My friend Marco and me went down to Durban to explore the things to do in Durban and some more sights in Kwazulu-Natal. As usual I tried to mix sightseeing in South Africa with some cool activities, such as the big rush, a multi day trek in the Drakensberg mountains or a Segway tour in Durban.
For doing all this we rented a car and drive through the region for about 10 days with activities booked a few weeks ahead.
You can use this guide to prepare and plan your own trip to this region, therefore I included all Spots and companies we used along the way.

It’s such a beautiful country studied there for my undergrad. Durban was my fav city. Massively underrated.

South Africa is a very beautiful country. Especially Durban. Love love the weather there, too. I would love to go back there again someday :)

@Duncan Sands type KZN tourism in Google and all is in there. Remember, this is a third world country, public transport is decades behind. No fancy trains crisscrossing the country like in England. But with a Ford Ranger you can get anywhere. Because you are looking for Midlands activities, historical sites and tiger fishing, the ideal lodge is Jozini Tiger Fishing lodge, but for snorkeling you may need to look into Maputo along Mozambican coastal islands. Driving by yourself is unheard of and never recommended.

Beautiful place . I have recently found out that my great grandfather was from KwaZulu Natal and he settled in Malaysia almost 100 yrs ago ... He was an Indian decedent and a horseman for the British. I believed there must be some long lost family members living in KwaZulu Natal now... 🤔

1985 Umfolozi Game Reserve was real old style Game Reserve saved the Rhinos from Extinction, now its larger parks - lets hope Environment can be improved around the parks as well. Brilliant places - go if you can
