Ozzy, Vince Neil and Sinead had two different voices come out at once within their "normal" singing voice. I believe that is why they stood out as they did. Just listen to any lyric they sang. It's not a doubling trick.....it's somehow in the frequencies they deliver. It just carries so much emotion that it overwhelms you. Subtle but immeasurable all the same.
@NBLP700110 ай бұрын
That, sweet, shy, almost embarrassed smile @ 1:13 is how I will remember Sinead. People have commented on how brave she was and they're right. She called out the abuse by the Catholic Church a long time before the scandals started coming to light. Inside, I think she was always that abused little girl at heart.

I WAS THERE!!!! I was there at The Wall concert, it was held in the Potsdamer Platz, right under the Brandenburg Gate, (although the horses had yet to be turned back to face the right direction.) It was a hot day, and a lot of people there, to be sure. I remember the autobahn on the way there was so packed, that for a while we shut off the car and just hung out on the highway! It was packed, bumper to bumper. At the show, imagine, it was a hot day and we couldn't wait for the sun to go done and cool us off. It was hot and dusty, the Potsdamer Platz was quite literally "No mans land" it was the dead space between the wall and the guard towers of East Berlin, so nobody ever walked there, except perhaps some guards. So no grass, not even weeds. Just dirt and dust. Not enough bathrooms, and if there was a concession selling anything to drink it was so far away I was worried I'd never find my girlfriend again (Yvonne Kallenborn from just outside Stuttgart! I wonder how you are??) As you can see, they built the Wall as the show went on. We were given white masks to wear for parts during the show, I remember I kept mine for many years. It was a bit far away, but I do remember Sinead coming out, as I was already a big fan and had seen her in Boston when she first came to the US right after her first single had dropped. Boston had a big Irish history and community at the time, and the flights were like $90. That show was at the Paradise on Comm Ave. She seemed to me to be so shy, she never spoke a word to the audience. She sang beautifully, of course!! Funny, she must of had a band, but I can hardly recall the band. She was such a presence. Her voice was SO STRONG and yet so soft and so sensitive!!! I was in the US Army at the time, and was in Bavaria when the wall came done, late nov of 89. I had to put in for a pass, but with a friend we drove to East Berlin and was there for Christmas Eve of 89. We stopped at Dachau, and because my friend was Jewish, he wanted to see Buchenwald, which was in the East. Very different,I can tell you. Through the years I always loved Sinead, though I never saw her again. If you've never heard her album "am I not your girl?" you need to. Its an album of pretty classic, but little known jazz covers. She reimagines and totally owns every song!!!! She takes Madonnas "Don't cry fo rme Argentina" and just inhabits that song with such a force that for the last 30 years I completely forgot it was ever a Madonna song! That album is full of heartbreak, bitter longing and anguish, and its perfect! Even the title, "am I not your girl?" She just wanted to be loved, and for those of us who could hear it, it really came through! But the anger and disappointment towards the end of "Just Like U Said it Would Be" is off the charts. Not until Alanis Morrissette years later had any female sang with such unbridled passion and anger. But, unlike Alanis, Sinead could be sooooo soft and intimate, so personal. The greatest song on that album, to me, is not what many would think. To me, the longest song, the 6:35 long song "Troy" is the masterpiece. Its starts out slow, with her calling, talking to us about being the "phoenix from the flames" than, quietly, " I never meant to hurt you... I swear I didn't mean those things I said! I never meant to do that to you next time I'll keep my hands to myself instead" But than, something happens, something changes. "Oh does she love you? What do you want to do? Does she need you like I do??" When she asks "does she hold you like I do?" her voice just wails and soars in pain and anguish, chasing the violins up through the range! But than she says us that she will RISE! She will return and we will see her in what she is, for there is no other Troy left to burn. The last 2 min of that song are simply some of the most powerful singing I've ever heard. Full of pain. longing, turmoil and anguish for how it all fell apart, with Sinead at the end yelling "Makes no different what you say, you're still a liar! YOU'RE STILL A LIAR!!" For anyone that's ever been cheated on, or more accurately, been drawn into the wrong relationship, given everything, than had that person turn away and than screw you over, yeah, that's your song. In closing, many, many years later, as the years of my life were reckoned, divorce came and visited upon me a world of hurt and misery. For that, Sinead had the perfect song all ready for me; "The Last Day of our Acquaintance" If anyone can relate to the words "I'll meet you later in somebody's office. I'll talk but you won't listen to me...I know you're answer, already." I'm very sad, as she's been in my life for many years, through my marriages, my kids, my divorce, through it all I could hear her singing in the background, just wanting to be loved, just like me.

That, sweet, shy, almost embarrassed smile @ 1:13 is how I will remember Sinead. People have commented on how brave she was and they're right. She called out the abuse by the Catholic Church a long time before the scandals started coming to light. Inside, I think she was always that abused little girl at heart.
I've heard Pink Floyd sing this song so many times, but never heard Sinead sing it until now. It's breaking my heart. We've lost a unique woman with the voice of angels. RIP Sinead. We will miss you more than you will ever know.

I'm left wondering how these two teamed up for this song as her mother abused this young lady when she was little. Carried all that pain all those yrs. we were blessed with her powerful music and voice......r.i.p. No more pain and suffering daily, life is so hard as it is let alone being abused as a child, many of us are left in serious pain all the days of our lives.
A beautiful person not understood by a lot of people . Someone who said something when she knew it wasn’t right . People are way too quick to condem people . She was a beautiful sole taken from us much too soon . An absolutely gorgeous voice . May she R.I.P.
Those two lines she delivers between 5 mins and 5 mins 20 seconds is one of the most emotionally powrful 20 seconds of music I've ever witnessed.

I have this concert on the original DVD.....brilliant concert with well known artists....well worth looking out for. Mother by Sinead is IMO the best version full stop, she was such a talented and beautiful singer....why do the best people always go way to early!
After Sinéad's passing I stumbled upon this performance and I was so blown away by her and The Band's vocals here (however brief it all may be) that I just had to get this concert and get it to play on a decent sound set.
