Yes, it was for the best and to keep him safe. It can take up to 6 months for the testosterone level to drop though,so Yvonne and her helpers need to be careful around hin for awhile yet, the amount of time differs of course with each stallion become gelding.❤

Maybe it's just my perpetual optimism, but I feel like Risey HAS gotten somewhat better, or maybe he's learned to compensate better. He moves more freely, and his hindquarters seem steadier. He's obviously still a very happy boy, and such a sweet temperment. As long as he doesn't injure himself, he's an excellent companion to his stal mates, and a good friend to you. There's value in that. ❤

I like how Spidey grabbed Risey’s halter with his teeth. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Spidey is such a sweetheart. A friend to all, dogs, ponies, horses, children. 💜

Rising Star is very beautiful and even though his future isn't what we had all hoped for, he is still doing well. Not all creatures are perfect and that's ok.

Exactly! He has quality of life and an owner who doesn't value him solely for his potential as a sport horse. I'm sure that even if it turns out that he can't be anything but a pasture pet, he'll have a place with Yvonne forever. And who knows, he may yet continue to improve. He already looks so much better than he did a few months ago.

Soon Mathilde is going to have as many 4 legged friends as Yvonne. Bjarni is a handsome boy!

As he declines, if he declines further, he will begin to suffer with or with out her. That's when she will do the right thing for him. I'm glad they are able to afford to keep feeding and caring for him.

If you ever wonder what happened to all the dragons you just have to listen to Risey when he is in the arena. He is definitely part dragon with all his snorts.

Definitely the right decision for Risey, he will be happier in the long run, it's so sad to see what he could have been if not for the Wobbler, but he is happy and has so much love and care showered on him and the time to see what happens in Yvonne's loving care. I don’t know much about horses, but even I can see he has trouble with his hind legs in this video, but having him gelded will help him to maybe not hurt himself further or anyone else. The Prince is absolutely beautiful as well as sweet like his Queen Mem ❤

Risey has wobbler, so few people would want to breed their horses with him and he probably would not have made it past the inspection because gaits are important in it. If he didn't have the wobbler, he could have made a great stud, his physique at this age reminds me of a KWPN stallion, Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve. Spidey does not have a pedigree, so he would have never met the pre-requisites to begin with.

@@virginiamoss7045 Technically, yes it will be waned but the question is how much. For some geldings it's not a lot, hence the term "proud cut". Some "Proud Cut" definition entails a clean cut through the testes but the horse exhibits stallion behaviours nonetheless. There are other factors that make a horse still retain those traits: learned behaviours, temperament (more based on genetics, he's clearly temperamental and is a dominant horse), environment, training and the fact that testes may be the prominent testosterone production tissue but not the only one as there's adrenal gland as well. Risey is much frisker/sexually driven than the Friesian Stallions towards the mares, he did not mature as fast sexually but as time went on, that became clear because despite the wobbler restricting his hindquarter areas, he was still frisky. So that's something that has to be waited for few months to be evaluated.

It always fascinates me when the dentist works on horses. It’s interesting that mares near giving birth cannot be anesthetized. Rising Star sounds like a goose or turkey when vocalizing. ♥♥♥

Agree and Indeed, gelding the boys is the BEST thing to do! Don't worry Yvonne, we've seen so many castrations done by Dr. Jan Pol, here in the states on his TV show. It's a very easy procedure, if both have testes have descended. Can be hard for the squeamish. I know it's hard, but just give Risey more time to grow and recover. Sending prayers for RECOVERY for all!!!

Busy day at Stal H! Spidey and Risey will be happier as geldings. They'll be able to live in a herd with friends. Risey will be easier to handle. The two of them play well together. Risey really a beautiful horse. He just has something special about him. 🥰🥰

Hopefully we'll see him in the herd but I doubt it'll be anytime soon, herd initiation especially for a dominant horse like RS, can result in violence if the mares try to shun him. He'll then try to be more aggressive to make them his herd, so not really a situation RS should be in right now with his wobbly legs.

Watching Risey with Spidey just cracks me up. The noise Risey makes I’ve never heard a horse make Also very funny to see the pony babies running from stall to stall inside your barn. Then meeting Puck was fun too but your sweet boys stole the show. Great videos.

Risey's copper coat is just amazing, the bightest light is surrounded by the darkest shadows. That's how I'd describe his coat. It's sad he is not a stallion anymore, I always wanted to see little Riseys run around but it's a more realistic path for him since the wobbler.

I was wondering when Risey was going to get The Snip.

Geldings in general are having a better social life compared to a stallion and can be together with mares and other geldings. I hope Risey will improve enough that he can join a group of gentle horses once his hormones are gone.

Being a gelding may save his life. I hope so so much. I hope he calms down and has fewer injuries. Yvonne you are doing everything you possibly can. I want so much for Risey to get much better.

It's good that you gelded the boys, too many Stallions in a barn is a recipe for trouble. It will take a few months for them to calm down. This will be the most benefit to Risey since he will no longer have the urge to do the rough horseplay which could aggravate his condition.

He will still have the urge to rough house, gelding them at this age doesn't really change that. If he was gelded at a very young age and wasn't in a bachelor herd, that's when he would not have done it. Rough housing is a learned behaviour amongst horses as well as it is based on the temperament of the horses, RS has a more hot-blooded temperament than the others. At best, gelding him will just mitigate his sexual desires and calm him around mares, it'll also make him easier to be broken under ropes but he'll still be a dominantly playful horse if he is put in a bachelor herd with Spidey.
