I would give the song 18/20 points. I've seen them live in Germany last year. It was fucking great to hear this song live. This song is in my top 5. The Lyrics, the composition and the instrumentation make the song great for me.

    Kirk's opening chord is a regular E minor, just raked, and wahed. James playsl E, B and F - E0, A2, and D3. Note: in S&M¹, James plays E, A# and D#, E0, A1 and D1.

If you listen to the Seek and Destroy performance from Woodstock 1994 you can hear James jam on an early version of the end solo from this song. Pretty interesting to see how early he had it in mind.

This song to me sounds like an abandoned instrumental, the bass driving the song sounds so nice without vocals with it and the guitars doing the little echos and unique sounds sound great by itself. Though I really do like this song with the vocals, think it's one of his best vocals.

Hey yo!sorry for not being at the live premier but im here now😄. So this song is one of my favorites by far. Soo... 1.composition - 4 - i just love the way the song is built. Like u said”roller coaster”. It really stands out for me. 2.memorability -so pretty easy lyrics to remember, really catchy main riff and awesome outro. Thats a 4 from me! 3.emotional response - well based on the previous 2 it would only make sense for me to give it another 4 points. Every time i listen to that song no matter where i am or what im doing i would most probably be paying more attention to the song than what ever im up to. Its just such an interesting and cool song for me (james’ vocals, the base, the riffs).its an emotional song as well. 4. Instrumentation - for me as a guitarist...😂(you probably guessed where im going with that) i just admire how they’ve structured it (layered it). The parts with base, drums and vocals sound so full even without guitars but when the guitars kick in just gets even better. Those “delay” parts just show how much attention they pay to detail.. and every time its a different “delay” and the fact they do that live as well is just incredible. Its those little bits that make the song stand out!! Well obviously a 4 from me.5-lyrics. Lyrics are nice, deep but i would give them a 3 just because it kind of repeats itself a lot and if i give it another 4 someone’s not gonna be happy with me 😂😂😂. Cheers Brice and till tomorrow. Ill be there promise 🙄

The gritty voice in the verse is a fourth down, starting on Bb. It reminds one of Alice in Chains, but, in this case, Jerry has a throat full of sand.

The song is about how much James misses their 2nd bassist (yes 2nd bassist. Ron McGovney was the 1st.) Cliff Burton. "And now I wait my whole lifetime for you" is James' way of saying he's frustrated with waiting til his own passing to see Cliff again.

I’m not sure I understand what you’re asking. Are you referring to the extended version, and wondering what my score would be? I don’t know, I think the S&M version is the perfect length; any longer is too much repetition for me.

Yeah, the fade wasn't earned, or even desired. Red Book standards limit you to 74 minutes, and that has to do with track pitch. 78min59sec (trying not to cause a vid tag) was pushing things to the limits of the time, and even then some older or more worn CD players could skip as they'd double track and lose optical focus, or be more sensitive to physical disruption. It's like an LP with super-tight grooves, if your needle's worn it can pop right out and skitter at the slightest disturbance. And so, I was kind of hoping you'd do the b-side release, but that wouldn't be intellectually honest.

Listen to this one: kzread.info/dash/bejne/q4aYtdKgmLKaddY.html This is the complete version of this song that didn’t fade out. It was on the Memory Remains single B Side, and it kicks so much ass. Especially this remaster right here. Just me, but I think you should do yourself a favor and give it another go!

This is indeed a song that needs a certain mood, and for this reason I look for it very often. To be honest, I don't like how James sings the chorus, but I like how he sings the rest of the song. However I much prefer the instrumental parts; they just touch me more. So composition 3, instrumentation 4, memorability 2, emotional response 3 and lyrics I'd say 2 because I don't know exactly what are they about but I don't hate them either. It's more of a safe score the latter. So I give it a 14. It's good but not that impressive, in my opinion.

@@8tonystark8 I'm not questioning James' vocal abilities (he sang beautifully), what I don't like much is how it's delivered. It seems almost a litany or something similar and I'm not a fan of it 🤷🏻‍♀️
