Thank you for making this video. I am American and the first time I visited Durban was in the late 1990s. If an American can name two SA cities, it would be Johannesburg or Cape Town. Wanting to be different, I chose Durban and I have revisited Durban about another 9 times.

@@truesouth6532 I am an academic and not a politician. But from what I have researched, most apartheid-era elections went according to the propaganda of the day. Currently there seems to be the same situation that most voters do not think about the real issues, or whether another representative could improve his/her say in parliament, but rather to vote according to old connotations or new propaganda. As much as I love the SA youth of the 2020s, they are politically naive and easily absorbed by the empty promises of rogue politicians. So sad.

@@IwasInThe60s I agree. I just wish that the other political parties would be more visible so that people know that there's an alternative. We lived in Durban for 7 years and it was wonderful. Went to Ushaka at least once a week. Had to relocate to Gauteng for business which was horrible. After three years we gave up and moved to Orania because we're Afrikaans but Durban and its wonderful people will always have a special place in my heart. I hope they can solve the crime issues but in my opinion KZN needs full independence to escape from the shadow of Johannesburg and Cape Town (the most overrated place in SA btw). Not once did I experience discrimination or unkindness from anyone in Durban and because the Zulu people are so obviously dominant demographically they are actually very gracious about it. Indian food is faaaaaantastic!!!! Kuswag skool in Amanzimtoti was an excellent school for my children with pure, deep rooted Christian values and wonderful teachers. Baie dankie Durban!!!!!

You were raised to see whites as superior and indoctrinated among those lines. No matter how hard you try to hide it will always come. You are a victim of false religious believe that Afrikaners are covenant nation and blacks are wood cutter who deserve nothing best in life. Unfortunately this keep under false sense of security that you are saved and that you are barter. The danger of this believe is that you directly live as the enemy of the cross. If you can accept this truth Gid can start a journey of rehabilitation in you. You can’t live in love and hatred at the same time. You also can’t put old wine into new wine skin. As a South African we are often spoilt and often do not appreciate how privileged we are. Middle class South Africans have a better more abundant lifestyle than most people in first world countries. It's only when I was dealing with a lot of foreign tourists in Cape Town recently that I realized how privileged we are and how much we take for granted. So many South Africans emigrate due to our negativity and return shortly ofter with a completely different outlook and appreciation for our country.

Durban has the potential to be the best city in Africa. But sadly it's been pillaged and plundered by a corrupt municipality for too many years. The cbd is disgusting and dangerous. (Which is why most big business has moved to Umhlanga) , and the crime is horrific. Pretty much every middle class area is surrounded by shacks and shanty towns, so there is a lot of break ins and worse. I have lived in Durban for 35 years, but I would gladly leave if I could. The grime and filth is just too much. I worry for my kids safety as I have been a victim of crime many times. Home invasion, muggings, been shot at twice, been hijacked, plenty of petty theft etc.

Addington, South and North. You could leave your clothes, towel etc. on the sand, go for a swim and come back and they'd still be there. We used to catch trains from Malvern, Queensburgh to Durban Central station and walk to the beaches. When we were young men we'd hitch hike at night to the Fun Fair that was on the beachfront and have a ball. It was so safe. Now you don't dare walk along the whole promenade at night. You'll get mugged and robbed or worse for women. Even the Fun Fair is now either closing or is already closed due to not enough tourists. We all know why they stay away. Sadly its gone downhill and I'll never go back there again.

South Africa is a country of immense beauty, captivating all who are fortunate enough to call it home. With its diverse landscapes, from majestic mountains to pristine coastlines, it offers a natural splendor that is hard to match. The vibrant cultures and rich history further enhance its appeal, creating a tapestry of experiences that leave a lasting impression. Interestingly, there are critics who voice their opinions about South Africa but choose to stay within its borders, especially among the Caucasian population. This paradox raises questions about whether they truly appreciate the country's beauty or overlook it in their everyday lives. Despite the critics, South Africa's allure remains undeniable. Its natural wonders, cultural diversity, and historical significance make it a truly enchanting place to live. From its awe-inspiring landscapes to its vibrant communities, the country offers an extraordinary blend of experiences. While it is puzzling that some critics never leave, their voices serve as a reminder to pause and reflect on the beauty that surrounds them. South Africa continues to beckon those with an adventurous spirit and an appreciation for the extraordinary, ready to embrace its wonders and create a life in this remarkable nation.

Most of the whingeing concerns corruption and crime, not natural beauty, and most national parks are only solvent because of the year-round tourism that white people bring to them. Go to any Sanpark, KZN or Cape Nature reserve to see for yourself. You'll see seas of white people, a smattering of coloureds and Indians, and a small number of black people. Some fear that the lack of appreciation of these reserves among the majority will actually lead to their destruction, something that *cannot* happen because South Africa remains one of most biodiverse places on earth and its wildlife must be protected at all costs.

