Roadway Gets Shut Down Right In Front Of Me

Hauling my wide load (11 feet) in a narrow Ohio back road, the road gets shut down to land a helicopter. People on a nearby off road trail crashed and needed medi-vacd. The road was the best LZ.

My Dad used to be a long distance truck driver from the time that he graduated high school until he got diagnosed with multiple sclerosis from being sprayed with agent orange in Vietnam, after he got drafted into the Army. My Dad passed away 4 days after my birthday in 2020 but he would have loved this channel. He absolutely loved being a truck driver and seeing the beauty of our Nation. Thank you for your channel and sharing the job that you do! I understand full well the sacrifices that you make so this Country can continue to thrive. I am now a subscriber of this channel and will watch your videos in honor of my Dad!
Much respect to drivers. People do not know how much goes into driving a rig. Logs, 42point inspection before leaving out to pick up or drop,72 point inspection when obtaining a cdl and the physically driving then parking tests, watching out for idiots who thinks trucks can stop on a dime, city driving & dock loads, knowing weight limits, height of underpasses, check check and re-check and secure load...re-tightening load straps, toll roads and bridges, if in wreck cops always blame driver of truck and regardless of how a wreck happens it goes onto the drivers record, money hungry lawyers looking for anything to "F" up a driver and sue. So its not " hey i will simply go drive a truck. I got my cdl's, mechanic certification but chose to just work on them because its too much stress to be a driver and i have heard some very bad stories. Respect to all men & women who take on this big responsibility!!!!😃🇺🇸
I really like the trailer camera view. Definitely provides a good perspective on the load overhang.
nothing in the world sounds like BIG BOY under power ,i have been up close to it when it was in omaha nebraska in 2019 ,it literally feels like a living thing ,
Awesome!!!! I didn't know that you were into railfanning. There is an railroad museum in Union Illinois called the Illinois Railway Museum and they have steam, electric, & diesel preserved.

In case people are wondering about the first steam locomotive, that is UP #4004, a 4-8-8-4 Big Boy. She is one of 25 locomotives made, weighs 625 tons, is 132' 6" long, and has the capacity to burn through a full load of fuel and water in 3 hours. She was originally made to haul freight through the Rocky Mountains, and #4004 is the world's largest operating steam locomotive. Good on you, Steve, for catching such a rare beauty, and awesome piece of engineering history!
Wow, the Big Boy footage was a surprise! I'll be subscribing to that channel too, I guess. Thanks for taking us along for the ride through rural Ohio!
Love seein the paperlogs, another bonus from Orwell
Can't believe you went right through my back yard and didn't stop to say hi 😉 I live 5 miles from the lake you passed. Is this video from early August? Because if it's the ATV wreck I'm thinking of, all involved are fine and we're just helo-ed out as a precaution
Love trains. When I was younger, my Parents would take me down to the local train yard to watch a train leave, then we’d drive 20-30 miles down the road to watch it come by. When I’d leave work @ the University of Alabama around 2:30-3 pm, more times than not, I’d spend another 3-4 hours train watching locally
Reminds me of how uncomfortable those old school trackers were to drive...back breakers 😥

You are a skilled driver, a true Professional stay focused, get the job done. And then a four wheeler pulls out thinking they own the road. Your content shows four wheelers how skilled you have to be to drive a big truck.
Definitely a foot and arm workout riding this backroad...Reminds me of a time from Baltimore to D.C on a major holiday....Up and down on the tree ....And my left leg started cramping real bad from all the shifting....Uggghh!!!.. It sucked....🥴🥴🥴😖😖😖!!!

man driving a car in dc is a pain already, i could not imagine driving a big rig through that dc traffic i would lose it !! whenever i see a big rig in any densely populated city i just think that skill and patience it takes to maneuver through traffic like that.
MAN THAT THING SOUNDS GOOD 👍
I don’t know if I could do that. I had several drivers ask me if I wanted to drive in my receiving area.
U get to see big boy? nice i sat on him when he was still parked in Pomona Fair plex in Cali... dead sexy train! so great to see him running the rails again

In case anyone was wondering, yes that Big Boy is hauling under its own power, the diesel electric loco behind it isnt actually doing anything besides providing electricity and air to the rest of the train, and i believe they use their dynamic brakes as well.
@fsctrucking
2 жыл бұрын
They did have to use diesel power on a few parts coming north from New Orleans. They were running low on water. But yes for the most part Big Boy did all the work.
I love trains! Steve, I may run out of available time, what with all your new channels. I already don't mow, dig, cut or haul. 🤔 Guess KP is next to go. 😎
Didn't know Orwell was lit up like it is.....

