I saw this tour in 1975 and it was fantastic. I walked out of that concert and my ears were ringing from the wall of Marshall amps. My brother smuggled a camera and telephoto and we have some great shots of the band. Love Trower!

Robin's playing is ethereal and dreamy. It's crazy that he doesn't have the fanfare that, say, Stevie Ray Vaughn did.

And we can't forget that Mr. Dewar also performed the tasty bass work on this track. The title track to "Bridge of Sighs" is also most stellar. Fun fact: R. Trower joined Procol Harum after "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" was recorded!!

I’ll tell you guys, I attended a RT gig at the Wembley Empire Pool (London) in early 1976 and it blew me away. I thought Deep Purple was loud but Robin tore my ear drums out, as he should have. The biggest criticism of him at that time (i.e. the mid 70s) was that he was a Jimi rip-off, but he wasn’t. Of course, Robin with his Strat had an obvious JH flavour but he carved out his own rock stance and was incredibly popular with the post-Woodstock audience. Bridge of Sighs always will be an iconic blues guitar album, which I still listen to on a regular basis!!

Remember at the time when this was released most people did not even own a stereo hi-fi system. Listening to this kind of groove and production standards in stereo with the volume full up on headphones, with one on the go back in the mid-seventies was like traveling to the Moon to meet with God. In other words an out-of-this-world experience.

Robin was known as the King of the Strat and still is. This album must be listened to in it's entirety. Ex Procul Harem my adventure started in 74 where I heard 1 song on the radio and decided to go to the concert at Cobo Hall in Detroit. That was it I was hooked. Why he isn't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is blasphemy. I saw him 5 times and James Dewar the Bassist/Vocalist was one of the best also. Rip JD. There is not a bad song on this album We were so lucky to grow up in this generation what music without all the crap just raw music in all of their prime

Robin Trower was a massive fan of Hendrix. Check out his tribute to Hendrix, "Daydream", very reminiscent in style to "The Wind Cries Mary". Also, check out the heartbreakingly beautiful "Bluebird. The vocalist, Jimmy Dewar (R.I.P.), has such a soulful voice. The guitar solos in "Bluebird" are very understated but all the more spectacular because he mimics birdsong.

While Procol Harem was a good experience for Robin, it really was his stepping off point to become his greatest success on his own. Back in the 90s when I bartended at a resort hotel in Oakland, I was serving Dbl Crown Royals to Stevie Ray Vaughn (just before he went sober). I asked Stevie what he thought of Robin Trower. Stevie said he would love to work with Robin on stage sometime. Sadly, Stevie got called home before such a profound session ever took place.

The reason Robin Trower didn't get the recognition was Jimi Hendrix was on the scene a little earlier. In 67 Trower joined Poco Harum was a smash but he was just the guitar player. In my opinion I like Hendrix but I think Trower is a cleaner and better player so underrated.