I honestly thought the Durban Tourism Board would react after the unfortunate AKA incident and those devastating floods with such PR to try and reassure tourists... dunno if they reached out to you Steven because something needs to give. Security is a serious issue and it's sad that leaders just get bodyguards and leave ordinary people on their own. I was born and raised in KZN and it is oozing with potential but it’s political parties that have dominated there for the last three decades have allowed it to decay due to incompetence. It isn’t safe at night but daytime probably best time to get around. There are places to go for cheap where you could have a lot of fun but be careful for your belongings and your car.

I located to Melbourne from Johannesburg 20 years ago. Every year I go to SA and I definitely go to Durban. My Aussie husband loves the culture food and vibes. The first time we went there my sister told him not to give any money to beggars, instead to buy things from street vendors. He couldn’t resist giving money to two kids. Within seconds he was surrounded by a cloud of children demanding money. He, and I, thought they would carry him away. 😅 we still go but he is more wary and mindful of safety, especially where he thinks he can walk. Having said that, he absolutely loves the Zulu culture and loves the surrounding countryside.

South Africa has a unique beauty in each of the provinces. To write off Durban means you disregard a multiracial and multi cultural population, visiting the beach even in summer, great surfing with fewer sharks, great curry and a resourceful largest Indian population, many spiritual centres, home to Gift of Givers, Drakensberg , few hrs to Midlands and St Lucia etc etc...most of other SA prefer to travel overseas than Durban mostly due to ignorance and pride Problems are there but so are the positives. Shame you didn't get to meet any Indian people or have curry....come back next time for that!!!

You are a victim of false religious believe that Afrikaners are covenant nation and blacks are wood cutter who deserve nothing best in life. Unfortunately this keep under false sense of security that you are saved and that you are barter. The danger of this believe is that you directly live as the enemy of the cross.

I was born in Durban, grew up in the Durban been through all the ups an downs in Durban which Ed shaped me into the person I am. It’s a beautiful place.
I was a Durban bred and born person. I'm now 74 and lived there for 64 years. I Swam in all the beaches, including the paddling pool as a small boy, that were there in the sixties and onwards.
I think Durban is not appreciated enough. the climate here is amazing and I believe it has a potential of being one of the best cities in the world.
One thing I've realised about South Af3ica is how cheap accommodation is over there.. very nice luxurious locations infact .. wow.. only 650use for that.. ? That's a single hotel room price and maybe even some lodges and guest houses price for that in Botswana. But overall I'd rather go to Cape town than Durban
This is why black media is very important. they want to show Africa in a bad light. One Africa has so much to offer.

Bro, your production keeps better and better each time i watch your video. Not sure if you edit your videos yourself or if you have a crew who does it, either way, it is top notch
I‘ve visited Joburg & Durban. I liked Durban a lot, I stayed in Morningside. I am European and found it was a very amazing time there 🎉
I love Durban, its a pity how the inner city is deteriorating and beaches being polluted.
Durban is very beautiful I can't wait to see the real estate video
Durban is amazing. Been there 2x the past year. Ushaka Marine is a lot of fun. Hit up Lord Prawn for some amazing seafood. The whale bone pier is a must see. Both in the daytime and even more at night. And if you can, hike the parts of the beach by Umhlanga that are super quiet and more natural. Youll be glad you did.
Beautiful eye-opening video for me. This is very good, Steven..

It's not just the whites who whinge incessantly about SA, but that is beside the point.

Good job ChatGPT
I honestly thought the Durban Tourism Board would react after the unfortunate AKA incident and those devastating floods with such PR to try and reassure tourists... dunno if they reached out to you Steven because something needs to give. Security is a serious issue and it's sad that leaders just get bodyguards and leave ordinary people on their own. I'm talking from experience...and to be honest I have nothing against the place because it's lovely.

If that is the mentality, it would be very unfortunate. It's not a good look on the city when something tragic like that happens and to keep quiet means you're indifferent, which can ruin the image of Durban forever

Wow, Durban looks so cool. So beautiful. If i move to Africa, it would be kenya or south africa for sure.
@Steven Great Job my brother❤️
Yoo I fell in love with Durban , i visited three times. Sherpstone, Mtwalume and and there was this place close to iFafa Beach 🏖 I forgot that guest lodge. I enjoyed the welcoming of the Zulus, as I was talking my hybrid Ndebele of Zim they loved that I wasn’t hiding myself. And we get along nicely Still today we chat on watsup. I can tell you only if you give some people respect you will be respected too, .

Good information my man ! 😀👍🏾
Africa is such a beautiful channel
It is very hot in Durban, too many monkeys, the snakes but I love the rain and there are many nice people in Durban.

As a born-and-bred Durbanite I totally agree. I've lived in CPT for longer than I lived in Durban but will always miss the wonderful friendly people, the amazing food and wonderful places like the Drakensberg and the Midlands.

It’s crazy how people say amaZulu are tribalist, but I see nothing but hate for Zulus on the comments. Who really is the tribalist guys🙁 We just do us and mind our business.😎
Great ❤ sending Love from UK England ❤
