The difference in tackle classification is crazy. Here in the UK my rod of choice is a 12-45g and is considered a Medium weight. For shore fishing lures, you rarely need anything much bigger. Would be insane to have the chance to fish pelagic waters, but for now, Briggsy will have to do! 🤙 #yeeew

Aw, man, I was SO pulling for you! Great narration and strategy, but sometimes things just don’t break your way. When you let him run I thought, “Yup, that’s the thing to do; better chance of turning him and pulling him straight in away from the reef when he’s tired. Respect to the clever, strong fish. Love how you were thinking of feeding the family. Great video. “The Old Man of the Sea,” li’dat.

Sometimes it’s more rewarding to choose a lure and have that feeling that lure is going to get eaten! that strike and first run there’s nothing better! You gear up to catch them but it’s that moment that the line pulls tight even just a moment that makes it worth it!

I did fishing a long time ago and still like watching you cast for biggies from the rocks. I had almost never a line break but quite often hook pulls. But different species, water and region, part of the world :D So not comparable, BUT hook pulls are nasty. The fear of losing the fish and not seeing it before.

5:00 we call those false albacore here in the united states. i didn't think they made it to your part of the world, maybe this is a similar species. they're distinguishable from bonito and other tuna / mack hybrids by their spotty pattern. the bonito have stripes and the bonito also have bigger teeth. they say bonito are a delicacy, albies are not a fish that people eat. they rarely get that big up here. that one is huge. we fight them on 10-20 lb line and hang on. running and sighting them with the lads on the rocks. goes from dead to absolute mayhem and the water looks like it is damn near turning into steam when they school. some of my favorite fishing to do.

I just moved back to Sydney after living in holland for about ten years, did a lot of this style of fishing, albeit on a lighter scale, chased seabass with lures off the breakwalls there, great eating fish. Would love to try this out. Why do you wear a wetsuit? do you wear cleats and flotation vest too? subscribed, tight lines!

I love the videos, I wish I lived in Australia more and more when I see your fishing. Question: Why use barbless hooks? I usually am fishing much smaller fish, but if I fear injury due to the barb I carry pliers to press in the barb before removal. Never had a fish pull out of one, but I understand it's a different beast when the hook is so much larger than a 3/0 or 5/0 I use for bass in the states. Cheers!
