Roland TR-8S Guide / How to create a Tech House track in 30 min!

Музыка

The Roland TR-8S Guide. This time I show how to create a Tech House track in 30 min from scratch! I use only the stock sounds of the Roland TR-8S. Also all my Instruments/tracks and all variations. I tried to go through quickly to keep the video short. There is definitely more to tweak but this will take longer.
Hopefully, you get an idea of how to create a track from scratch simple and quick.
When you have any ideas or notes please leave a comment!
This is video no. 43 in my TR-8S tutorial series. Please check out my latest videos. I hope you find the videos helpful.
Thanks for your support :)

    The TR-8S is one the most versatile instruments out there. I have mine along with a MC-707 linked up to my old MX-1 mixer. Also have an aged Roland keyboard that I love to produce some great retro house sounds. TR-8S though, you can't go wrong. One of the best that Roland has ever done.

    Not sure if the question is still relevant to you after 5 months, but you can chain variations to make a longer pattern. Press and hold variation A, then tap variation B: the machine will then play the two patterns one after the other.

    Maybe this is a silly question... but why did you turn the kick attack to around 100? One thing I am always unsure about is how much attack to give my kick. If you wanted to maximize the "punch", wouldn't you want to turn the attack all the way down? Don't get me wrong, I like the way it sounds where you have set it. I would just like to know how musicians/producers choose their kick attack times. Like, what is it that you are trying to achieve? Thank you, and great video!

  • @choppedstrandaudio4561

    @choppedstrandaudio4561

    11 ай бұрын

    Hi, there are no silly questions and thank you you for your feedback. I turned the attack to 100 because I think that is the level where my kick sounds great. I would say it depends on the kick you are using and the song etc. I'm trying to achieve a more punchy and aggressive sound with the attack set to 100 which is a slow attack.

    Why is this drum machine incapable of playing triplets?

  • @choppedstrandaudio4561

    @choppedstrandaudio4561

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey mate, sorry for the late reply. The TR-8S is capable of playing triplets. The problem is the adjusting the time for the triplet pattern length with other PTNs. For example: You could set a PTN to a length of 12 steps. Choose steps 1,4,7. BUT than we need to adjust the time. The time for a cycle through the 12th step PTN needs to be the same with our normal 16th step PTNs and I'm not sure so far how to do this. Possible impossible.

  • @snedward_owden

    @snedward_owden

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@WalterHemingway You can change to 12 (or any number of steps from 1-16) like this: 1. Select the Track (Instrument) where you want to change the amount of steps 2. Push the "Last" button on the far left. 3. The Steps will all illuminate green. Now you can choose the last step of the sequence for that specific track. If you pick step 12 as your last step, the sequencer on that track will jump back to step 1 after step 12. 4. Beautiful tool to create polyrhythms, as the other tracks will still cycle through all 16 steps.

    Thank you for your positive feedback. I would say yes that is possible. You have to use a DAW for that. I also depends on you track BPMs. The TR-8S has 16 pattern with 8 variations in it. You could chain the pattern together or record some into your DAW and make a song. You can export the song in wav format and send it of for mastering.