Good job showing telling, what about the black hill central nice well keep on trucking. Love learning new things on your channel so keep on trucking. And well see ya next time see ya by
Good luck buddy good to see you again be safe out there you an Orwell see you soon
You sir are a good consistent driver. God bless you!
Love trucking and love trains. Back in my young years in the 1970s my father and myself would go out in the Mack truck and rescue railway items for a new railway museum that friends had started. Sometimes the load was a railway wagon or freight car, but it could also be a steam engine. Found your trucking channel, and now I have a full package with FSC Railroad. I'm also a big fan of Union Pacific RR. ✌👍
Those flags are the most underrated workers and do the hardest work 😂
I love the fact you are a railfan cheers
I miss watching this channel, it’s so good❤️🙌🏻
I grew up a long the Camden Amboy line. Miss seeing the Conrail trains.

Steam Locomotives are a rare breed, in the small town my mom grew up in they’ve got one connected to a few cars and I believe they do a dinner train. This country was able to expand everywhere du to the locomotives.

Yep. Just down the road apiece from me!
About ten years ago, my wife and I were driving to Las Vegas from Phoenix. A few miles from Hoover Dam, we had to stop. An RV was on fire just down the road. I had binoculars and good see flames on the side of the road. Anyway, we spent about 2 hours on the road waiting for the fire department to arrive and put out the fire. They shut down both sides of the 93. Nothing to do there but sit and wait.
Live fairly close and still hoping to pass/see you some day. Over seen the black cab sitting locally once but not you! That’s for keeping America running!
Rig is so old it don't have shoulder belts lol
Wise man once told me ur mad about waiting in traffic imagine how bad the guy who got in the accident feels! Probably almost as bad a losing the chopper 🙄
Yep. Lap Belts. 100% legal, and just as effective as those placebos they call “shoulder restraints”. Also LOVE the paper log book. AND the smooth “floating” of those 18 gears. Its a wonder the “double clutcher police” aren’t all over that one “cause their driving school said it was bad”.
Cool stuff man. You have great truck and train action, especially those steamtrains. The problem of running those state routes in parts of Ohio is all the Amishers on the road in their buggies. That person who passed you then almost immediately made the ssslllooowww right turn, plenty of people do that kind of crazy crap as you well know. Too bad those people wiped out that bad on their ATVs. Hopefully they made it. I will go join your RR channel too. You had some great footage of what I take it, was that run last summer of the UPs, Big Boy. What a gorgeous piece of machinery. Fire breathing and steam spewing living art on the rails. Peace out man, take care out there with the crazies.
Dude!!! I recognize that place at the beginning of the video the TA gas truck stop with the cat water tower nearby !! That's not far from where i was born and raised!!
I have a 85 Star with a Grandfathered in lapBelt and a 7FB its a Waterjacket Engine Too .Next Round Try 70E to 470 Rt7North 22 sucks if your loaded Between Cambridge and Steubenville Ohio .Be Safe
Just seen 4014 at the great overland station in Topeka Kansas 5 days ago.
I was trying to guess what you were hauling, a swimming pool? Great video!
Hey, I enjoyed the ride. Thanks
Nice video i am a new subscriber to this channel and to your shop channel and just subbed to your rail channel i look forward to all the great content on all the channels
BIG BOY!! 4014 one hell of a machine!
my birthday labor day and what a surprise w/locomot. god bless good vids
I love the big boy she's a nice looking train I seen her here in oklahoma bout 2 years ago
Yeah, that was tricky trying to pull over to the side when the cop comes around that curve.
Some of us on you tube also are looking out for your well being. We realize your a spoke in wheel that keeps the country running.
If she had waited for you to pass she would have got to her destination 30 or 35 seconds later. So yes she did
+ or - five inches from the fog line. Good trucking!
Black Hills Central is a great operation, running a pair of ex-Weyerhaeuser logging mallets, two of five (I think) of their type still in operation. PS, I'm a retired locomotive engineer.
I work for the railroad so it’s funny to see this pop up as related to what I like lol 😆
Love the videos Steve and the new channels..!! I was curious which video editor you use for viewing and uploading to KZread..??
Excellent video Steve
I got a up close video of big boy last summer when it went threw elmhurst il. huge engine.
long time ago two oversize running together, south of Chicago I was following and told him if one more car cut me off I'd have to back up. More proof 4 wheelers are crazy, pull toy here
what? you have a FSC RR now i didn't know about this, ill try to check it out 😁🥰😘

Gotta love the sheriffs here, always flyin!

Does Jen know that you've been checking out locomotives. Hey, I'll bet the V-12 would fit in one of those.
Oh boy I recognize that TA surprise you found a spot.
