"Rise, O Voices of Rhodesia" was the national anthem of Rhodesia and Zimbabwe Rhodesia between 1974 and 1979. The tune was that of "Ode to Joy", the Fourth Movement from Ludwig van Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, which had been adopted as the official European continental anthem by the Council of Europe in 1972.

Vielen Dank, daß Sie dieses Lied - und damit auch Rhodesien und Ian Smith, den man am Ende sieht - aus der Vergessenheit reißen. Und daß den Rhodesiern damals nichts besseres eingefallen ist, als Beethovens Neunte, sei ihnen auch verziehen. Sie hatten wirklich wichtigeres zu tun als originelle Lieder zu komponieren.

@@fiorinopizio4554 Civil war that wouldn't have been necessary had they not had class A and Class B citizens( mainly, black people, the MAJORITY)
