11:20 About the chains, I would theorise that it would be a sort of alarm system to let the "slasher" or "killer" person know if someone is sneaking around their place if they heard them move/jingle, without it being an obvious sign to people outside or even the person going through them to know an "alarm" of that sort was even triggered? Unlike an traditional alarms that would attract alot of attention

The actual gameplay was very simple, but the atmosphere was absolutely fantastic!!! I agree, this one got the tone completely spot-on. I was on the edge of my seat big time expecting for a scary old man to be Blaire Witch-ing it in the corner the whole time

I think that the game is about an old man that who served Franco (the last Spanish dictator, there's a portrait of him in the game). In Spain, the fascist are called "fachas", normally people who believed in Franco's dictatorship. On the TV you can see "El valle de los caídos", place were Franco was buried. All the religious things is because at least Franco was very religious or it's just that in old houses there's a lots of religious portraits. Maybe the man becomes like this because of the medication or his illness.

The red ones arent the nacionalists, are the other ones (republicans, comunists, socialists, etc.) and thats why nacionlists called them because of their flag colors. Nacionalists are usually recognized with grey uniform colors (like polices man in those years).

It's really cool to see a Spanish videogame that tells a little about the country! The horror element wasn't that good, but the athmospere was amazing! "The Generalissimo" refers to Franco, which was a general of the Nationalist forces and dictator. "Rojo" (or Red) it's what the nationalists named the republicans, who were their enemies (here in Spain the republicans are the left party). And last and most important point...Manly, you have to try ColaCao, It's delicious!!

The progression and level design is on point, that's a very authentic looking apartment. The way certain key elements and clues are subtly revealed to you and left there for you to find is also great. Definitely something that a lot of indie games don't really do at all. The only disappointing part was the actual horror elements, there weren't really that many and that final chase sequence wasn't really scary at all. The scariest part was the anticipation and suspense, the fact that you're in a place where you don't belong and someone may still be living here, should've played into that heavily during the entire experience but it was mostly walking around finding stuff and reading notes until the end.

  • @theironcrown7766

Regarding the note about the Generalissimo being taken out of the Valley, Francisco Franco was buried in the Valley of the Fallen, a vast gravesite for slain soldiers buried in the Spanish Civil War. The site itself was constructed with a considerable use of forced labour from surrendered Republicans/Anarchists/Communists. Keep in mind, they either agreed to work or face potential execution. The Spanish government recently dug up Franco's body to be reburied elsewhere, which caused some controversy in Spain at the time. It should be noted that Franco himself did not want to be buried there while he was alive, but his supporters insisted he be placed there. He is now, to my knowledge, reinterred with his wife. The music played on the piano is the first four notes of Cara al Sol, or "Facing the Sun", which was the anthem of the Falange, led before the war by José Antonio Primo de Rivera, a member of the Spanish nobility, political theoretician, and son of a previous Spanish dictator. It should be noted that the Falange, along with the Carlists, who supported a specific Branch of the Borbon family to become monarch, were both co-opted by Franco and forced into a unitary government, which was overwhelmingly conservative and authoritarian. The game has a lot of interesting little details in it, but here is some context for a few of them.

Oh, the references, the references. The TV on the bedroom is playing NODO, which was the only TV channel back in the regime. The other TV was playing something from Valle de los Caidos, a very controversial place where Franco (and many of his victims) was buried. Was, because as the note mentions he was taken from there not long ago. Many "nostalgics" of Franco were really angry about it... Also, as you say it is the house of an old man. For those of us who are from Spain, the decoration and furniture were also clues as to the age of it's owner www "Generalisimo" was the title given to Franco. Many nostalgics still call him that. There are also some franquist era flags in some rooms, I think one was in the bedroom. I'm kinda sad that I didn't see any mention to La Legion tho. Although maybe Buff Shadow Yayo could be in reference to them lol The melody in the piano is also the Spanish anthem. There is a famous rendition that went "Franco, Franco que tiene el culo blanco" (Franco, Franco, who has a white ass)... the blessings of a no lyrics anthem. And Ecce Homo! It's become part of Spain's story so intrinsically that even fascist grandpa has it in his home! Oh, and if you ever can, Manly: try ColaCao. It is great.

I think the game needs a little bit of context, it obviously refers to Franco, Spanish dictator and full time shithead, who likes to be called by other Generalísimo (the top militar condecoration) and other over the top names, who also was super mega christian (hence the many photos of Jesus, even tho Spain was already a very religious country before), also in the clue that mentions people getting him out of the valley, it references where he was buried after dying (valley of the fallen, valle de los caídos) and the fact that a few years ago, the Spanish government wanted to get his corpse out of there, as the grave was built with slaves, this upset most of the extreme right/fascist politicians and as such they tried to stop the de-burial. Anyways, great video as always, love it and keep uploading more, it makes our days

Games like this are a testament to the effectiveness and impact of environmental storytelling, whereby the atmosphere and narrative are at least partially and subtly conveyed through the set decoration alone. The age of our antagonist and the regressive rigidity of his views were evident through these minor details strewn throughout his home, which also contributed to the mounting tension as we learned of his malicious intentions. The truth still seems a bit vague, though I suppose the antagonist is desirous of punishing those of a more liberal mentality with the hope of returning the country to its former state under Franco. How he seeks to accomplish this through the dissection and mutilation of these people is rather uncertain, but I can surmise that it might have some sort of preternatural leanings, which is also why he appears to have reawakened vitality and musculature for one as old as he. I do agree that the ending was rather abrupt and inefficiently capitalized off the unsettling atmosphere the game had established. Perhaps some additional, subtle scares in the form of shadows or increasingly unnerving sounds and music could have aided in the build-up towards the final reveal. In general, I really enjoy learning and experiencing history through different mediums, so a game of this nature was of exceptional intrigue to me, especially since it employed environmental detailing, which I always look for and advise other indie titles to include in their own horror games.
