A quick tip for when you're going off a curb is to put a little pressure on your back foot whenever you are rolling off so your board stays level in the air for when you land it will feel more comfortable

I love these videos! You actually inspired me to buy a skateboard and try to learn again. When I was a kid I was obsessed the idea of skateboarding and tried it. Then coming to the conclusion it was brutal and ended up quitting after my first big fall (happend during a shuvit too). It always stayed in the back of my mind though, but I was too scared to try again and being a complete beginner at skateboarding at the age of 26 sounded pretty daunting. Seeing you being willing to try and starting completely fresh at something has been so cool to see and was the final push that I needed to try again aswell! Thank you and I can't wait to keep seeing your progress.

Nice! Im at the similar level, you got this, best part of skateboarding ahead! When it comes to understanding moving shvits what helped me a lot is to learn them fakie first, easier to rotate and land. You can get speed against a ramp and on return you will be in fakie position and can try shovit. If its ouside skatepark where i learnt it you gotta start in switch and shift the lefs to the nose which will get you into riding fakie.

to help with you ollies try thinking about doing a judo kick after you pop the board into the air. this should help make more contact with the nose of the board, lifting the board and leveling it. ollies are easier to do while moving because the pop is dragged behind due to friction so you have to pull the board forward by doing this. when stationary try popping the board slightly in the opposite direction of the kicking motion so the board presses harder into your front foot during take-off. best of luck out there champ =D

You can practice nollie shuvits while rolling to help build some muscle memory. It's a similar motion, but pivoting off the nose helps you cheat the rotation a little bit. Helped me a lot when I was learning. Add in a little pop once you're comfortable.

Some tips: • manuals, esp. when moving: make sure your feet are 90° to the sides of the board. heel on back side edge, toes on frontside edge. Have your back foot in the "pocket" - thats the spot behind the rear truck where the deck tail starts to rise / kink. this should also minimize the drag of the tail if you fail. your deck will not get razor tail as fast since ther is less direct force on the tip of your tail. your body weight is over the rear truck, you balance with your hip, not your upper body. this should give you way more stability. from what i have seen you should be able to manual for a long time since you have good body control. • drop down curbs: same foot placement. put light pressure on the pocket to lift you front trucks resulting in all 4 wheels touching the lower level at the same time. you dont need to manual down the curb, its more like a quick lift. the more practice you have with this the more professional it will look. this eliminates the chances of lock-ups on small cracks. lift up the nose, make yourself light (kinda like a little jump, bit not really) and land with all 4 wheels at the same time. • running start: just like your cavemans, connect your front foot to the board as it leaves your hand. your foot secures the board on the ground. right now, any imperfections in the ground will make the board go a different way than you expect, that may result in injurys. i love the content. good skating, very good editing.

I'm sure Ricky mentioned it, but in case he didn't, you should have the feeling of curling your toes over the edge of the board when you do your shuv it. I also tend to have my weight slightly over my front foot. Your ollies are well on their way. Definitely work on getting your back leg up, like pull it up to your chest. Also, give it a second before you level it out. It's more like a fraction of a second, but give the board time to reach it's height. I count in my head 1, 2, land. A 5 second manual is pretty good. you can cover a pretty big distance in 5 seconds. Plus, manuals are actually easier to do while moving. It's so awesome to see someone try out skating and have it really take hold. Keep it up. It's so great to watch. I subbed for the skating content!!!!! Also, I second the No Comply 180 comment. You could totally learn a No Comply. They are so fun and there are so many variations.

I recommend when you do ollies try standing on you board backwards, if that makes sense. Pop on the head of your board instead of your tail, because your tail looks like its so worn down that it has no more pop. Your ollies will be much higher. I have to do the same when I don't change me board for a while. Good luck on your skate journey 👍

Big love to beginner British skaters 💯💯😎😎 btw I find when doing caveman's if you sorta throw the board lightly toward your front foot instead of a normal drop down, you will be able to catch it in the air much easier so you can start working on getting some more height to them

I learned ollies and kickflips in the basement. Just stand next to a washing machine or a table or anything waist high. push yourself up using the table when you jump and get the timing down with your feet. when you start popping thigh-high ollies and learn how to catch the kickflip with your feet, then go outside and try it on flatgound then rolling.

@@HeglaKZread there's some really cool female/marginalised genders skate groups in UK that run skate nights at some of the indoor parks. There might be some in you're area if you're near a bigger city, they're super chill to go to :)

If skating's already your favourite activity it's worth noting it gets more and more enjoyable the better you get. Like I think getting to the point where I could comfortably ollie high and kickflip and shit and started to just learn whatever random new tricks took my fancy was the most fun time in skating for me. The earlier stages are the hard part you have to commit through to get to the sheer joy of just vibing and having infinite potential to go/do where/whatever you want.

Just popped over from @rickyglaser channel and just wanted to share some love! Congrats on the shuv! I started skating again last February and have landed a few ollies off of ledges, some FS shuvs, and am getting so close to kickflips and heelflips but BS shuvs have alluded me....your progress is very motivating and I'm going to try to get one in my next seshhhhh

Always fun to watch the progress you make. But........ remember way back when you were quad skating, you promised us that you would post a video on how to skate backwards. Well, I'm at that point now and your help would be greatly appreciated 👍

Hey! I also do the nose pickup. One thing I do, that might help, is walking forward after you pop the board. For me it has helped and I think it looks cooler. I hope this helps.

A quick tip for getting off curbs. Try doing a little manual when you get to the edge of the curb so your board is level. Just have a little speed going in and you can quickly hop down curbs really easily.

Set up a broom or something small and light on top of some books and practice a hippy jump. Then you can practice it without worrying about hitting the thing you're jumping over cause itll just be kicked aside. Congrats on shuvs and ollies! I just kinda skipped shuvs cause I wanted heelflips but Im about to go practice shuvs now youve inspired me
