single wheel coming off could’ve just been a loose nut, but also could point to the quality and safety of the skates. Make sure you have a skate tool to check everything before you skate. In general, trucks, wheels, toe stops should not be getting so loose as to fall off after each ride. Bad skates! Best to stick with solid brands like Moxi, Chaya, Sure-Grip, Moonlight, Riedell…they all offer beginner skates that are very good quality. Hope this helps! Happy skating🛼🛼🛼✨✨✨

  • @marlenef777

    @marlenef777

    2 жыл бұрын

    Maybe I should specify more about the loose nut and quality. The bearings could be sitting in the wheel improperly which would cause the wheel to take up too much space on the axle and for it to wobble around more, causing the nut to loosen up. The axles on the truck could also be too short for the wheels that are on there and that would cause the same problem. For now, if you are going to continue to use these skates, get that skate tool, make sure those bearings are snapped in evenly and tightly. Then, you can take the nuts and flip them around and screw them on backwards. It’s an old trick that keeps them on better.

    There's a problem where you think that backwards roller skating is super easy. Like, yes, backwards skating, literally just moving backwards, is a bit of hip wiggling and bubbles, right. But to have the comfort and sense of backwards skating to integrate it into other moves like it's normal takes a lot more practice than you doing it a few times. You haven't even really yet mastered Backwards Stroking as of the last video I think? You do a lot more forward movement in normal life, and a lot more forward skating in general than you do backwards. I can see you aren't really like solidly used to backwards skating yet and that's really the core of why neither the transitions nor the strutting really worked for you. I know a lot of the motivation advice you get is just do it. But the more realistic thing to keep in mind as well is that a lot of the things you're trying to do is hard, takes lots of practice, and even when you technically know how to do them, takes lots more repetition to get mastered. I just don't want a lot of newbies to come to your video and feel like backwards skating in perfect, comfortable form should come this easily to them. Trust yourself that you are doing so much--so much!! And the progress you're making right now is only part of the mastery process.

    hi skatie.love your video style nice soothing voice .I recently started outdoor roller skating after 45 years later it was 1975 school discos.i had own skates then.But obviously 60 now so bit creaky.im a window cleaner 40 years now son found its best to skate when I haven't worked that day as ankles ache .Been watching dirty Debbie use lady been practising my crossovers.found a outdoor netball basketball court near me.it made me feel more confident about crossovers.i did used to skate backwards etc years ago.Now I bought skates off ebay 2nd hand.seller said they quite fast skates.they are78a 62mm supreme aerobic says on wheels.i have tightened wheels up bit to slow down bit.i can stop quick with spin round turn ok.im nervous about stopping with toe stop maybe t stop better haven't tried that but I realised crossover turn can slow you if you have room.one problem is my wheels seem to catch now and again and not sure if its me or skates .dont think its me so I want to get bit of speed going along and I get this wobble now and again which jolts me.im wondering is it wheels or bearings.any advice would be greatly appreciated skatie.imoff to penzance in 2 weeks so trying get practice in. I saw a lady mature I think skating up down by sea.great place to skate..,also we have nice place near us north Wales llandudno it has wide promenade by sea but the surface there was like chipping in surface which is rough.a shame don't know if different wheels help there.i found pavements or roads better.thanks.steve Show less

    Damn the unscrewing is embarassing, there is a way to avoid that on assembly but heh i'll be honnest those are pretty cheap skates (no pun intended) so yeah, no huge care given to assembly, it's just put together and off you go ! :D I worked in an "urban mobility shop" (skateboards, rollers, bicycles, ...) and everything was double checked, when we sold an item we would check every screw to make sure it was secure enough. But even so, it's still possible that vibrations would work a screw off, i guess ? Esp with cheap screws ?

    best tip for any skater.... dont fight falling over, if your gonna go, try to land it on your terms. yeh i get falling is never "on your term" but the more you fight it the worst damage your gonna do.landing on your ass is better then landing on your face

    Im a little suspicious that the skates falling apart was for the video, for things to be so loose that they come apart, its impossible not not notice something is very wrong with your skate.
