  • 4 жыл бұрын

@Doggeslife No back in the day he was definitely recognized as a great guitarist. As the years passed by though, he was never talked about among the music community. In 2004 when Guitar Player Magazine came out with their top 100 best guitar players of all time, Robin was nowhere to be found on the list. I was pleasantly surprised to see Stevie Ray Vaughan at number two, but very disappointed to not see Robin on the list whatsoever. Especially when a guy like Slash was in the top 20. 😕

Best opening act I ever saw. The headliner was Mott The Hoople and they were awesome as usual. I had heard Robins music a lot but this was my first time seeing him live. My mouth must have been hanging open the entire set and all I remember saying the whole time was “Wow”. And the bass player James Dewer was the big surprise. He was just amazing on bass and vocals. James Dewar was the singer and bass, Trower played the Stratocaster guitar. He was in procuring harem before he went on his own. I discover hi in ‘76. We used to say sounds like Hendrix must be trower. He’s one of my favorites. Born in England but was significantly influence by B B King among other American blues players as well a James Brown among others.

James Dewar is the vocalist, he's gone but was an awesome accompaniment to Robin's guitar mastery. I've been a HUGE fan since the early 70s. Robin did a few songs dedicated to The Man...Jimi...Robin is one of the most underrated guitarists ever, and he's still rockin' today!

Grew up on this.. This was one of my dad's favorite people to jam. He passed away in 2013. He was 59 and I miss him every day. My baby brother was 17 when he passed in 2005 and him and my old man used to play guitar together and this was one of the songs they used to play. Man the tears are flowin.. I don't know if I could listen to it but would like to see you react to Long Misty Days.

'87-''88 I was working security at the old DwnTwn movie house in Petaluma Ca, and Robin Trower came to town and Rocked the House. It was a great show- I got to watch it from the balcony all by myself. Had no idea he was even coming that night...

OMG... I have the exact same story. My Birthday night, 1989, in San Antonio, a concert with Robin Trower and Pat Travers. Pat performed first and when he finished he sat the rest of the night drinking with us, while we all watched Robin. I have had Tinnitus ever since. One of the best nights of my life.

Robin Trower is one of the best guitar players still doing his thing into his 70's! Not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and not on the top 100 guitar player list, but one of the very best ever to pick up a Fender Strat period. He never caved to the commercial side of music, just playing from his soul!

They played this on the radio one day and I was blown away. I thought, "why the hell am I just hearing this?" I remember Robin Trower being in my older brother's record collection, but didn't remember much about it. I mentioned it to a friend and they told me about the album "Bridge of Sighs" being kick ass and I've been hooked ever since. I'm glad you did the video so more people can enjoy Robin's work. I think it important to mention that the vocals are actually Robin Trower's bass player, James Dewar who passed in 2002. One of the great rock vocalists that probably didn't get do credit.

I saw Trower at the old bus garage in Cincinnati couple decades ago, accidentally took a wrong door looking for the restroom, was feet from his bus while he was in it , bout to be manhandled by security , he came out saved me. Talked, I talk bout how I could never quite get his sound, he lit up, took me out to his spot on stage, showed me his rig, I took NONE of it in, thinking Robin Trower is talking to me! Onstage! About his setup! I was giddy lol

Robin Trower speaks through his guitar, clear and precise, pure blues-rock. The only reason he had Hendrix comparisons is for releasing Bridge of Sighs just a few years after Jimi died. There weren't many other comparable guitarists in that style and Trower employed many of the same riffs Jimi used, but I think a bit more thought out giving it an air of "predictability", though sounding quite nice. Stevie Ray Vaughn was still practicing with his bro in Texas in 1974. And comparing Bridge of Sighs to a Hendrix classic like Electric Ladyland in 1974 was no contest, but when looked at in the present day and the current music being produced, it has greater impact and is nearly as classic. But c'mon, no one can touch Jimi, just like no one can touch the Beatles, they can try and still sound good though. I've been a Trower fan since early '75 and listening to music since '63. Nice video, glad to see you enjoyed the track. You have a good music sense yourself. Peace.
