I have one area in my house with low pile carpet. I have owned several high end vacuums, always to be frustrated with how hard it is to pick up our dogs hair on a low pile carpet. The carpet I am talking about is also dark colored, and every drop of my yellow labs hair shows on it... I have used the robovac s7maxv ultra now for about 1 month... Its the ONLY vaccume that I have ever owned that leaves no trace of my dogs hair on the pesty low pile dark carpet! I only wish that I would have bought it sooner... From my experience constantly trying to find a vacuum that I like, on low pile carpets it's alot better to use lower suction power then max suction power. I know it sounds backwards, but I swear, there is logic behind lower suction on low pile carpets.. Sort of the same concept when it comes to vacuuming hard floor surfaces.. I find that "balanced" works best on my low pile carpet area.. Great video! Ty.

Links have been updated. Making the custom brush is no longer worth it as prices have increased significantly. Buy the Q5 brush and use that its best option works great for S7 Maxv, been using it as main brush over a year.

I guess on hardfloors the bristle would loose up sticky sand?

A Roborock with dual roller capability (one Rubber and One with bristle) would be nice to have. Roborock is already able to detect Carpets when mopping to deactivate the mop. It could do the same thing in activating one of the dual main rollers to start depending on the floor type. 4:39 I wonder how it will perform with repeat mode. Roborock S7 Max V app can be set to vacuum the area up to 3 times.

Seems like the Q5 was only released in the USA. But I was at the online store of the roborock US and could not find the bristle brush for Q5 among many accessories available. Where did you find it?

I did this to mine because of you thank you! Used the q5 brush and it works amazing! But the hair is tangling, what would be the fix for this? My dogs hair isn’t that long maybe a tad longer then your dog.

Glad it works good, but unfortunately that is one downside to bristle brushed is more hair tangling. I take mine off every 3 days and tangled hair rips off very easy, just dont forget to take of the end peace's on both sides and clean out the hair as well. To me definitely worth it.

Is the brush too snug to roll when it’s running? Can you make a video of the brush running smoothly? I heard if it’s too snug specifically when the motor strains to run, will cause a burn out.

No, q5 brush is exact same dimention specs as the s7 variants. Do not confuse s6 or earlier brushes as those will not work, only q5 brush.

Hello good afternoon. Did the brush on the q5 fit the s7 correctly? Did you have to make any changes to the brush? I'm thinking of buying one to use on my carpet. I have a q7 max and I think the brush will do too.

Hello, yes the brush works great on s7 maxv, im not 100% sure, but I do believe the q7 takes same size brush if thats the case, then yes it should work

Hello, as far as I know S7 models have same specked brush as the q5, so it should work, I would buy through Amazon due to ease of return in case it doesnt work. Just make sure buy genuine roborock brush.

Is there any way you can do this test for long hair please? I've got no pets but an finding the s7 max performance terrible for long human hair on carpet, hoping the Q5 brush is better :(

Already done haha as my wife has long hair. It picks up pretty well on our low carpets, not sure how it would perform on higher pile carpets as I dont have any. Thw only minor issue to me is you have to clean the brush. I do this a couple times a week, just pull all the hair to the side and it comes rite off, once in while gets tangled around edge takes little more efford ripping off but works for me.

@@merd3315 thank you for the reply :) I'm in the UK so have ordered but the Q5 brush will take a while to arrive, I have medium, maybe slightly high like carpet and the hair gets pretty embedded in it, bit worried the robot won't pick it up but I'll give it a go. Friend has the dreame Z10 pro and said I should have gone for that, hopefully I've not made the wrong decision and the Q5 brush will resolve everything :)

Would your ‘stiff’ bristle custom brush scratch sealed hardwood you think?

Hi, im not sure, never tested it myself on sealed, its less stiff than most household vacuums so if they dont scratch then this brush definitely wont

Personally I think it will cause more issues, because those are used as guides, and prevent too much pressure on hardwood, especially with bristle brush might cause some scratching. Additionally since the brush unit is free floating with could cause like vibration and throw off balance if not cut exactly same. If you have an area to test it on and a spare cover, worth shot I guess haha.

@@TecYimBroke My carpet is somewhere between medium and high with a tight weave. The rubber roller does a pretty good job on it but I have ordered the Q5 brush roller just to see how it compares.

@@TecYimBroke I got the Q5 brush roller yesterday and had it vacuum a couple of rooms. It's a bit smaller than the rubber roller but fits and rotates with no problem. It's too early to tell if it's better than the S7 MaxV's rubber roller. That appears to do a better job on higher pile carpet than low pile. My cat is a short hair but his coat is pretty thick and he's always shedding. The rubber roller hasn't had long strands of hair wrapped around it but the hair accumulates on both ends of the shaft. It easy enough to pop the caps off and pull the hair out but it seems a bit odd.

@@MrNorcal81 Yeah they designed the rubber brush that way so it pushes the hair to the side, makes it easier to pull off just removing side mounts

No unfortunatly s5 brush will not fit on s7 even though they may look the same, s5 brush is alot thicker. You can buy regular rubber s7 brush or the Q5 brush will also fit.

Haha, thank you, I really appreciate it. You would probably be better off saving money and just buying the Q5 brush used in my videos as well because its almost just as good, and costs less.
